• No Zohydro
I was addicted to pain pills for 5 years after a horrific car accident. I have been sober for about 2 years, but have a cousin fighting for his life in a hospital because of addiction to opioids and a friend who recently overdosed and left two daughters behind. We need to come together and stop this horrible epidemic.

  • Boycott Ole Ben Franklin Motors in Oak Ridge
The dealership engaged in morally and legally questionable behavior in recent dealings with the Boles family. They took advantage of a customer suffering from a neurological disorder, improperly retained a 3k down payment, and have generally treated the family with disrespect and disdain. Please join us in letting them know that we will not stand for it! • NO KINDER MOGAN CO2 PIPELINE THROUGH ABO PASS IN NEW MEXICO
THE GOVERNMENT APPEARS TO BE TURNING A BLIND EYE TO THE DEVASTATION THESE PIPELINES ARE CREATING; IN PART THIS IS DUE TO THE LACK OF AWARENESS AND/OR ACTION MANY AMERICANS ARE TAKING REGARD TO THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE. JUST BECAUSE FOSSIL FUELS ARE IN DEMAND DOES NOT MEAN COMPANIES HAVE A FREE PASS TO RUN RAMPANT ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH LITTLE IF ANY REGARD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND AMERICAN CITIZENS

  • Mr. Shatner: Negotiate to stop Priceline's tax dodging
We just learned that Priceline.com is one of the growing number of huge, multinational corporations that pay nothing in income tax. While you and I paid our share, they literally did not pay a single penny. Their tax-dodging move of choice? They deduct executive bonuses from their taxable income ... meaning their executives get huge pay-days while the public gets nothing. Good thing we already have a Priceline "negotiator" to help stop this -- Mr. William Shatner, aka Captain Kirk, and the star of Priceline.com's commercials. Join us and ask Mr. Shatner to tell Priceline.com to stop dodging their taxes, and join our effort to make sure big corporations pay their fair share.

  • American Express Fails Loyal Customers

  • Keep Robin and Paul on for the 2014 Thanksgiving Parade!
I love WGN morning news. The morning crew is the best in the business. They are hilarious, witty, and they make the news (as bad is it can be), tolerable. Paul and Robin need to do the Thanksgiving parade. It will completely ruin my holiday, and I will blame WGN, the Tribune Company, all of its affiliates, the pencil-pushing management, and anyone else I can find to blame for my burnt, dried out and half-drunk turkey. Thanks!

  • Walmart: Insufficient Working Conditions in Bangladesh
We have been researching garment factories in Bangladesh, and have found that the factories are continuously unsafe and the workers' rights are unfair. The Bangladesh Fire Safety Accord was created to improve factory conditions, and was signed by numerous prestigious companies, yet Walmart was not one of them. Not only does Walmart need to sign the accord as it is an influential corporation, but it also must go further to increase the wages and amount of training of the workers for it will encourage other companies to follow in its lead.

  • Help Stop the Comcast-Time Warner Merger
A merger of the two largest cable companies in the United States would be a bad deal for consumers, leading to less competition and likely higher prices for subscribers. And a combined Comcast-Time Warner would be in a position to slow or even block Internet traffic from content providers like Netflix or Hulu if the cable company decided they didn't want the competition, threatening net neutrality. Subscribers are frustrated with the service and price of cable service, and almost no one thinks letting the two companies with the worst consumer satisfaction ratings in the industry would somehow magically make those problems go away. One of the biggest threats posed by this proposed merger is to a free and open Internet. Already cable companies are facing loss of subscribers from unhappy customers who want to "cut the cord" and switch to online services like Netflix and Hulu. Recent court cases have struck serious blows to the principal of net neutrality , which means a merged Comcast/Time Warner would have wide latitude to start restricting bandwidth or demanding payment from online services they deem to be competition. And with Comcast already owning Universal Pictures and all of NBC, the economic incentive to discriminate against competing content providers would be very strong. Finally, a combined Comcast/Time Warner would be, quite simply, just too big, with too much power over subscribers, content providers and, quite frankly, too much influence in Washington. Comcast and Time Warner may be hoping that armies of highly paid lobbyists and attorneys can push this deal through, so we have to make sure that the voices of millions of unhappy cable subscribers who know this will be a bad deal for them are heard.

  • California Senate: Don't Let Secret Money Corrupt Democracy!
VICTORY! Governor Brown has now signed SB 27, the bill to force Dark Money non-profits to reveal their secret funders in California elections! As California Clean Money Campaign President Trent Lange said afterwards in the Sacramento Bee: “Governor Brown’s signature of SB 27 marks a turning point in the fight to reveal secret funders of political campaigns. It starts to shed light on dark money in California and serves as an example for the entire nation." Your petitions and calls worked! SB 27 became law after more than 40,000 people like you signed petitions. More than a thousand people applied extra pressure by calling their legislator. SB 27 was a great coalition effort in which the California Clean Money Action Fund worked with not only the bill author Senator Lou Correa, the sponsor FPPC, and our CA campaign finance friends at California Common Cause, California Forward, and the League of Women Voters of California; but also with national organizations like Public Citizen, CREDO Mobile, Courage Campaign, Progressives United, Represent.Us, causes.com, MoveOn.org, Money Out Voters In Coalition, MapLight, Label GMOs: California's Grassroots, Lutheran Office of Public Policy - California, Moms Across America, and others. Thanks to everybody who signed and helped us achieve this historic victory! PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE PETITION and we'll tell you how you can help pass other crucial bills to end the dominance of Big Money in politics, like SB 52, the California DISCLOSE Act and SB 1272, the Overturn Citizens United Act. -- Your friends at the California Clean Money Campaign (www.CAdisclose.org)
