Ted Poe: represent people, not the NRAEvery week we see a tragedy resulting from our outdated gun laws. With our representatives pocketing gun industry donations instead of legislating in our interests, the trend is doomed to continue. We need to get special interest money out of our politics.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gregg Riley

Rep. Bill Shuster: The NRA Buck Stops HereI don't want my future children to have to fear for their lives one day in the place they should be going to learn. The main way to fix this is to stop the influence of the gun lobby on our politicians, so they can represent OUR issues! I hope Rep. Shuster makes the right decision!48 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jessica Krugger

The Movement For Violence Free SchoolsIn January 1989, a man named Patrick Purdy, who was in the lingo of social work, a throwaway kid, opened fire on the school yard at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California. When I heard this horrific news, I remember thinking, the shooter probably attended that school as a child. I was horrified to learn I was correct. We have to stop this epidemic of school-based violence. We can start with better mental health services for children and adolescents. We can continue by limiting access to guns and munitions. And we can make safe schools a priority and appropriate mental health services a right to necessary medical care regardless of social status or income.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daphne Macklin

US Ban on Assault WeaponsThe recent shooting in nearby Broward County, Florida is just another example of why assault weapons do not belong in public hands. Rapid-fire weapons do not belong in civilian hands. The founders did not have them, and the right to bear arms is not threatened by banning assault and rapid-fire weapons. We should not allow these weapons to be accessible to the public and the time has come to put an end to this ludicrous "freedom" that reduces the freedoms of the innocent in this country. Stand up for a safer USA—one without easy access to weapons of mass casualty.4,234 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Varesha Mauney
