  • Victoria Roberts: More School Security
I am starting this petition for the sake of student safety. School security is okay. It is not good at all. Security needs to be improved on many levels. More money needs to be provided so that security can be upped in any way possible.

  • Gun Control & Assault Weapons Ban
All elections are decided by the moderate 1/3 of the population. However, by definition, moderates are not idealogues. We tend to vote for candidates based upon multiple issues. That is why we rarely get what we want. We are divided and conquered. It's time to take a play out of the right wing conservative playbook. Their supporters tend to focus on a few issues, such as gun rights and right to life. How else could a pedophile come so close to becoming the US senator from Alalbama. Simple- he was pro life. We need to take the same one issue stance if we want to end the madness. Enough is enough. Pledge to support and vote for only candidates who are pro gun control and pro assault weapons ban. Pledge to go out and vote against any candidate who is not, regardless of the office they are running for. Regardless of the importance of the office. Whether it be on a national, state, or local level. Ignore ads that attack pro Gun Control or pro Assault Weapons Ban candidates. The ads are probably funded by the NRA directly or indirectly anyway. Become a one issue voter. Bring politics back to the center where it belongs. The other issues will follow as the united strength of the center grows. Take away the political firepower of the NRA and gun manufacturers, lest we leave future generations wondering, "What the hell where they thinking of?!" It worked in Australia. It will work here.

  • Lock them Up
Machines designed to kill people are readily available in many places. Our gun safety laws are not protecting us. We need to lock up assault weapons in an armory and restrict their use.

  • Safeguard Our Future
Besides focusing on changing gun laws, we need to focus on Safety. We need to have School Safety Guards and metal detectors. We need our schools to be a safe place for our children and staff to be able to learn, teach, and grow across America. No one should be worried about going to school because someone may shoot up the place. In the process, it will also create jobs. As for myself, I am a parent but also I am one of many who help keep NY schools safe. Please sign and together we can get things done.

  • The Promise
Over 90% of Americans believe that there needs to be some legislation taken to reduce the number of mass shootings in this country. Yet nothing happens because of the strong hold the NRA has on our politicians. Let's stop the madness and start protecting our innocent children who so often are the targets of these military-style guns. Please take this promise with me: "I promise I will never vote for anyone who is taking contributions from the NRA." It's that simple. This is not a partisan issue. Unfortunately, Conservatives, Republicans, Independents, Democrats, and Liberals all take donations from the NRA and therefore refuse to represent the will of the people when it comes to common-sense gun laws. The 2nd Amendment is secure but the NRA uses it to promote fear for profit. It is in our power to send a message to Washington and cut the strings the NRA has on our government. Please sign, make an abiding promise and let's save lives.

  • Change The 2nd Amendment
Gun crime is out of control and the only way to get ahead of this is to change the 2nd Amendment. As it now stands, it is unconstitutional to require background checks and to demand mental health as a requirement to own a gun.

  • Metal detectors are needed for the safety of our children and staff members.
There have been several incidents this school year where students have brought deadly weapons into the middle and high schools in Hampton County. Even though those students were disciplined, we as parents believe that law enforcement can assist in tightening up on security to prevent weapons from entering the schools. We are asking that the Hampton School District One install walk-through metal detectors at the student entries as added security to help protect our children and staff members from senseless harm.
