AS MANY SIGNATURES AS POSSIBLE TO START AN AMENDMENT ON THE STATE BALLOT FOR 2014 FOR THE SAFETY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND OUR WATER SUPPLY TO BAN FRACKING. LET THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO DECIDE IF WE WANT FRACKING OR A BAN?

Recent flooding in New York City is just the tip of the iceberg. We need to do something about global warming now. If we were to spend $80 billion of the $800 billion U.S. defense budget on global warming imitativeness (tidal, wind, solar energy, conservation, new technologies) we would stimulate the economy, reduce disaster costs (NYC is $50 billion alone), and reduce national security threats. In addition, if the rest of the world followed our example, it would be a more peaceful place to live.

Counties and Towns all across the nation have economic development funds available for their communities. They also have sustainable energy sources such as wind, or solar, or bio-mass, or wave power, or bio-waste, etc. By using the already existing funds and the resources at hand, many jobs will be created in those locales by working towards the goal of getting off the grid. It would also be a source of income for those towns and counties as they could sell any excess power back to the grid. Cities and industries can contribute to energy production but their resources are not plentiful enough to provide all the energy they need. That is the role of large energy sources such as wind farms and solar arrays. This could be a national goal which would empower and excite people at the local level across the entire country.

I live in Wondervu, atop of Hwy 72. Construction of an enlargement of the dam would cause irreparable harm to elk/deer migration, to the , peace and quiet of our area (60+ big trucks a day for several years on our two lane road), danger to recreational bikers on our narrow roads, possible danger to our wells (we are not on an aquifer, but have fracture wells which may be impacted by dynamiting AND Arvada/Denver is implementing NO water conservation efforts allowing open fountains and watering the medians... yada, yada.

As a climate activist, I see an opening to revise U.S. tax policy, which now supports oil, gas, and coal companies -- the biggest polluters of the environment -- through subsidies. Although Pres. Obama may not be able to get national legislation to slow global warming, he can get these subsidies reversed with our support. And perhaps add subsidies for renewables. That means, we can reduce emissions through the tax code.

The Sportsmen Act would allow 41 US hunters to bring home polar bear carcasses that are trapped in Canada because of a ban on trophy imports, while polar bears are threatened with extinction as the arctic ice cap melts. This bill will also ban the EPA from regulating lead ammo and tackle, while eagles, condors and 75 species of birds are needlessly poisoned by lead left in the wild.

When I walk up and down my market's aisles (including my health food stores) I wonder why I am worrying about whether or not the product I select is genetically modified and is safe for my family to consume. I ask "How did this stressful, unnecessary anxiety wrap itself around our food?" Americans should feel confident about the wholesomeness of our food supply. We need our government at the federal level to step in and stop Monsanto's tyranny!

Dear President Lavine, Vice President Matthewson, The CalArts Board of Trustees, and The CalArts Board of Overseers, Climate change is accelerating. We are witnessing the increasing impacts of a warming planet more and more consistently; in this last year alone our country experienced record-breaking heat, droughts, and hurricanes, which impacted hundreds of thousands of people and cost our country hundreds of billions of dollars. Hurricane Sandy alone caused $50bn in damages. Experts agree that global warming caused by humans burning fossil fuels will continue to accelerate and intensify these tragic climate disasters. The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming; we cannot safely burn even half of global fossil-fuel reserves without dangerously warming the planet for several thousand years. As public pressure to confront climate change builds, we call on The California Institute of the Arts to immediately freeze any new investment in fossil-fuel companies, and to divest within five years from direct ownership and from any commingled funds that include fossil-fuel public equities and corporate bonds. We believe such action on behalf of CalArts will not only be a sound decision for our institution’s financial portfolio, but also for the wellbeing of its current and future graduating classes, who deserve the opportunity to graduate with a future not defined by climate chaos. For the good of our students and our nation, and to preserve the quality of life for this and future generations worldwide, we call upon you to join a growing movement of schools around the country that are committed to preventing a more extreme climate by moving The California Institute of the Arts endowment beyond fossil fuels.

Due to food allergies & health issues we need better labeling of GMOs, pesticides & herbicides. Consumers have a right to know what they are eating.

Nevada Energy's management of our energy infrastructure is inefficient, shortsighted, environmentally unsustainable and costly to consumers. Public control and transformation of this vital resource is imperative. A Public Utility District to replace private, for-profit energy management is called for here.

California has always been a progressive state, from the gold rush to the tech rush, California and Californians have made the smart moves to make this state the best in the union. Now it is time to continue that progressive attitude on something that not only will benefit us with new jobs and technology, but will benefit our children and their children's children. Its time to make the smart and bold investment in clean energy, and California with its vast array of intelligent residents, ideal climate factors and excellent resources is ready to lead the country, let alone the world, in showing what can be achieved when we work together for a better tomorrow.

Defeat S.3525, sponsored by Sen. John Tester (D., Montana) which will permit the importation of 41 polar bear carcasses from Canada, slaughtered 4 years ago, and ruled as illegal to import to US.
