  • A First Step in Overcoming Citizens United
On 6-25-12, the Supreme Court reaffirmed Citizens United when it overturned Montana's 100-year old state law limiting corporate spending in elections. Ultimately the only way to reverse the now permissible giving of unlimited and undisclosed campaign contributions is by amending the Constitution. And to get complete disclosure of where the money is coming from would take an act of Congress. Both of these remedies will take a long time and success is not assured. The purpose of this petition is to ask the Securities and Exchange Commission to promulgate rules on an expedited basis that would require publicly traded companies to disclose all political contributions of $2000 or more to any candidate, campaign fund, political party or super PAC in any given calendar year. Any contributions falling under this rule would need to be reported in a monthly SEC filing and all such contributions would need to be set forth in the annual report to shareholders, in a section of the report that immediate follows disclosure of executive compensation. Shareholders when investing in a company have a right to know how much revenue is being devoted to political contributions (now that there is no limit) and precisely who and what are the beneficiaries of the corporation's generosity. This type of disclosure is similar to the existing disclosure rules on executive salary, bonuses and benefits as investors have a right to know how much money is being spent in an area where there is much discretion.

  • Restore Democracy In America
Corporations and our Courts have stolen our most precious right, our right to vote in a free and fair election. Currently, what determines "elect ability" is the amount of money in any two candidates bank accounts. Equal time is rarely provided to lesser funded candidates and, getting the big-money candidates to debate the lesser funded candidate(s), prior to the primary election has become impossible. In some states, only the top two move on thus eliminating the potential rise of any legitimate third party.

  • Stop Congressional Gridlock
This petition speaks to the issue of particianship and the lack of moral and honest legislation based on needs of the people, not along party lines for political gain. It is based on the integrity of individual thinking rather than a two party system. It would be beneficial to see issues through the eyes of many instead of the integrity of two parties, both not interested in personal levels of committment, but the power each party desires. Changing the voting procedure to popular vote instead of the current two party dominance. Let congress members vote by conscience not along party lines.

  • Term Limits for Congress
Congress is completely broken, overly partisan and basically doing nothing to help Americans because they are too focused on re-election. I propose term limits of 2 terms for House of Representatives and 1 term for Senators. In order to get Congress behind this law, those currently serving can be grandfathered out of the term limits requirement, but anyone new must adhere to term limits!

  • Amendment to Amendments
The Supreme Court's power needs to be checked. Amend the constitution such that: When a constitutional amendment is passed in order to overturn a Supreme Court ruling, the Chief Justice shall me demoted to a junior member of the court and the President shall choose a new Chief Justice.

  • Open the debates
Democracy means nothing if people are not allowed to hear all the voices in a debate. Third party candidates should be allowed to participate in presidential debates, especially if they have qualified to be elected president.

  • Save the USPO
The US Post Office is under attack. The USPO is under the control of Congress. In 2006 they burden the USPO to pay for 75 years of future retirement benefits. No business has such a burden. This added several billions dollars annually to the deficit now facing the USPO. We must repeal this burden and also to allow the USPO to expand to sell more than stamps,
