• Lauras OR Water Testing Law
I am asking that we have mandatory water testing of wells prior to connection to a home. In Oregon people have no protection under the clean water act if you are servicing under 10 people. Houses are rented while landlords are pulling water from streams. With the ground water and surfice water contamination and the natural high minerals that can cause health issues, we need to test before pumping contaminates into homes. My daughter and our family moved into my elderly parents home. They received a low income housing rehabilitation loan. the driller was in and out in a day, no flushing or tests. The water was so filthy you could not see your legs in a bathtub. My youngest began to experience stomich pains and gas. She contracted 3 protozoa. The health Dept tested water positive for total coliform. Thats where the walls came up. The regulating body for well construction OR Water Resource refused to hold contractor to the laws, EPA and DEQ had no authority nor seemed to care. We need protection under the law because without potable water, your home is a danger to your family. No one is watching the safety of the water.

  • Wildlife Management Change
The present Wildlife Management Plan fails to protect, restore, or enhance the lives of our beautiful wolves. Time after time Wildlife Management has failed to do their job, resulting in massive, brutal, and unnecessary slaughter of our beloved wolves. This is no longer acceptable!!!

  • Protect the environment and support rural communities in this year’s Farm Bill
The Farm Bill is the most important piece of legislation for rural America. But its future could hinge on a key meeting in early February between two adversaries: House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson (D-MN). The Farm Bill funds critical programs that create rural jobs and revitalize rural communities. Yet some Republicans support using the bill to slash investments in the future of small towns and family farms. They even aim to cut the Conservation Stewardship Program, which prevents farmers and ranchers from being able to improve soil and water conservation. This has gone too far. Tell Congressman Boehner and Congressman Peterson to protect the environment and support small towns and family farms in this year’s Farm Bill.

  • Put Me On Your List NRA
The NRA just came out with their "enemy list" where they name the organizations and people who do not subscribe to their views. We need to let the NRA know that their fear tactics and policies are out of line with what the majority of Americans believe. Gun-control advocates are not out to take away all your guns, but we are trying to put in place common sense measures that will keep us all safer. If the NRA wants to 'demonize' people as enemies for opposing their views, put me on your list NRA!

  • Governor Cuomo: Don't Let Anyone Frack with New York
We need to convince Governor Cuomo to keep the gas companies out of New York because fracking will ruin our water supply as it has done in Pennsylvania. My friends in rural Pennsylvania can't run their taps at all. New York should stand strong against the gas companies and protect our most valuable resource: clean water for every citizen of this state.

  • Upgrade the Beethoven School Playground
The Beethoven Playground is heavily used by both the school and the community. In the past 2 years of bringing my children there on a regular basis I have seen too many children trip on the curbs, nearly fall off the tall play structure, eat the wood chips and disappear behind the bushes. Improvements need to be made to make it a safer and more enjoyable place for our kids to play.

  • Will the zipper on your new pants be radioactive?
The US Dept of Energy (DOE) plans to dump 14,000 tons of radioactive scrap metal into the marketplace for use in the manufacturing of consumer products, such as zippers, belt buckles, eyeglass frames, jewelry, watches, silverware, toys, pet bowls and leashes. This action is being fast-tracked, with little regard for public comment. Source: http://www.huntingtonnews.net/63589 http://consortiumnews.com/2013/02/04/recycling-radioactive-metals-disputed/

  • Emmision controls
Dear Governor Hickenlooper: I was driving back home from the doctor’s office and ahead coming toward me was a cloud of smoke. It must be a car on fire, I thought. I wasn’t; it was a small truck with a billowing cloud of emission engulfing all the surrounding vehicles and heading in my direction. Commercial vehicles are exempt from emissions control; ostensibly our state does not want to hurt business. Breathing dirty air is not hurting business, businesses can and do thrive when work is to be done. This means more businesses and more workers. Our choice is whether we spend money on health care, treating respiratory problems (I am sure there are many other health problems caused by breathing in foul exhausts) or whether we choose to spend money on emission testing and pollution controls. How can we even think we are creating a healthy business climate when we are creating a sickly citizenry, since businesses exist for all of its citizens how does this benefit business? We all breathe in the same air. Isn’t it easier and less costly to transplant vehicle parts than it is to transplant lungs, hearts, and minds? It is less costly for all involved to control all emissions.
