I write this petition so that we can build a coalition against districts of unusual shape, which often characterize gerrymandered electoral maps. Care will have to be taken to identify what constitutes an edge in the border of a district, to distinguish between borders which coincide with bodies of water, or external political boundaries, which may include sharp changes of direction, but which should be considered as part of a single edge -- as opposed to artificially legislated edges, whose complexity is engineered without regard to geographical barriers.

By merging election day and Veterans day, and establishing the first friday after the first Monday in November as national elections day, all Americans, regardless of race, age, or social standing, will have an equal opportunity to vote. Further, the national recognition of our veterans on a day when elections are on everyone's mind will compound the national respect for these heros.

As the cannabis market moves forward US companies are being forced to play a game of wait and see. By continuing to keep cannabis illegal we are robbing investors and entrepreneurs of their chance to profit in an emerging market projected to be worth $18 billion by 2021. Jeff Sessions' attitude towards cannabis, as the Attorney General, is negatively influencing what could be a billion-dollar boon to the US economy and therefore does not deserve the title of Attorney General.

He continues to wage a war on marijuana; reversing regulations and threatening future advancement of medicinal use and research. Let’s make sure he’s practicing what he preaches. Demand Jeff Sessions be tested for the use of any and all narcotics, beginning with marijuana. He should have no problem proving his moral superiority if he’s got nothing to hide.

Republicans have been leaking selective information from investigations into President Trump's ties to Russia by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees. In the Jan 2, 2018 New York Times op-ed, Simpson and Fritsch called on Republicans to release the full transcripts of their testimony to three congressional panels, including the Senate Judiciary Committee, "so that the American people can learn the truth." Republicans have refused. This affects all Americans as it deals with investigation of Russian involvement in our election.

The US attorney for the Southern District of New York is arguably the MOST important for investigating matters pertaining to Donald Trump, and all Trump's associates (economic and political, including Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr.). This is the office formerly held by Preet Bahara (who Trump promised to keep on, before *abruptly* firing him barely 2 months later). Now Trump has appointed a croney, a partner of Trump's former political attack dog Rudy Giuliani. ***IF Robert Mueller is fired, the evidence gathered would go to this office***. We must not allow a Trump henchman to hold this office---the future of the Republic is at stake. Tell your Senators, via this petition, to say NO to Geoffrey Berman!

I cannot stand by and watch animals die in the freezing cold or starve to death because they have been abandoned. This is very common in SC and it's time to put a stop to it. Please sign this petition to help save these poor animals from any more pain and suffering.

Fusion GPS is the firm that hired Christopher Steele to compile the collection of intelligence reports that has come to be known as the "Steele Dossier." These reports, many of which have been subsequently and independently confirmed, detail the Kremlin's efforts to get Donald Trump elected in the 2016 presidential election. Fusion GPS has given a total of over 21 hours of testimony to three different Congressional committees about the details of Christopher Steele's investigation and the firm publicly called for publication of the transcripts of that testimony in the following New York Times op-ed published this week. The American people have a right to know how our election was influenced in order to prevent it from happening again in elections to come. When asked in the past if he would vote in favor of publicly releasing the transcripts of Fusion GPS' testimony Chuck Grassley, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, had indicated that he would vote in favor of release once the process of reviewing the transcripts for redaction was complete. Recent reporting indicates that process is complete so there is no reason those transcripts and any others from Fusion GPS should not be made available to the public. Americans have the right to know the truth!

What are the major progressive accomplishments in this decade in Maine? A higher minimum wage. Expanded health insurance for struggling working people. Ranked choice voting. How did we get them? Through popular referendum votes. So what is the response of the political establishment? LD 1726, which would cripple the referendum process by prohibiting the collection of signatures on election days. We are winning on issues, so now they are attempting to change the rules and put restrictions on our democracy. Please join me and say "NO" to LD 1726.
