As a low-income American, veteran, and college student, I depend on Medicaid for my healthcare needs. I have met and know many other low-income Americans who rely on Medicaid and similar programs. Ending payments to insurers who provide care for low-income Americans is a terrible slap in the face of the American public, as most of us are low-to-moderate income and depend on these services.

I am a doctor who understands that Congress is getting a better deal than everybody else, and that has made them not our representatives. They need to personally understand what it means to have difficulty getting the insurance they want to buy.

It's time for Democrats to create healthcare legislation that benefits all Americans and improves upon both Medicare and the Affordable Care Act. Moderate Democrats have long said that Obamacare should be improved, not repealed. The American public increasingly supports the Progressive position that healthcare is a right and Americans need a healthcare plan that provides universal coverage. It's time for Democrats to lead. It's time for universal coverage. And it's time for the Democratic party to get it's act together. Our success requires that Democrats put aside their differences and unify around our common goals.

Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act have not been in good faith. The CBO scores for each bill are dismal and would result in significant losses of insurance, increased costs in premiums and deductibles, and the removal of certain insurance coverages. Senator Dan Sullivan voted in step with his party, clearly putting party over the right thing to do. Following Sen. Lisa Murkowski's "no" vote on attempt 2, Pres. Trump allegedly directed Interior Secretary Zinke to call both Sullivan and Murkowski to threaten Alaskan interests if their vote on the "skinny" repeal was not a "no". This is coercion, and is being investigated.

To hold Rep. Bacon for his healthcare votes that would have left 165,000 Nebraskans without coverage and 786,000 Nebraskans with pre-existing conditions would deny life-saving coverage.

I'm starting this petition because I want Senator Toomey to understand how his constituents feel about his vote in favor of the "skinny" TrumpCare bill to weaken Medicare and strip millions of vulnerable citizens of their healthcare coverage. And I want to encourage him to focus on the needs of his constituents rather than on Trump's need for a legislative victory -- no matter who gets hurt. Obamacare isn't perfect, but it can be perfected. And that's what our Senator should be about.

Sen. Ben Sasse and Sen. Deb Fischer continue to vote for healthcare bills that will greatly harm their constituents. We know the Republican Congress will take another run at stripping our healthcare. We want Sen. Sasse and Sen. Fischer to know we will never stop fighting for our lives and our healthcare. We will hold them accountable for their votes.

The intent of this petition is to remind Senators Risch and Crapo they represent not a party, not an ideology, not the wealthy, and not Trump. They represent the people of Idaho, the majority of whom opposed the bills they voted for that would have taken health care away from millions of people and wrecked protections for preexisting conditions.

Millions of lives and 1/6 of the American economy are dependent on healthcare. This issue should not be about political games. Everyone deserves the best chance at living a healthy life.

Senators Hatch and Lee voted for health care bills that if enacted would cause between 16 and 32 million Americans to lose health insurance coverage. According to the LA Times that will result in the deaths of 28,000 to 100,000 people per year. My Granddaughters would be covered by the Medicaid expansion if Utah had accepted it. We need elected representatives that are not callous.

Every member of my immediate family and most of my extended family as well as millions of others will be adversely affected if the health care repeal bill Senator Sullivan voted for were to become law. If Senator Sullivan really wants to improve the Affordable Care Act then he should stop blindly following the Republican leadership and help develop a realistic approach to improving health care that is feasible and benefits those who elected him.
