• Schedule Industrial Hemp Bill SB375 for a hearing in the House and Pass it!
We respectfully ask that Hawaii's Industrial Hemp Bill be scheduled for a hearing in the house of Representatives by Agricultural Chair Clift Tsuji. Industrial hemp bill SB375 passed the Senate with no opposition and few amendments. The bill received over 200 written testimonies from local business, farmers and island people in favor of the hemp bill passing. The US is the world’s largest importer of industrial hemp. In 2013, the US imported over $550 million of industrial hemp. Hawaii imports over 70% of food, clothing, and shelter material. Our soils are depleted and filled with toxins from years of mono-cropping and the practice of using petrol-chemicals that go into our drinking water, streams and ocean. Most Americans know that industrial hemp IS NOT Marijuana and CANNOT GET YOU HIGH as it contains less than 0.3% THC. Industrial hemp does offer Hawaii a natural solution and opportunity not only to re-mediate our soil, but to help small and large farmers along with large agricultural companies to grow a crop without chemicals, clean up our environment and create new industry and jobs for Hawaii. The current industrial hemp law only allows 1 test site for research through the University of Hawaii, Manoa for 2 years. Expanding this research will allow quicker and more accurate knowledge of which industrial hemp variety grows best at what elevation and environmental conditions, while also allowing small and large farmers to develop and specialize in an end product that makes a small farm profitable-- encouraging a much needed economic incentive and boost for our Hawaii farmers. Let the people of Hawaii's voice be heard on this very important plant that will benefit all of Hawaii. Schedule a hearing today!

  • STOP THE OUTSOURCING
We want the Muncie Community School Board of Trustees to vote against paying outside nonlocal companies to manage school food services and sending money out of Muncie and the local economy for any school service. Non bargaining Workers of the Muncie Community Schools do not want to be outsourced to an outside company or even a foreign company and lose local jobs. Hold the school administration accountable for management of school services instead of approving an approach that will have long-term negative effects on the community.

  • Racist McDonald's Bosses FIRE 10 Workers. Not OK.
I was fired from the McDonald’s where I worked because I don't "fit the profile." What profile? Well, my bosses didn't explain, but they did say things like, "There are too many black people in the store." And: "We need to get the ghetto out of the store." And: "It's dark in here and needs more lightening." More than a dozen of my African American coworkers were fired with me - and many of us are filing suit against McDonald's to stop this kind of racist harassment.

