• The Removal of Dr. Ben Carson's Exhibit From The National Museum of African American History and ...
On 6 March 2017, Dr. Carson stated in his message as the Director of Housing and Urban Development: “That's what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. but they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity in this land.” This is not the first time Dr. Carson has either presented “alternative facts” or discriminated opinions towards African Americans and other Americans. Some of Carson’s other statements towards Civil Rights are linked in the following: http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Ben_Carson_Civil_Rights.htm While Dr. Carson is regarded as a famed neurosurgeon, author, 2016 presidential candidate and Director of Housing and Urban Development, his comments are counterproductive, crass and ignorant for such a man of his position. Such rhetoric is harmful, hurtful and diminishes the struggles, accomplishments, sacrifice and perseverance of African Americans and those whose history fill the halls of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. His view of African Americans feeds into a false perception and narrative that African slaves were no different from other American immigrants. No other immigrant in America has faced even half the horror, abuse, neglect and overall disregard as the African slave and sadly African Americans today. While Dr. Carson is free to have his beliefs as an American, his opinions and rhetoric are not free to have a high profile position in a museum that is supposed to recognize the people he consistently mitigates and continues to portray a negative, fabricated stereotype.

  • Republicans seek to impose their conservative agenda on the Appellate Court
Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake has introduced another bill to split up the 9th Circuit Court, which Republicans feel is too liberal. This has long been a goal of the Republican Party & although they have introduced similar bills in the past, Washington has had little interest in the issue. However, due to the Republican dominance in Washington now, it is being introduced yet again. Their spin is that by splitting the current district into two, an additional U.S. Circuit court could be created— composed of Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Idaho and Alaska — to relieve what they say is an “oversized and overworked” 9th U.S. Circuit. However, per Barbara Atwood, a law professor at the University of Arizona, "The caseload per judge I'm not sure is higher than other districts. Usually the people who are advocates of (dividing the circuit) are really focused on THE NATURE OF THE DECISION-MAKING at the 9th Circuit." Arizona's Republican-controlled Legislature has long been frustrated by being kept in check by this court. This is the court that banned Arizona’s SB 1070 which created racial profiling, & its ballot harvesting law, which limited the number of ballots that could be collected and submitted to election officials. It is also the court the stopped Trump’s recent Muslim Ban. Regardless of what they say, what they want is to carve the above states out of a Circuit Court district they feel is too liberal, & put them in a new conservative district they will have more influence over. We cannot let this happen. Frankly, the 9th Circuit is the only thing that protects Arizonans from our state and federal governments, both of which continually try to impose extreme conservative beliefs on all of us.

  • Remove Donald Trump From Office
I am starting this petition because I am concerned for the welfare of this country and all its peoples, whether here as citizens or as guests. We have an acting president who has shown neither the capacity to lead nor the temperament to behave rationally. As a result, I believe we as Americans need to implore our members of Congress to remove and replace this person before he can do irreparable harm to our safety and livelihood.

  • Stop Weekend Trips to Mar a Lago
Between Trump Tower in NY and Mar a Lago in FL, businesses in both states are suffering, hurting our economy. I do not think the Secret Service should be stretched this far, as the President and his family are not the only reason the Secret Service exists. I do not think we, the taxpayers, should be paying all the overtime, overpayment, for weekend vacations, when Camp David is available and I believe the Federal Government, if they don’t limit this gluttony, should pay any businesses losing more than $20,000 a week in business who know they are losing per their proven financial history. Trump should not be taking money away from people, he should be putting it in their pockets, per his campaign promises.

  • Mass Human Chain Demonstration to Save Our Democracy
I've started a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/biggestdemoinworld/ to promote interest in organizing a mass human chain event. Some ideas that members of the Biggest Demonstration in World History have already come up with: *Not just one human chain but many human chains in cities, towns, neighborhoods, all occurring simultaneously *Larger human chains around symbolically important sites or around sanctuary cities *Hold the event on or near the Fourth of July The basic idea is for a "big tent" event that would unite protestors into one huge demonstration simultaneously occurring in multiple locations. Please share this petition with people or groups you think could get this event off the ground!

  • "People: Protect Peaceful Protest Now!"
It is our responsibility to protect our progeny from creeping authoritarianism. Republicans act in unity and in haste, where they agree on anti-social and anti-freedom legislation. We need to be vigilant in order to stay the erosion of democracy.

  • One Vote Per 500,000 would correct the injustice in the Electoral College and the House!
Trump is in the White House and Republicans control the House of Representatives because of an outdated law set in 1911. This petition would eliminate that law and provide fair representation for all. Democrats would own the White House and The House of Representatives if we had "1 vote per 500,000"

  • Why are we paying for weekends in Mar-A-Lago
The extra costs to support Pres Trump going to Florida every weekend are frivolous and wasteful, especially in light of so many facing cuts in critical services such as healthcare. It's fiscally irresponsible.

  • Support HB79 and SB47
I believe that we should make it easier to register to vote in Alabama. The more citizens engaged in the democratic process the stronger our democracy will be. Easing the process of registering to vote is not a conservative issue or a liberal issue it is something that only strengthens our democracy.

  • Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, we demand Sessions' resignation
As Americans we have the right to ask our elected officials to do the job for which they were elected. It is their responsibility to ensure the United States is held in utmost esteem and that all our elected officials abides by the constitution. This is not a Democrat or a Republican issue. This should be a united issue.

  • Demand Senator Todd Young Call for Sessions' Resignation
The Washington Post just revealed that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath at his confirmation hearing about his contacts with Russian officials during the presidential campaign, when he was a foreign policy advisor to Trump. He has committed perjury and must resign.

  • Demand Session's Resignation
This has been an administration and cabinet consistently caught in lying. We have to be able to believe that we will be treated fairly by the court system of all things. JEFF SESSIONS LIED AND WE CANNOT TRUST HIM.
