Make the Prop 204 tax increase permanent!Education is not just a benefit for the wealthy, or a blunt instrument powered by "special interests", it's an investment by, and for, the growth of the larger society. The legislature has already shown a willingness to divert foreclosure-assistance money from its intended purpose, and Arizona's underfunded schools can't afford more of the same. Public education made my life possible...will it be there for tomorrow's kids?78 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erika Jahneke

Universities equating the cost of education with the actual salary expected after graduation.Lowering future student debt, making it more harmonious with the fact that most newly graduates are unable to find well paid jobs in the competitive market that emphasizes not only education but Experience which recent graduates do not posses. In addition, not finding a well paid full-time job will only lead to the interest compounding and adding to the total student debt, which in some cases will make it difficult to make a dent and and live a descent life at the same time.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Luz Ospina

stop uc campus from only recruting out of state studentsMy daughter wishes to go to UC Berkeley, ufortunatly UC campus try to recrute out of state students first so that they can get the extra out of state tution. This leaves Ca residents out or they have to look for other collges. Ca students should be considered first for any UC opening then out of state students.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by danyne pierre

CANCEL THE 50% RESIDENCY RULE AT LACCD COLLEGESI attended three different colleges in the LACCD district. When it was time for me to petition for my certificates I was informed by the graduation department that I was not eligible for two of them because I did not spend 50% of my residency at "Pierce College". When I transferred I spoke with the "Head of the Department" in the field that I majored in and several counslers who never informed me of this rule that their counsel members made up. I am still fighting for my certifcation's from this college.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cassandra Bell

Urge Congress to mandate that the NCAA abolish amateurism bylaws regarding student-athletes abili...In 1998, the NCAA began talk about resuming pay for student-athletes and a $2,000 stipend, but 14 years later it is yet to happen. This petition is to request that Congress mandate that the NCAA abolish all bylaws under section 12 (12.5.2.1, 12.5.2.3.2, 12.5.3, and 12.5.4) that forbid student-athletes from accepting any remuneration for the use of their name or picture to advertise, recommend, endorse, or promote the sale or use of commercial products and services. The splendor of abolishing NCAA bylaws under section 12 is that this strategy will help schools avoid Title IX and worker compensation issues. Moreover, universities and athletic departments will not have to directly compensate student-athletes because the free-market will provide enough revenue streams for student-athletes who deserve to further prosper. Simply put, this petition is aimed at "freeing" all student-athletes to participate in the free market.86 of 100 SignaturesCreated by The Student-Athletes Human Rights Project

Honor Neil ArmstrongThe US educational system is in shambles; various studies have shown our students' skills & knowledge slipping below many others in other countries. Some politicians have said that they would dismantle the Department of Education, others want to further defund expenditures for basic research & development. In memory of Neil Armstrong, educator & astronaught, let us recommit to education as well as to research & development. This is a good use of Federal monies.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dixie Dickinson

Affordable education for our childrenWe all want to provide a good education for our children and its discouraging to see what a college education costs. The obvious reason is because of the-- availability of government backed loans--reduce or eliminate this and you will see tuition come down--supply and demand--forgiving student loans for taxpayers to pay is not the answer. Reduce the supply, and costs will come down.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by nick petitte