  • BRING AMERICA MANUFACTURING BACK
I am sick and tired of what Globalization has done to America. Hello, we could send a man on the moon, but we can't recycle all of the junk we are buying from China, Vietnam, Pakistan, etc. wherever slave labor is available. Where everything we stand for is bought off in the name of consumerism. The next, the better, the whatever, which is all being done off shores. It is laughable that Gates, Zuckerman, all the connectors to whatever, your football crap, it goes on, are off shores and don't pay taxes to the US and rig it however, is worth it to them. Problem is, they all support Privatized Prisons...trades as (CXW)-CCA. I say time for Americans, well those not connect to FOX, take back America. WE CAN. BRING EMPLOYEE OWNED BUSINESS TO AMERICA AND LET US START TO MANUFACTURE. We are an awesome Nation. WE CAN DO ANYTHING. WE ARE MIGHTY AND AWESOME AND WE ARE A MELTING POT OF ALL NATIONS AND ALL COLORS...AS MY GOD SPEAKS OF IN MANY BIBLES AND WORDS. So, those of us who are not haters, join hands and bring AMERICA back to what it was suppose to be. Well, all history aside. Yesterday was that and today is a new day. Could we fill it with Love and create a country, where all are welcome. Interfaith woman here. Love the cultures. Without them we would just be bland. Love Persian food. Have you tried it? Curious. Lay down the hate and let us create employee owned businesses, where do I start to what we can create. Only in your hands. Not into the burka thing, but would respect it. As a woman, whose men get to dress as they please, I just see it as oppression. I could be wrong. However, I am an American Woman. So instead of destroying each other, could we join hands, and I have dealt with tons of civil rights groups, COULD WE JUST JOIN HANDS AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND IN THAT IN AMERICA, START TO CREATE EMPLOYEE OWNED MANUFACTURING. I am not into the online stores because they do not put America back to work and we can surpass China....with just an off and on switch on my popcorn pumper. Tis so easy, just join hands with ME. THE PEOPLE'S PARTY.....BRING AMERICA BACK TO LIFE. WE ARE AMERICA...THE MELTING POT...WE DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW GOOGLE, SICK....PART OF THE AMERICAN LEGISLATIVE EXCHANGE COUNCIL...WELL DROPPED OUT, BUT IN WHAT FORM. Still into world domination. However, God, My Father, the Light, 99 Names in the Qu'ran alone...is not hot into technology. I have been to Ephesus, Turkey...don't Google or do 3-d printers there. Also have seen Pompeii. So could we, as people who God gave a brain to, start to create something instead of being driving by all the techno crap. Perhaps, we could then create community. Missing that? Wonder, because if we did, you just might meet the woman or man or your dreams instead of driving into all the on-line junk. As for me, I want to create tons of employee owned business that come out of America and have kick ass quality control. Into my third pair of glasses from Walmart. All from China. WHERE DID AMERICA GO? WONDERING? GREW UP WITH AMERICAN MADE AND I WANT YOU BACK. SO HELP ME. I SAY WE DO A VOTE OF ...NO CONFIDENCE..... I am not about a PAC, I am just about gathering people who could help create a bank, stores, manufacturing. The list is endless. CREATE AMERICA. We can do it. We don't have to function in the norms. We just have to have the street smarts to build up a new world. So, I read tons of Bibles. Now my NIV study , know it the best, know that book. I believe that the the world that will go down into the hell hole, because no matter what I say, people will not buy it. However, after reading just that book and I know it pretty well, there will be an earth that comes up out of the ashes. That world is about community, and I did watch, Testament, movie, when I was young, but I also read Tolstoy, when I was 12. So this is what I think I know. While one earth will destroy itself, there will be another earth that starts to come forward. I have seen it. You are on the cusp. I dig O man, but would have liked to see him work when there was not such heart ache for him and I do think that considering his mom Stanley, he has done well. I'd give him another 4 without the ALEC congress. I say, If Jesus came for anything, He came for do overs....and I say, this is an 8 year, my birthday is all ones...and this is the start of a new beginning. Take this where you will, LOL....I say Elizabeth Green...I also dig Grayson, however, that is the human side of me, and I travel tight with the Energy Source upstairs, God, The Light, Energy, lol, the name of HIM is not describable, but that Source is present or I would not be in your face. Selah.

  • Help millions of American workers by taking a bold stance in addressing overtime pay rules.
Right now in America, salaried workers earning $23,660 per year, or just $455 per week are not eligible for overtime. That means that an assistant manager at a fast food restaurant who is earning $24,000 per year can be required to work 60 or 70 hours a week and be denied any overtime pay. The Economic Policy Institute has been working to fix this broken, outdated system. Its research shows that: • if the Department of Labor increases the salary threshold to $42,000, 3.5 million new workers will now be eligible to receive overtime pay; • if the DOL increases the threshold to $51,168 (the inflation adjusted level since 1975), 6.1 million workers will benefit; • an increase to $58,344 (covering the same share as 1975 adjusting for increased education) will benefit 7.8 million workers; • and increasing the threshold to $69,004 (covering the same share as in 1975) will help 10.4 million workers.

  • Stop the abolishment of The Jones Act
I just created a petition on "We The People" to protect the Jones Act. John McCain is attempting to abolish this Act by slipping it into legislation for the Keystone Pipeline which has nothing to do with each other. This Act ensures that American merchant companies hire American merchants. These companies employ thousands of American citizens. Abolishment will allow these companies to hire foreign merchants for pennies on the dollar. It also requires that all goods shipped between ports of the United States be carried by vessels built in the United States and owned and operated by Americans. The tax money that comes from these merchants is well in the millions. That tax money will now be going to other countries. Not to mention the national security involved with merchants from all over the world going in and out of the busiest ports in the country. Please sign this petition and repost it as many times as possible. The repeal of this act will be detrimental to thousands of American seafarers, and it's affect will be felt throught the nation by everyone. I thank you in advance for your support. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-john-mccain-abolishing-jones-act-trying-slip-amendment-keystone-pipeline-legislation/XcXP9vNw http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Marine_Act_of_1920 http://gcaptain.com/senator-john-mccain-launches-new-attack-on-jones-act/

  • Raise the Minimum Wage in Virginia!
Anyone who works full time should be able to support a family, but this holiday season many in Virginia are struggling. The minimum wage is stuck at just $7.25 an hour. We're better than this and we need your help to fix it in 2015. Senator Dave Marsden has introduced Senate Bill 681 to raise the minimum wage to $10.10. Can you help by writing a quick letter to the editor (LTE) to your newspaper in support of a living wage for all Virginia families? We've made a LTE tool, completely with talking points to help you easily submit your LTE.

