• Tax reform: no action until we see Trump's tax returns
Simple fairness and transparency is the issue. Since Trump has so clearly placed his own financial interest ahead of the country's well-being, we must make sure that he doesn't manipulate the tax code for his personal advantage.

  • Infrastructure Before Border Wall
This country is looking worse than a 3rd world country. It used to be a beautiful country to drive through. Now the roads look like those in the poorest of countries. This is one of the riches countries in the world. But, we are letting our country look like we are treating her, like a bedraggled, unloved streetwalker. Let's be proud again. Let's start by doing the right thing by our country and fixing her up. Maybe then we will be proud enough in her to fix up the mess her government is in.

  • Repeal Right To Work Nationally
This is about repealing Right To Work nationally and replacing it with a bill that would allow Labor Unions to collect union dues from all union represented employees in all 50 states. In Right To Work states like Florida I have personally seen the negative effects of Right To Work such as low wages, no benefits and poor working conditions. Right to work means workers have no rights. Right To Work is WRONG.

  • Legalize Marijuana in Wisconsin to Cover Transportation Shortfall
Our state currently faces a $1B shortfall in our transportation budget. The current mood seems to favor toll roads, but we would argue that legalizing marijuana, and taxing it appropriately, would provide far more income to the state among the numerous other benefits that legalization would bring. One only needs to look to legal states that are benefiting from the novelty tourism, the reduction in opiate use and related deaths, the reduction in drug related crimes and the massive influx of money and jobs associated with this new industry. If we do it now, we can ride the wave of novelty and beat states like Illinois and Minnesota to the punch. If we are too late, we will lose out on BILLIONS of dollars, if not more.

  • U.S. Congress: Vote NO on H.R.10, The Financial CHOICE Act of 2017.
The Financial Crisis of 2008 has devastated millions of Americans. It has left millions with lackluster credit scores, bankruptcy, and homelessness. My family was severely affected by the crisis. My parents lost two of their businesses and almost lost their home. Albeit situations have improved, Republicans are looking to bring the U.S backwards. Stop them now.

  • RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 PER HOUR
Momentum is building to raise the minimum wage. Several states have already taken action — Connecticut has boosted it to $10.10 by 2017, the Maryland legislature just approved a similar measure, Minnesota lawmakers just reached a deal to hike it to $9.50. A few cities have been more ambitious — Washington, D.C. and its surrounding counties raised it to $11.50, Seattle is considering $15.00 Senate Democrats will soon introduce legislation raising it nationally to $10.10, from the current $7.25 an hour. All this is fine as far as it goes. But we need to be more ambitious. We should be raising the federal minimum to $15 an hour. Here are seven reasons why: 1. Had the minimum wage of 1968 simply stayed even with inflation, it would be more than $10 an hour today. But the typical worker is also about twice as productive as then. Some of those productivity gains should go to workers at the bottom. 2. $10.10 isn’t enough to lift all workers and their families out of poverty. Most low-wage workers aren’t young teenagers; they’re major breadwinners for their families, and many are women. And they and their families need a higher minimum. 3. For this reason, a $10.10 minimum would also still require the rest of us to pay Medicaid, food-stamps, and other programs necessary to get poor families out of poverty — thereby indirectly subsidizing employers who refuse to pay more. Bloomberg View describes McDonald’s and Walmart as “America’s biggest welfare queens” because their employees receive so much public assistance. (Some, like McDonalds, even advise their employees to use public programs because their pay is so low.) 4. A $15/hour minimum won’t result in major job losses because it would put money in the pockets of millions of low-wage workers who will spend it — thereby giving working families and the overall economy a boost, and creating jobs. (When I was Labor Secretary in 1996 and we raised the minimum wage, business predicted millions of job losses; in fact, we had more job gains over the next four years than in any comparable period in American history.) 5. A $15/hour minimum is unlikely to result in higher prices because most businesses directly affected by it are in intense competition for consumers, and will take the raise out of profits rather than raise their prices. But because the higher minimum will also attract more workers into the job market, employers will have more choice of whom to hire, and thereby have more reliable employees — resulting in lower turnover costs and higher productivity. 6. Since Republicans will push Democrats to go even lower than $10.10, it’s doubly important to be clear about what’s right in the first place. Democrats should be going for a higher minimum rather than listening to Republican demands for a smaller one. 7. At a time in our history when 95 percent of all economic gains are going to the top 1 percent, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour isn’t just smart economics and good politics. It’s also the morally right thing to do. Call your senators and members of Congress today to tell them $15 an hour is the least American workers deserve. You can reach them at 202-224-3121. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION!

  • Tell the Senate: Protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
The House already passed the Wrong CHOICE Act. Now it heads to the Senate. After the big banks crashed the economy, people took action and won reforms to rein in the abuses of Wall Street. A big part of that was establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB is the first federal financial watchdog whose entire job is making sure Wall Street can't get away with the tricks and traps that bleed millions out of our pockets. The Bureau has recovered $12 BILLION dollars in ill-gotten gains for over 27 million people ripped off by the predatory financial industry. But here's the thing. Republicans love the campaign donations they get from Wall Street bankers, payday lenders, and hedge fund managers. They are itching to destroy the CFPB and let Wall Street go wild. That's why they've introduced an Orwellian named "CHOICE Act" that would gut the CFPB and give Wall Street more power to gamble with our economy. We know full well this bill is the WRONG CHOICE for our families. It just passed the House. Now it heads to the Senate. Sign this petition to send a message to the US Senate: You work for us, not Wall Street. We need our government to do more to rein in predatory lenders and Wall Street bankers, not give them a free pass to crash the economy again.

  • Stop the Anti-Union "Employee Rights Act"
Corporate-backed special interests are pushing hard to pass the “Employee Rights Act.” This bill would be one of the single-greatest attack to workers and unions in decades. The bill is disguised as a bill to protect workers, but in fact, it does the opposite and gives more power and more wealth to CEOs and the corporations they represent. According to an EPI study, since the 1970s, as union membership has declined in our nation, so has the average pay for all workers. As union membership dropped, the richest 10% of Americans are now taking home 47% of all of the nation’s wealth, one of the highest levels ever. Unions help all workers, not just those who have one on their jobs. The ERA will gut unions and strip workers of their ability to voice opinions and make changes in their workplaces. Stop the so-called “Employee Rights Act” now! Source: http://www.epi.org/publication/as-union-membership-has-fallen-the-top-10-percent-have-been-getting-a-larger-share-of-income/
