• End "Black Thanksgiving"
Preserve traditional American values- Black Friday may be a tradition, but breaking up families during the holidays should never stand. The people of U.S. deserve leisure time, and time to spend with family and friends on Thanksgiving. Retail companies should not force employees to come to work the day of Thanksgiving to tend to mass chaos when people are suppose to be spending time being grateful for what they have.

  • Wendy's: Give Ashona her Job Back
Ashona Osborne has been a dedicated employee of Wendy’s International, Inc. on the Northside in Pittsburgh since May. Ashona is the sole provider for her 4-year old son and she works hard every day to provide for him. Employees are encouraged to report questions or concerns and are assured “no retaliatory action will be taken” against them. There is a lengthy list of documented incidents where employees were disrespected, and even abused. Ashona was one of the first to stand up to this type of work environment. Her firing is in direct conflict with Wendy’s own workplace policies.

  • Talking Shutdown? Put OUR Money Where YOUR Mouth Is.
Because it's long overdue -- "accountability" ain't just a word, it's a concept RW sociopaths need to learn and learn fast. Republicans have proven time and time again they cannot lead they can only follow the money. They need to get the hell out of the way of those whose yearn for representation the Right is loathe to provide. Time to own the rhetoric they continually spew, however nonsensically.

  • Let's Move Forward on Integrated Competitive Employment
Iowa DHS Employment Outcome Vision is “Employment in the general workforce is the first priority and the expected and preferred outcome in the provision of publically funded services for all working age Iowans with disabilities." Iowa will not realize this vision without realigning the employment service system to support integrated employment. The purpose of rate redesign is to get providers the financial and professional development resources needed to deliver integrated employment services. The Employment Services Redesign Workgroup has not met since November 2013 and is waiting on approval from DHS leadership to proceed with the work. Multiple forces are driving the need to move Iowa forward: new CMS rules on integrated HCBS settings, Olmstead enforcement, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act, and Iowans with disabilities who want access to integrated employment services across the state.

  • Chipotle: Make Sure Your Burrito Bowls are Made with Justice!
My co-workers and I work at the Huhtamaki Commerce, California plant and we’ve been fighting for a voice on the job, safer working conditions and better wages. We struggle to support our families on the wages we make and sometimes have to work in 100 degree temperatures. But instead of meeting with us to discuss our concerns, Huhtamaki management has ignored us and retaliated against some of my co-workers for speaking out. Since Huhtamaki is ignoring us, we’re bringing our fight for justice to one of its customers--Chipotle. Huhtamaki supplies Chipotle with burrito bowl containers and goes to great lengths to assure the public of the high ethical standards that the companies which supply its all of its ingredients must meet—“Food with Integrity.” We think those same standards should apply to Huhtamaki. The Chipotle website boasts of its compliance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 in ensuring its food suppliers “demonstrate respect for people, the environment and farm animals” and that it routinely audits those suppliers to determine that they meet Chipotle’s high standards. Surely the company that supplies its burrito bowl containers should follow the same standards it expects from the farmers it gets its food from. Sign our petition now to Chipotle CEO Steve Ells urging Chipotle to stand up for Huhtamaki workers as strongly as it stands up for the environment and animals it uses in its food.

  • UC Hastings Students Stand with Campus Workers
UC Hastings students have a rich history of standing alongside UC Hastings workers in struggles for justice, from winning Union recognition to settling a first contract. After a year of negotiations, Hastings management is attempting to roll back critical staffing protections, freeze wages, and cut benefits. Worse, UC Hastings failed to bargain in good faith when management unilaterally implemented retirement cuts and contribution increases—an action for which the Public Employment Relations Board has issued a formal complaint. Rather than bad-faith bargaining, UC Hastings must instead follow the example set by other UC negotiators. The University of California has settled agreements with virtually all workers in the UC system. UC Hastings workers alone continue to work without a fair contract.

  • Friends of Lancaster Speedway aka: 57 Gunnville Rd Lancaster NY
On December 1st 2014 at 7pm at 21 Central Ave., Lancaster, NY 14086, a group of homeowners in the general area of the racetrack are planning to have a representative bring up complaints about the track's sound levels they refer to as "NOISE" to the town board. This group of homeowners are also going to discuss with the town board the current noise ordinances. The homes in the area were mostly built after the racetrack opened in 1959 . The racetrack has been operating continuously for the past 56 years. Those that elect to build or buy a house in that general area since 1959 should not be able to force new ordinances on pre-existing businesses.

  • What A Minimum Wage Hike *Really* Means
People should be concerned about the minimum wage for two reasons: 1) there's a major misunderstanding about what the hourly wage adds up to, and 2) the state's economy would be *boosted considerably* by putting more money in people's pockets!

  • Equal Pay For Congressional Members For The State Of Representation.
Hi, Congress members were elected by the people of their State to represent them, and not profit off the burdens of the people. We as a people would like fair pay and Congressional members should also have a fair pay wage as well. They are civil servants. That's why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate, which says: "Congress should get paid the median for the State they represent." Will you sign my petition? Click here to add your name:
