We've all been personally affected by this issue. VERY few of our elected officials show genuine concern for our Country as a whole or the needs and concerns of its citizens while in office.

The current campaign system has allowed for the systemic corruption of the greatest democracy in history. Our elected officials have decided that this is no longer a government of the people. Rather, they are beholden to any entity with a large enough bank account to ensure reelection. There is a simple solution to this problem. We can allow our leaders to once again perform the work that is the will of people by creating a campaign finance system that is 100% publicly financed. No more private donations, no wasted time on fundraisers, no super PAC's. We should fund the presidential campaign at the federal level and allow the states to create a funding mechanism for congressional campaigns. Why would this work? The power of the lobbyist in our current system is money. If those lobbyists could no longer promise campaign contributions in exchange for legislation which favors the issue they are lobbying for or against, that power vanishes.

There should be term limits for Congress, House and Senate.

He is unfairly using the senate rules to impose minority rule. If he want's to impose super majority rules on the country he should want a super majority for his own personal race.

Any matter in the Senate should require only 51 votes to carry it, since that constitutes a majority. The Republicans have demanded 60 votes for far too long.

Many of us are frustrated at the lack of caring of so many officials who are merely interested in the next election and their political party succeeding or working for narrow interests of the monied electorate.

For both fiscal and ethical reasons, it is time Congress cancelled AUMF and reclaimed oversight of US military engagements. We should return to the Constitutional policy of allowing military action only when a formal Declaration of War is passed by Congress. Article 1, section 6 of the Constitution grants the right "to declare war" to Congress.