  • Workers Distinction
As a common working drone I have known many people who have though I tend to end up being in a different boat. Generally speaking I am starting this petition because the common worker supports huge megabucks corporations on their backs and are usually lead along like a mule with a carrot with attractive benefit plans, that they have no intention of delivering on. I stand for integrity as does this petition.

  • Governor Brown: Do the Right Thing for Home Care Workers
Overtime pay is a right that all American workers should enjoy. But now that right is at risk for home care workers in California. California’s senior citizens and people with disabilities rely on the quality care they receive through the state's In-Home Supportive Services program (IHSS) and the dedicated home care workers who serve them. Home care workers earn very low wages for the important work they do keeping their clients healthy, safe, and out of the state’s hospitals and high-cost care facilities. Last year, Governor Jerry Brown followed President Obama's example by signing a bill into law allowing home care workers to earn overtime pay for the first time in history, starting January 1, 2015. But an out-of-state lawsuit by the for-profit home care industry was successful in convincing a federal judge to delay the implementation of this law, taking away these protections just hours before they were supposed to go into effect. Governor Brown can move forward with overtime pay for California home care workers anyway, and he's already set aside the money for it in the state budget. New we just need him to do the right thing and stand up for home care workers and the people they care for by confirming overtime pay for home care workers.

  • Sign the petition: Shame on Democrats that voted to gut Wall Street reform
On their second day in session, the U.S. House voted on a bill designed to weaken the most important protections of Dodd-Frank. To add insult to injury, 35 Democrats voted with the Republican majority. A week later, after thousands of constituents expressed their displeasure, the House voted again on HR 37. Some of the Democrats got the message and switched their votes, but 29 House Democrats still voted for the bill. The 29 House Democrats were: Brad Ashford (NE-02), Ami Bera (CA-07), Don Beyer (VA-08), Sanford Bishop (GA-02), Julia Brownley (CA-26), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), John Carney (DE-AL), Gerry Connolly (VA-11), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), John Delaney (MD-06), Bill Foster (IL-11), Gwen Graham (FL-02), Brian Higgins (NY-26), Jim Himes (CT-04), Derek Kilmer (WA-06), Ron Kind (WI-03), Rick Larsen (WA-02), Dan Lipinski (IL-03), Sean Maloney (NY-18), Patrick Murphy (FL-18), Scott Peters (CA-52), Jared Polis (CO-02), Mike Quigley (IL-05), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Kurt Schrader (OR-05), David Scott (GA-13), Terri Sewell (AL-07), Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09) and Albio Sires (NJ-08). Dodd-Frank was passed in an attempt to prevent another 2008 financial crisis by lowering risk in various parts of the U.S. financial system. Since its passage, Republicans and Democrats in league with Wall St. have done their best to eliminate its most important protections—and leave the U.S. vulnerable to another economic crisis. Votes like this are calculated moves on the part of centrist Democrats to please donors and distance themselves from the Democratic Party. This isn’t the first offense for many of these bad actors and we’ll likely see more votes like this over the next two years. Every time a Democrat abandons the Party to shill for corporations at the expense of their constituents, we must let them know we are watching and won’t forget when it comes time for re-election.

  • I support President Obama's plan for paid sick days for ALL workers!
Ahead of his State of the Union address, President Obama announced his plan to call on Congress to pass a federal paid sick days bill to give workers seven paid sick days for each year of work. President Obama's support for national paid sick days comes after big Working Families wins on the issue in Connecticut, New York City, and cities in New Jersey and Oregon! No one should have to go to work sick. But for millions of American workers, especially low wage working women, one stomach bug is all it takes to lose a week's pay or even your job. It's not healthy and it's not right. Let's pass paid sick days. Source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2015/01/14/obama-child-care-paid-leave/21768969/

  • Stand with Elizabeth Warren and Her Economic Agenda
At the National Summit on Raising Wages last week, Elizabeth Warren laid out her economic agenda, to rebuild and reorient the American economy toward the 90%+ that are getting screwed by special interest groups and Wall Street and their sympathizers in Congress. It’s exactly the kind of comprehensive, commonsense plan that this country needs: to create more good jobs that pay a living wage, by making investments in infrastructure, education, and research; to protect and expand Social Security, Medicare, and pensions; and to address the deep structural flaws in our tax and financial regulatory system. Sign our petition here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/show-your-support-for-elizabeth-warrens-economic-agenda?source=Moveon And Stand with us in supporting her fight for the middle class
