  • Illinois Lawmakers: Support Online Voter Registration!
We're incredibly close to passing online voter registration in Illinois, but we need to make our voices heard before lawmakers in Springfield adjourn for the year! A bill that would bring online voter registration to Illinois has already cleared a major hurdle in the state Senate, but it still needs to pass the full House and Senate before the end of the week, and a vote could be as early as today. Sign the petition TODAY so that Illinois can create a more innovative, open, and accessible democracy. Once you've signed, take a second to CALL your lawmakers to tell them to support Illinois online voter registration! Petitions are great, but phone calls will make a huge difference as the vote nears. Find their phone numbers here: https://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/6121/c/10054/getLocal.jsp.

  • We the People Demand both Houses of Congress take pay cuts of 25%
Congress should have to suffer just like the population that they are "supposed" to represent. We should demand they take 25% pay cuts, slash their pensions, and limit their medical.... Also, demand that once they retire, there is no double dipping i.e. becoming a Lobbyist and making millions.

  • Wounded Knee
The federal government, at the initiative of the President should buy, expropriate, or acquire by any means the site of the massacre at Wounded Knee and turn it into a monument. The United States has since its inception carried out a racist Holocaust against Native Americans, broken the treaties it made, confiscated land, destroyed a culture, and herded free and ancient peoples into concentration camps called reservations where they reside to this day. These crimes against humanity are a record of shame that stains the flag and identity of the United States. Not to honor this site and create a memorial would be yet another stain. See http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/12/opinion/save-wounded-knee.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20130412&_r=0.

  • Filibuster Cure
The single purpose of filibustering is to delay voting about issues before the Congress. By talking about irrelevant issues or parts of a bill that are not the main bill(ie,filibustering), important votes are delayed, sometimes indefinitely.Limiting each bill to one issue and discussing only the single issue up for vote will be more efficient and the public will see exactly how each member of Congress votes on the single issue without excuse.

  • The GI Bill belongs to the military, not the Veteran's Affairs
Every military member who spends more than 90 days on active duty gets a GI BILL whether it be the Montgomery or Post 9-11. If we fail a class or drop it, we have to pay that money back, but that money is ours. We fought for this country and earned it. I've personally experienced this. We need to fight more for our military who are the ones fighting for this country.

  • Send drug and alcohol offenders to rehab not prison
It costs the state about 35 thousand dollars a year to send a person to prison. Drug and alcohol offenders need help which only a rehab clinic can provide. Prison doesn't work for these people that is why there are so many that end up going back over and over. It is time to try something new. Rehab can do a better job at a fraction of the cost to no cost to the state or the tax payers. Our tax money could go to better use!

  • Cleaning House
We need fresh blood in the house. The House and senate are doing no one any good. They keep getting raises for them selves. They should not get bonuses, we cant. Why should they When they leave office they should have to pay for everything like the rest of us and no freebees. Try living on 40.000 or less. Why take from seniors SS. We can just about live now.

  • Demand Fair Elections for New York
For too long corporations and lobbyists have controlled politicians through their campaign donations — leaving ordinary New Yorkers like us locked out of our democracy. We can end that with Fair Elections. By empowering small donors, lowering campaign contribution limits, ending lobbyists’ pay-to-play schemes, and encouraging stronger enforcement and transparency, Fair Elections will transform how Albany does business. And as we've seen over the past couple weeks, there is a culture of corruption in New York politics that can only be stopped with a complete overhaul of the system. Join me in demanding Fair Elections and tell the state Legislature to take action now.
