It’s a nightmare each year having to switch over to daylight savings time when we can easily keep standard time all year. Switching over means losing a whole hour of sleep, and I get up very early in the morning to go swimming. Daylight savings time does not save energy; nowadays, more and more people are getting up and leaving early in the morning for work.

Senate President Ruggerio's undemocratic rule change (bill S0250A) allows the Senate president to kick senators off their favorite committee with a weak excuse, and bans Rhode Islanders from holding signs at Senate hearings. These alone are enough reason to oppose Ruggerio's proposal, and it has been condemned by Common Cause and Rhode Islanders for Reform. The bill undermines democracy in other ways too. (As I read it, it seems to rewrite debate rules so top senators get the lion's share of debate time while other senators' speaking time is limited, and it also lets reporters be barred from recording pictures of what happens in hearings, if the chair decides the pictures are a "distraction".) We don't need Rhode Island's government to become even more dominated by powerful insiders, which would allow more corrupt laws and projects to be rammed through. This bill would discourage healthy habits, discourage commuting alternatives, and put a burden on the underserved populations. In addition, the money collected would not be used for biking infrastructure to offer safe dedicated bike lanes.

The Attorney General of the United States is the highest legal official in our land. To have a person occupying that office who does not support one of the core principles of the 1st amendment goes against the very nature of American justice and democracy and thus should not be allowed to serve in such a capacity.

Donald Trump claimed he was "proud" to "take the mantle " for setting down the government. This unprecedented, authoritarian act caused crushing economic chaos -- especially for 800,000 federal workers. Since Trump has claimed "ownership" of the shutdown, he should be held liable for the consequences, including reimbursement of the $3 billion in "unrecoverable losses" he inflicted on the country. This could become a precedent to prevent any future presidential actions that would result in clearly predictable economic damage to the nation.

SAVE Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club Petition To Stop Rezoning! We, the Citizens of Pinellas County and those of us who enjoy the open air recreational spaces, hereby submit this petition to stop any re-zoning attempts of the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club located at 8001 Cumberland Road, Seminole, Florida 33777 in unincorporated Pinellas County. The Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club is currently zoned as recreational open with a county property use code of 3855 (Regulation, PAR 3 Golf Course). The Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club represents a gem for our county and for our fellow residents. A change in zoning would lead to a lower quality of life for residents who live in neighborhoods surrounding the golf course and for our county as a whole. Rezoning would allow developers to change the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club from the 140 acres of rolling natural vegetation to hundreds of homes, townhomes and/or condos replacing grass with concrete and asphalt adding to the already dense population in the county and putting additional strain on our infrastructure with added homes and traffic. Re-zoning would disturb and disrupt the sensitive ecosystem that is home to many native Florida species of plant and wildlife. Rezoning would subject the entire community to a lengthy construction process where residents would be exposed to dangerous conditions, pollution, noise and a poor quality of life in general. We want Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club to be saved so future generations can enjoy what this open green space has provided millions for the past 50+ years. We request the Pinellas Board of Commissioners/Zoning Board: • Deny any changes to the current Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club Zoning. • Protect the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club’s “Green Open Space” and prohibit any construction of residences. • Maintain our “Green Open Space” so that generations of Eagles, Egrets, Otters, Ducks, Geese, Coyotes, Owls, and others may continue to have their rightful nesting and living areas. • Protect the Trees & Native Greenery that clean our air and provide habitat for the hundreds of animals that call it home. We strongly object to an out of state developer creating a Community Development District where the Bardmoor community would be taxed in order to pay for construction of the Developer’s project.

Those in Congress do not make enough money to be millionaires. There seems to be quite a few and their excessive monies should be investigated.
