It costs the state about 35 thousand dollars a year to send a person to prison. Drug and alcohol offenders need help which only a rehab clinic can provide. Prison doesn't work for these people that is why there are so many that end up going back over and over. It is time to try something new. Rehab can do a better job at a fraction of the cost to no cost to the state or the tax payers.Our tax money could go to better use!

We need fresh blood in the house. The House and senate are doing no one any good. They keep getting raises for them selves. They should not get bonuses, we cant. Why should they When they leave office they should have to pay for everything like the rest of us and no freebees. Try living on 40.000 or less. Why take from seniors SS. We can just about live now.

For too long corporations and lobbyists have controlled politicians through their campaign donations — leaving ordinary New Yorkers like us locked out of our democracy. We can end that with Fair Elections. By empowering small donors, lowering campaign contribution limits, ending lobbyists’ pay-to-play schemes, and encouraging stronger enforcement and transparency, Fair Elections will transform how Albany does business. And as we've seen over the past couple weeks, there is a culture of corruption in New York politics that can only be stopped with a complete overhaul of the system. I ask one simple question. Can there be true democracy without equality of opportunity? I do not believe so and yet it is clear that there is not such equality in our so called democratic societies. This petition is one step in trying to change that situation

Thousands are losing their jobs or getting furloughed because of the cruel sequestration that congress voted in. The sequestration is the result of congress's inability to work together and agree on a budget. Congress is turning a blink eye to all the pain that sequestration is causing.

Governor Mark Dayton of Minnesota has been quoted as saying "I was not aware" over many recent issues cropping up in Minnesota. For example, the stadium being built using tax payer money, will now, most likely, require general fund dollars, taking money from schools and other important programs.

Congress has been failing to work with results in mind, and each party is blaming the other, focusing on mud slinging and party positioning instead of leadership for the good of all. When Congress fails to do their job and defaults to something like a sequester why should others pay the consequence while they remain immune to that which they themselves caused?

I'm concerned that instead of the "Citizen" representatives that our founders' intended ,Congress is full of "Professional"non-caring self-centered individuals who are controlled by lobbyists and devote their time to re-election instead of the 'People's business".

We encourage the Mayor and Town Council Members of Cary, NC to join with the 14 other North Carolina municipalities who have already moved to defend democracy by calling for a stop to anonymous or unlimited political donations and supporting a U.S. Constitutional amendment establishing that: (1) Only human beings are people endowed with constitutional rights, not corporations or any other type of organization. (2) Money is NOT speech and regulating political spending is necessary to preserve equitable and transparent democracy.

We are reminded by news reporters, politicians, and political strategists that Congress is dysfunctional. This is a problem that affects every American and the very existence of the United States of America.

It's easy for Congress to impose the sequester on the American people. To dictate AUSTERITY in our lives and negatively affect our destiny. Especially because every single Congressmen/women are fully aware that this same AUSTERITY they are imposing on the American people, will never reach their own kitchen tables or affect their own sons and daughters.
