My husband has been an educator for 25+ years and the safety of his students, colleagues, etc. should be a TOP priority.

Let's ask Brad to give the NRA contribution back to the NRA. We have to stop murdering our children and STOP PROTECTING THE NRA.

It's obvious why I'm starting this petition... assault weapons have no place in regular society. I'm tired of fearing for my children's lives when they go off to elementary and middle school each day!! How sickening is it that this is a REAL WORRY that we have to face in the United States ?!?!?! What has happened to this country? Where is the common sense?

The National Rifle Association contributes large amounts of money to many members of Congress, including House Representative, Elise Stefanik. Rep. Stefanik has received $7,179 in support from the NRA. The NRA's financial hold on our Congress is undeniable. In the wake of national tragedies, our representatives hollowly extend thoughts and prayers to victims while accepting money from the NRA to ensure that nothing more is done to prevent future tragedies. Rep. Stefaniks position on gun control is tainted by the funds she has accepted from the NRA. This bribery of our representatives undermines democracy and must come to an end.

John Moolenaar has accepted $10,554 in contribution from the NRA and its associates. He needs to give that money to the victims of gun violence or another charity. The NRA cannot continue to hamstring Congress by "paying them off." We need common sense firearms regulations that will help limit gun ownership to responsible citizens and prevent their acquisition by non-citizens, felons, and people convicted of violent crimes. We also need an assault weapons ban NOW so that the AR-15 (used in every mass shooting in recent years) isn't widely available to anybody who wants to create mass harm. I have four kids in public schools. When I see video of kids cowering under desks, screaming and begging for their lives, I see my kids. Those are children, and there are parents who sent their kids off yesterday only to have them not come home. Children deserve to be able to study in peace, and not go to school in fear that somebody might start shooting. We have got to pass common-sense gun reform, and we have to do it NOW. Stop taking donations from the NRA and start listening to your constituents, many of whom are responsible gun owners who support these measures.

Every week we see a tragedy resulting from our outdated gun laws. With our representatives pocketing gun industry donations instead of legislating in our interests, the trend is doomed to continue. We need to get special interest money out of our politics.

In light of the recent Florida mass shooting, demand Rep. Susan Brooks give back or donate the $2,326 she has received from the gun lobby.

Our country has suffered for to many years with the threat of mass shootings daily, and our citizens deserve a government that will do something to curb the scourge of gun violence.

Our legislators must take responsible action against the proliferation of guns, specifically AR-15 style assault weapons. It is time for them to put an end to, and to reject, financial support from the NRA.

There have been too many children and adults killed by guns.

I don't want my future children to have to fear for their lives one day in the place they should be going to learn. The main way to fix this is to stop the influence of the gun lobby on our politicians, so they can represent OUR issues! I hope Rep. Shuster makes the right decision!
