This petition is my way of fighting for my 2-year-old son's quality of life (he has reactive airway disease thanks to living in Portland) — and for the lives of every Oregonian suffering from health issues caused by preventable air pollution. The fact is, our air may look clean, but it isn't. And after our state lawmakers failed to act to reduce air pollution during the 2017 legislative session, the only chance we've got is to hold our Governor accountable for the Cleaner Air Oregon process. Industry has killed every other attempt we've made to add teeth to our state's air regulations. But I'm not giving up and I hope you won't, either!

Mitch McConnell wants to push a disastrous dirty energy bill through Congress – and the vote could happen in a matter of days. This bill would keep us addicted to fossil fuels and be a disaster for people and the planet. Locking in dependence on fossil fuels for decades to come would critically undermine efforts to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. Passing a bill to accelerate approval of fracked-gas exports and give FERC more authority to rubber-stamp pipeline approvals puts us on a collision course for disaster. We need to STOP this bill and push for a rapid transition to 100% renewable energy instead. Demand that Senator Schumer uses his power as the Senate Minority Leader to stop this terrible bill.

We the people feel that we are taxed without representation because we are not part of the lobbying industry and all entities involved. To list the violations to the first amendment that are directed against us--the US Citizens----- Under the Bill of rights --- Section ---freedom of the press and free speech. Prohibiting the rights of citizens from petitioning of governmental redress of grievances. The right of individuals to express themselves without government interference or regulations. The right to petition the government for the redress of grievances guarantees the people the right to ask the government to provide relief through the courts or governmental action. The Kudzu Coalition of West Alabama requests that the City of Tuscaloosa: 1. Physically post warning signs at all downstream affected public use and access areas including parks, boat launches, fishing piers, bridges, and trails 2. Post warnings within 12 hours of sewage spills on the City of Tuscaloosa’s website and social media sites stating the location of spill on map and the approximate time of spill. In addition, we would like to know if the spill is ongoing or has it stopped, size of spill, were there industrial chemicals from local industries, and which receiving streams were affected. After the spill, did water testing occur? If so, please post the results. 3. Publicly advertise and maintain an opt-in process that allows interested persons to obtain public notification of SSOs via email, text message, and/or automated phone call. Discharge points are located along numerous streams throughout Tuscaloosa County. Notices should be posted where sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) have been identified and on every waterway leading away from spill sites (For details on a recent spill, see Sewage spill in Tuscaloosa".) Given the number of accidental sewage spills over the past year, proper warning of potential discharge is necessary to protect children, small animals, and residents. Regular discharges, as well as spills, need to be clearly indicated at all times. We are grateful to City of Tuscaloosa staff as well as local legislators, councilors, and other stakeholders for addressing this much-needed issue. Water is beautiful. Playing in sewage effluent is not.

Every day 64-year-old pipelines push nearly 23 million gallons of oil through the heart of the Great Lakes. What if they ruptured? These aging pipelines, called Line 5, are owned by Canadian company Enbridge and lie exposed in the water at the bottom of the Straits of Mackinac, where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. A spill here would be catastrophic. Another Enbridge pipeline ruptured in Michigan in 2010 and spilled 1 million gallons of heavy crude oil into the Kalamazoo River. It was the largest land-based oil spill in U.S. history, and is took years to clean up. Enbridge's Line 5 pipeline through the Great Lakes is 15 years older than that one was when it ruptured. PIPELINES FAIL. THESE AGING PIPELINES IN THE STRAITS ARE NOT WORTH THE RISK. WE NEED YOU TO HELP PREVENT A DISASTER. Michigan should not put the Great Lakes, our economy, health, drinking water, fisheries, and way of life at risk from a catastrophic oil spill any longer. Michigan's year-long study of Line 5 alternatives has been released and the state is gathering public comment. Now is the time to submit your comment calling for the only way to truly protect the Great Lakes from an oil spill: shut down the Enbridge Line 5 pipelines through the Straits of Mackinac.

I am starting this petition because naively, I believed that old growth was sacred and that the forest service would never build roads or log in such a precious place. At a recent field trip looking at a huge logging project in Western Montana, I asked the economist if they would build roads through old growth. He said yes without batting an eye. I also discovered that they are running roads in old growth and a known Goshawk nesting sight in another project. I thought the Forest Service was a steward of the forest. I thought they wanted to care for it and protect it. But instead, the Montana forests are forced to produce board feet based on logging mandates made by politicians and timber lobbyists. So they must get it in any and every way possible which includes destroying old growth.

Senate Bill 775 needs our support to counter an alternative proposal from Big Oil that does nothing to improve cap and trade, keeping the carbon price very low for years. WHAT WE NEED: A HIGH PRICE COLLAR TO PRICE CARBON with a floor of $60 and a ceiling of $120/ton of CO2 by 2030 AN END TO OFFSETS that allow local pollution to continue AN END TO FREE POLLUTION ALLOWANCES A CLIMATE DIVIDEND that returns revenue to every CA resident TO DEAL WITH SURPLUS ALLOWANCES from the current program to not undermine the post-2020 program WITH ACCELERATION OF RENEWABLE POWER in the state, as Community Choice Energy takes off county by county, along with technological advances in energy storage and in small wind, like PRIMO WIND out of San Diego, we are now primed as a state to transition to a CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY and lead the rest of the US. SB775 helps move that crucial path forward. SB 775 would provide the mechanism to effectively bring about a market-driven transition to clean energy by amending California’s cap and trade system to establish a predictable, steadily rising price on fossil fuels with corresponding dividends returned to all adult residents. That would create society wide demand for green energy technology creating new jobs and industries and make clean energy a driving force of our economy. TERMS: From the Discovery Center to the falls will be a designated zone allowing commercialization. This area of the gorge is already commercialized. From the Discovery Center to the NYS Power Authority will be preserved in it's natural state (as natural as possible at this point); no commercialization in this area (Whirlpool & Devil's Hole included), as well as no man-made improvements (railings; limiting access to certain areas, etc.)
