• Sessions must go; special prosecutor must be appointed now
The Washington Post just revealed that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath at his confirmation hearing about his own contact with Russian officials during the presidential campaign, when he was a foreign policy advisor to Trump. During his confirmation hearing, when asked by Senator Al Franken “if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?," Sessions replied, “Senator Franken, I am not aware of those activities … I didn’t have – did not have communication with the Russians.” The only way for Americans to be able to trust that our government can act with integrity -- to know that our top leaders aren't compromised by a foreign power, and to trust that the nation's top cop follows the law that he is duty-bound to enforce -- is for Attorney General Sessions to resign his post immediately and for his successor to appoint a special prosecutor to begin a comprehensive investigation of Donald Trump, his campaign, and his administration. Anything short of that is flatly unacceptable and puts our country's security, our free and fair elections, and our justice system at grave risk.

  • Enough is Enough! Independent Investigation on Russia NOW!
The American people deserve answers and now; not the partisan dusting under the rug that Trump’s congressional enablers want, but a true special independent investigation.

  • Trump: Stop Using Veterans and Military Families as Props
For those of us who have served in uniform, or belong to military families, there was nothing respectful about Trump's "tribute" to the widow of Senior Chief Owens. Instead, it was a loathsome and gut-wrenching moment - using a family's grief over a slain service member as a political ploy to shield himself from criticism, while refusing to take responsibility for his actions. During the 2016 campaign, myself and fellow veterans joined together to form Common Defense, an organization dedicated to fighting back against Trump's attacks on our most basic values. Now that he is in the White House, it is deeply troubling that Trump continues the pattern of using the military to push an agenda of hatred and division. We need to say loud and clear that we and our loved ones refuse to be pawns in Trump's game. Trump does not speak for the military community, and Trump knows nothing of the sacrifices we and our families have made. Trump's exploitation of Owens' death is just as unacceptable as his disrespect for the Gold Star Khan family during the 2016 campaign, and continues his long history of shameful insults to veterans, including POWs and Purple Heart recipients, as well as the countless Muslims, Immigrants, women, and people of color who served in uniform -- unlike Trump, who still only seems interested in serving himself. Of course the sacrifices of Gold Star families deserve to be honored, but Trump's speech was not a way of honoring Senior Chief Owens, it was taking advantage of a family's grief for his own political gain. This cannot be tolerated. Stand with us in condemning Trump's use of veterans and military families as political props.

  • Eliminate or modify state vehicle inspections?
What are your thoughts on this? Too many residents cannot afford to keep their older vehicles on the road when new car standards are applied to them. The U.S. Government Accountability Office, the research arm of Congress, issued a 2014 report saying it can find no definitive evidence that mandatory inspection programs reduce accidents, noting crash rates are about the same in states that have them as in those that do not.

  • TELL THE USGA + LPGA: DUMP TRUMP!
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is holding its most prestigious tournament--the 2017 U.S. Women's Open--at Donald Trump's New Jersey golf resort. Yep, a women's organization wants to give millions in revenue, free advertising and good branding to Donald Trump. It's straight up offensive. And even US senators agree--on October 26, three of them wrote to the head of the US Golf Association (USGA), who is in charge of venue decisions, urging him to refuse to affiliate the tournament with a racist serial sexual predator. Big companies like Uber and Nordstrom have already cut significant ties with Trump. If enough of us speak up and join the mounting pressure, the USGA + LPGA will be forced to move the tournament. Can you sign the petition?

  • Don't cut health care for kids!
As parents, we would do anything to keep our kids healthy and safe. But many of us won't be able to if Congress goes along with the health care cuts Donald Trump and Republican politicians are proposing. Repealing the Affordable Care Act could strip health coverage from 13 million children, according to a new report. Turning Medicaid--which pays for health care for almost 40% of kids--into "block grants" would harm millions more. Preventive care is so important for kids. Kids who don't get care they need for conditions like asthma can fall behind in school or worse. And a serious illness can easily bankrupt a family. No member of congress wants to be known as "The Guy who Took Healthcare from Kids." So if we make enough of a fuss, we can stop this. Please share this petition widely!

  • @Bolivia_ONU, @RussiaUN: Demand @UN Security Council Save Yemeni Children From Starvation
"Hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children languishing in refugee camps and remote villages are nearing starvation," the Washington Post reports. Airstrikes near the port of Hodeida - main entry point for food, medicine and humanitarian aid into northern Yemen - have slowed the delivery of supplies. Half a million children are severely acutely malnourished. The UN says Yemen is “on the brink of famine.” U.S.-backed Saudi airstrikes have destroyed roads and bridges across Hodeida province. Unexploded rockets have landed inside the port, further reducing imports and the number of ships willing to come to Yemen. The Saudis are enforcing a blockade that is restricting food imports, and have told humanitarian agencies to redirect shipments to Aden. That would mean vital food and medicine would need to be trucked from Aden through war zones to reach the millions at risk of starvation in the north. [1] To save hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children from starvation, someone must stop the U.S.-backed Saudi attacks on Hodeida. Sadly, so far Washington has turned a deaf ear to the cries of Yemeni children. But any member of the UN Security Council can demand a meeting to discuss action to save Yemeni children from starvation. Of the fifteen current members of the Security Council, [2] Bolivia and Russia are the most independent of the U.S.-Saudi alliance that is pushing Yemen into famine. A vigorous Security Council debate would put pressure on the U.S. to stop supporting the Saudi assault on Hodeida. Urge Bolivia and Russia to demand action by the UN Security Council to save hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children from starvation by signing our petition. • Transparent schedules for members of Congress
In the past year, I have tried to engage with all three of my US Congressmen and have in all three cases been told blatant lies by their staff - that by signing up for their newsletter, I will get an e-mail notification of any public events they hold. This never, never happens. The only event postings I have seen are created by constituents to organize groups to attend town halls, and after-the-fact pictures on their FB feeds. They and their staff are colluding to make it needlessly difficult for the public to engage with them, and this needs to stop. It is undemocratic, un-American, and serves neither the interests of their supporters or their opponents.

  • Democrats: Boycott Trump’s First Address to Congress
I am frightened at the prospect that more Americans will suffer under a deliberate effort of the Trump administration to denigrate immigrants, perpetuate greater economic inequities, severe our ties to our allies and the global economy. I fear the platform that Mr. Trump has given to White Supremacists and others who fail to respect and appreciate our differences.

  • Do Your Job, Jason Chaffetz
The Yemen raid was approved by Trump without adequate planning or investigation, and according to military sources was a complete disaster as a result. The Miami Herald reported today of the anguish caused the father of Ryan Owens as a result of his death, and his request for an investigation. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article135064074.html It would be hypocrisy of the first order for Rep. Chaffetz not to investigate how this happened with the same zeal that he investigated Clinton after learning she planned to run for president.
