So many lives have been taken by the effects of climate change. The consequence of our insufficient action is a threat to all of us worldwide.

The current moratorium on oil and gas exploration, drilling and extraction within San Miguel County will expire on February 13, 2013 (UPDATE: The vote was pushed to March 12). The moratorium must be extended until the fall of 2014. In 2011 Congress has tasked the EPA to conduct a study of the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") on drinking water resources. This study is scheduled to be completed and available during the first half of 2014. Given the drought conditions in San Miguel County and New Mexico in general and the potential risks from fracking to our limited sources of fresh water that are vital for residential and agricultural use, the current moratorium on oil and gas exploration, drilling and extraction within San Miguel County must be extended until the fall of 2014.

Oregon Department of Agriculture has approved 2,500 acres of GMO canola in the Willamette Valley. Many Oregonian are upset and want their voice to be heard on the subject. That is why I created this petition, as simple reminder for all our elected officials that Oregonians want to ban GMOs.

We are being poisoned by the foods we are being offered in our stores. Through the Genetically Modified Organisms we are being poisoned. This particularly affects children through their health and behaviors.

This petition in short is my own personal attempt to save America from itself and allow our nations wildlife and habitat to forever thrive under this constitutional amendment which I hope to have help incorperating into the Endangered Species Act, which is the only soverign voice that nature has among our laws to ensure it endours this age of industrialized expansion of capitolism. It would also aid in teaching us as Americans that we must use our freedoms to build our homes and lives within the balance of nature, instead of us whining over such inconviences like local habitat and wildlife which might get in the way of our hunting hobbies, or golf courses. It's time to live responsibly and freedom and pursuit of happiness should extend past our own species, to the rest of earth's creations.

With community encouragement, our county recently turned down an offer to use fracking waste (undisclosed toxic chemical waste from hydrofracking) as de-icing 'brine' on our roads. Our water source, a well, is about 6 feet from the road. Chemicals used on our roads can stick to our shoes and run-off into our water sources. Legislation and oversight of this practice needs to be immediate and strong, yet doesn't yet exist. Let's get it started.

Southern California Edison has never been forthcoming about the hazards of nuclear fall out from this ill-designed plant. It is a danger to all life in Southern California. We need more solar and wind energy, and not another dirty, unsafe nuclear power plant.

Many Americans are unable to afford a small home as they cannot afford the current building requirements. While it is feasible to build a small home with solar for under $30k including property, it is currently illegal to do so without costly unnecessary non-green systems, doubling the cost adding an additional $15k - $45k to the cost pricing the home out of reach for potentially millions of Americans.
