As a disabled veteran I feel the freedoms I fought for are being lost because of the GOP manipulating voter rights.

All Americans who care about justice are affected by the Voting Rights Act, it remains one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever passed.

ITS NECESSARY AND RELEVANT, VOTING RIGHTS ACTis one of the most important pieces of civil rights Legislation congress has ever passed. Last year"s Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it. Rep CHARLES BOUSTANY should support this effort by cosponoring and fighting for a strong bill.

As a history teacher, I am aware of the significance of the Voting Rights Act of the '60s. I was very disappointed that the Supreme Court weakened provisions this past year. If not repaired the VRA may impact disproportionately, minorities, the poor, and the elderly, especially in some states that may support discriminatory policies.

The Supreme Court gutted the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. Without the recent bipartisan legislation introduced by Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), many Americans can be denied to cast their vote, even though fraud at the ballot box is almost non-existent.

I believe every person who is a US citizen has the Constitutional right to vote. By passing the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 it will guarantee their right. The Voting Rights Act should be strengthen and always protected. Congress can do this by passing this bill with the support of Rep. Doug Collins by cosponsoring and fighting for this bill.

We are desperate - trying any and all means available to keep this young man with his family and friends. Juan Carlos is my friend - I know him personally. I am asking that all of you sign this petition, forward i to all of your friends and also to continue to push for real reform in immigration. Carlos is a good man - or you know he wouldn't be in my life. As a young teenager when he realized he was undocumented and the ramifications of that he got a little rebellious and did some stupid things - no gangs, no drugs, just typical teenage rebellion. However he did get pulled over for driving w/o a license and when the officer asked if he had been drinking, Carlos, being the honest person he is, said he had one beer. That is sufficient to disqualify him from the Dream Act. Please support my friend.

Our lawmakers need to strengthen voting rights

We can't afford to go backwards on this issue- it would be bad politics and a moral issue.

Last year, the Supreme Court struck down vital provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. After taking a trip to Alabama to the scene of many of the protests that sparked the Act's passage, I was convinced that the Act needs to be restored to full strength in order to protect citizen's rights not just in the South but throughout the country if we are to be a nation proud of our liberties. Right now Congress can restore those provisions through the Voting Rights Amendment Act. Rep. Perry can support this effort by cosponsoring and fighting for a strong bill.
