• Making Our School Safe
After hearing about the tragedy in Florida, it has come to my attention that there is not enough being done to protect me and my fellow classmates and teachers against a similar tragedy. Not enough is being done to make sure the students of CMHS are coming home safely. It is time someone takes a stand and does something about it. I will be speaking on behalf of the student body on March 1st at the school board meeting. If you cannot attend or even if you can but would still like to be heard, please help me by signing this petition. I'd rather have our names be read on this petition than coming across the screen of a news broadcast after tragedy strikes.

  • Refuse NRA money
Legislators are targeted by the NRA for even the slightest movement on doing anything to stem the killing in America. We call on all legislators, candidates, parties, and Political Action Committees to refuse any contribution by the NRA and the gun lobby. If all would do so there could be movement on ending the slaughter.

  • Label the NRA as a terrorist organization.
The unabated flow of NRA blood-money into our politicians' hands has led them to hold the interests of the NRA above the public interest. Their inaction at NRA's behest has led directly to countless gun deaths in our country with increasing frequency and deadliness. Viewing the NRA as a benevolent actor in our political system is no longer an option. Political inaction is no longer an option. This willful inaction is a gross violation of the Oath of Office which each politician has taken. With credible reports now linking NRA to Russian money-laundering, we can no longer be certain of the allegiances of this organization nor afford to allow our politicians' allegiances to be bought by these unknown sources of influence.

  • Gov. Charlie Baker: Dump the NRA from our state government!
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker appointed local NRA leader Ronald Amidon as Commissioner of the Department of Fish & Game in July 2017. Amidon was president of the Gun Owners' Action League (GOAL), the NRA's state affiliate in Massachusetts. Fish & Game is now directing visitors on the state website to GOAL for more information on gun ownership. GOAL advocates for the repeal of our state's gun safety laws. The NRA's positions on gun safety DO NOT reflect the values of Massachusetts residents. DUMP THE NRA!

It was heart-wrenching to watch that video during this last mass shooting. Some politicians have already put into the dialog, "Now is not the time"; the same language we have heard after every mass shooting. "Enough is Enough", the time is now.

  • Rep Mike Rogers: end NRA's chokehold on Congress
We have to stop our elected officials from taking money from the NRA! We need them to work for us, "The People", not for the powerful gun lobbyists. #REJECTTHENRA The National Rifle Association has a financial chokehold on much of Congress. It’s one of the main reasons why, in the wake of mass shootings such as the ones in Parkland, FL, Sutherland Springs, TX, Las Vegas, Orlando, San Bernardino, and Sandy Hook, we remain unable to pass commonsense gun laws. In the wake of the Las Vegas tragedy, two representatives–Representatives Tim Ryan (Ohio) and Tim Walz (Minnesota)–have donated previous NRA contributions to gun violence protection groups. Now, MoveOn members across the country are petitioning their fellow lawmakers to join them.
