• Kentucky Senate race 60% Super Majority
He is unfairly using the senate rules to impose minority rule. If he want's to impose super majority rules on the country he should want a super majority for his own personal race.

  • 51 votes is a majority
Any matter in the Senate should require only 51 votes to carry it, since that constitutes a majority. The Republicans have demanded 60 votes for far too long.

  • Voter Responsibility
Many of us are frustrated at the lack of caring of so many officials who are merely interested in the next election and their political party succeeding or working for narrow interests of the monied electorate.

  • Repeal the AUMF--Endless War
For both fiscal and ethical reasons, it is time Congress cancelled AUMF and reclaimed oversight of US military engagements. We should return to the Constitutional policy of allowing military action only when a formal Declaration of War is passed by Congress. Article 1, section 6 of the Constitution grants the right "to declare war" to Congress. Please see the article at http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/may/05/authorization-use-military-force-blank-check for more information.

  • Inform your constituents
Hawaii senators and representatives have their office staff tell callers that they don't know how their bosses are going to vote or what their thinking is on an issue. They've been doing this for years. You can leave any comment you want, but you can't find out how they intend to vote. So you can't put pressure on them or criticize them until it's too late. All reps should post their positions/intentions on their web sites and make it available via email.

  • Tell Gabriel Gomez to sign the people's pledge!
Big donors are going to be putting a lot more money in our elections, and that means they’re going to have a lot more chits to call in once one of those candidates is elected. Gabriel Gomez will not sign the people's pledge which calls for not using highly funded corporate super PAC sponsors to pour large donations to flood our televisions and radio stations which negative extremely biased political ads. Ed Markey running for senate in Massachusetts had signed the people's pledge. The people’s pledge significantly reduces outside money, it significantly reduces outside advertising, it limits dark or secret money in our elections and it boosted the role of small donors. Elizabeth Warren counted on her grassroot supporters. And the playing field should be even fair and square!

  • GIVE DISABLED WORKERS A RIGHT TO JURY TRIAL WHEN CLAIMS DENIED
I am a disabled R.N. I paid for disability insurance for years to my employer VITAS HEALTHCARE, INC. , a hospice nursing agency. These employer funded ERISA policies are fraudulently presented to employees in that they almost NEVER pay claims for more than 2 years and not until age 65 as implied. Congress has allowed insurance companies to prevent workers from getting full compensation for disability and a trial by jury for denied claims.

  • Rational Cannabis Reform For Economic Reconstruction
Politicians should emulate the more rational laws of states such as Colorado and Washington concerning cannabis. This would help the economy in many ways, most certainly in job creation, but in many other ways as well.

  • Make them filibuster
Republicans have blocked numerous progressive bills by merely threatening to filibuster. The American public is being held hostage by a conservative minority. Democrats should call their bluff and force them to actually filibuster. If they had to actually filibuster every bill they want to block this tactic would quickly become ineffective, as well as creating a significant negative reaction among the American people.

  • Save public employee pensions
Governor Corbett aided by Representative Chris Ross (R-Chester County) have decide to create a false emergency in which they want to move current PA employees from a safe pension system to a risky 401k retirement plan that will cost taxpayers more money than the current pension plan. Many other states have tried this and decided to return to a pension system because it was too costly to the taxpayers. I have been a teacher for 18 years and have paid 7.5 % of my salary into my pension. If this bill is passed public employees could lose as much as $17,000 a year when they retire. Meanwhile PA lawmakers can retire with almost full pensions, some as much as $69,000 per year up to $89,000 per year. PA lawmakers also recently voted to increase their pensions by $6,000 a year per member. Please support me and other public employees in telling the governor this plan is too costly, risky, morally unethical, and unlawful according to the PA constitution. In my many emails, phone calls, and letters to Chris Ross he assured me changing the pension was unlawful according to PA's constitution. Now he is cosponsoring a bill that actually does this
