Let's Move Forward on Integrated Competitive EmploymentIowa DHS Employment Outcome Vision is “Employment in the general workforce is the first priority and the expected and preferred outcome in the provision of publically funded services for all working age Iowans with disabilities." Iowa will not realize this vision without realigning the employment service system to support integrated employment. The purpose of rate redesign is to get providers the financial and professional development resources needed to deliver integrated employment services. The Employment Services Redesign Workgroup has not met since November 2013 and is waiting on approval from DHS leadership to proceed with the work. Multiple forces are driving the need to move Iowa forward: new CMS rules on integrated HCBS settings, Olmstead enforcement, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act, and Iowans with disabilities who want access to integrated employment services across the state.244 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Amy Desenberg-Wines

Chipotle: Make Sure Your Burrito Bowls are Made with Justice! My co-workers and I work at the Huhtamaki Commerce, California plant and we’ve been fighting for a voice on the job, safer working conditions and better wages. We struggle to support our families on the wages we make and sometimes have to work in 100 degree temperatures. But instead of meeting with us to discuss our concerns, Huhtamaki management has ignored us and retaliated against some of my co-workers for speaking out. Since Huhtamaki is ignoring us, we’re bringing our fight for justice to one of its customers--Chipotle. Huhtamaki supplies Chipotle with burrito bowl containers and goes to great lengths to assure the public of the high ethical standards that the companies which supply its all of its ingredients must meet—“Food with Integrity.” We think those same standards should apply to Huhtamaki. The Chipotle website boasts of its compliance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 in ensuring its food suppliers “demonstrate respect for people, the environment and farm animals” and that it routinely audits those suppliers to determine that they meet Chipotle’s high standards. Surely the company that supplies its burrito bowl containers should follow the same standards it expects from the farmers it gets its food from. Sign our petition now to Chipotle CEO Steve Ells urging Chipotle to stand up for Huhtamaki workers as strongly as it stands up for the environment and animals it uses in its food.4,366 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Huhtamaki Workers Committee

UC Hastings Students Stand with Campus WorkersUC Hastings students have a rich history of standing alongside UC Hastings workers in struggles for justice, from winning Union recognition to settling a first contract. After a year of negotiations, Hastings management is attempting to roll back critical staffing protections, freeze wages, and cut benefits. Worse, UC Hastings failed to bargain in good faith when management unilaterally implemented retirement cuts and contribution increases—an action for which the Public Employment Relations Board has issued a formal complaint. Rather than bad-faith bargaining, UC Hastings must instead follow the example set by other UC negotiators. The University of California has settled agreements with virtually all workers in the UC system. UC Hastings workers alone continue to work without a fair contract.47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Virginia Watson

Friends of Lancaster Speedway aka: 57 Gunnville Rd Lancaster NYOn December 1st 2014 at 7pm at 21 Central Ave., Lancaster, NY 14086, a group of homeowners in the general area of the racetrack are planning to have a representative bring up complaints about the track's sound levels they refer to as "NOISE" to the town board. This group of homeowners are also going to discuss with the town board the current noise ordinances. The homes in the area were mostly built after the racetrack opened in 1959 . The racetrack has been operating continuously for the past 56 years. Those that elect to build or buy a house in that general area since 1959 should not be able to force new ordinances on pre-existing businesses.2,221 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Kollander

What A Minimum Wage Hike *Really* MeansPeople should be concerned about the minimum wage for two reasons: 1) there's a major misunderstanding about what the hourly wage adds up to, and 2) the state's economy would be *boosted considerably* by putting more money in people's pockets!15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by George J. Equal Pay For Congressional Members For The State Of Representation.Hi, Congress members were elected by the people of their State to represent them, and not profit off the burdens of the people. We as a people would like fair pay and Congressional members should also have a fair pay wage as well. They are civil servants. That's why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate, which says: "Congress should get paid the median for the State they represent." Will you sign my petition? Click here to add your name:14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Levada Bamba

Illinois General Assembly: The Voters Have Spoken! Vote Now To Raise The Minimum Wage!In the recent November 4 elections, voters across the state of Illinois were asked to vote yes or no on whether the state should raise its minimum wage. This referendum passed with a huge mandate: 67% of voters—over 2 million Illinoisans—approved it. Republican and Democratic areas—urban, suburban, and rural—saw overwhelming majorities of support. The question received a majority of yes votes in almost every one of the state’s 118 House districts. Members of the General Assembly: The people of this state have spoken. We need a higher minimum wage, and we need it now. If we raise the wage to $10 an hour, over 1 million working people will get a raise. They cannot wait. Over 100,000 working single parents will get a raise. They cannot wait. One in four African-American workers, one in three Latino workers in our state will get a raise. They cannot wait another day for a paycheck they can actually live on. The will of the people is clear. We urge you to do your job, to serve your constituents, to call a vote on HB 3718 and SB 68 during this upcoming veto session.5,458 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Raise Illinois

Tell President Obama: announce a "Good Jobs" executive order for higher pay and workplace protect...Last year, in two executive actions, President Obama raised the minimum wage of federal contractors to $10.10 an hour, and ordered firms to disclose labor law violations when applying for federal contracts. Now, workers are calling on Obama to build on his prior executive actions with something bigger and more comprehensive. A new executive order would prioritize contracting with fair pay, workplace protections, and good safety records. That would have a huge impact. In 2013, the U.S. government spent $437.5 billion on domestic federal contracting. In a new analysis, Demos Senior Policy Analyst Robert Hiltonsmith shows that, $175 billion of those dollars went to contractors with a major workplace violation in the past 15 years. In Demos' original report, Underwriting Good Jobs, we showed such an order would benefit over 20 million Americans. The federal government should follow the American people and prioritize the type of contractors that do the right thing. Treating your workers fairly should be a prerequisite of receiving our tax dollars.36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lenore Palladino, Demos

Boycott Publix Until They sign Fair Food ActI recently learned of this situation, where many of the Food Buyers, Walmart (2014) Chipotle Mexican Grill (2012) Trader Joe’s (2012) Sodexo (2010) Aramark (2010) Compass Group (2009) Bon Appetit Management Company (2009) Subway (2008) Whole Foods Market (2008) Burger King (2008) McDonald’s (2007) Yum Brands (2005) have ALL signed on, but our very own, home grown grocery store, Publix, hasn't agreed to sign on. Publix is my favorite store, by far, but I'm very disappointed that this Corporation, a Florida Corporation, won't agree to 1 penny more per tomato. And almost ALL the tomatoes in Publix Stores, 90% or more, are grown and picked in the very state, they started their first store in. I will gladly pay an additional penny a tomato, for this cause and purpose. I will go right now and give a dollar to the local store, to offset any loss of profit, from any tomatoes that I will buy for the coming year and given the opportunity, many others will too! I always thought of Publix as a Family business, but even Walmart has signed on, which alone, makes a statement! Publix step up! Let's get our tomatoes locally or even from Walmart!171 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rich Franco
