• With Bernie, Ro, Warren: Nix Trump NDAA That Doesn't #SaveYemen
The Senate is poised to fail on the best opportunity of the year to end unconstitutional U.S. participation in the genocidal Saudi war in Yemen, by passing a Pentagon funding bill that doesn't end the war. Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna and Elizabeth Warren are OPPOSED. https://twitter.com/justfp/status/1206375503248019461 Urge the Senate to vote NO on the Trump NDAA that doesn't end the Yemen war.

  • Nikki's Wolf Pack Rescue
My dogs are my children, they are my ohana, and they mean the whole world to me. We have formed an unbreakable bond and the pack has not been the same since we were all separated. The Kona Humane Society broke the law, lied to police, and lied to me about my dogs whereabouts. They intentionally tried to keep my dogs from me, despite them being registered as emotional support animals that I have had for the last 13 years of my life. Every day gets harder to live without Keebler, Ayda, and Remedy and we all need to be reunited as soon as possible! Please sign my petition and share it with your friends. • Mitch McConnell must recuse himself from Senate Impeachment Trial
For the leader of the Senate to openly and arrogantly claim that he, as a juror, has no problem collaborating directly with a defendant's counsel is not only an abuse of power in itself, it completely violates his own oath of office to defend the separation of powers as defined in the articles of the Constitution of the United States. Congress has its own independent authority. It does not work for the White House, nor does it belong to any particular political party. Supporting this notion is exactly the reason why three separate branches of government were established by our Founding Fathers and why they must maintain oversight of one another. If the White House can simply refuse oversight and obstruct Congress, while those within Congress openly allow this simply due to party loyalty, then We, as a republic, are doomed to become that from which our nation's founders fought to liberate us. If our congressional leaders refuse to defend the Constitution, then We, the American People, regardless of our political affiliations, must do so ourselves. You can watch Sen. McConnell speak about his planned total coordination with the White House counsel in his own words here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbsLMNLo9Kc

  • Tell Congress: Release the CIA Torture Report
After 9/11, the CIA detained and tortured — including beating, chaining to the ceiling, locking in coffins, and waterboarding detainees to the brink of death — over 100 Muslim men in “black site” prisons around the world. That period is a stain on human history. While Congress authorized a full investigation, the resulting full, unredacted 7,000-page CIA Torture Report has yet to be released to the public. Until we know the truth, there is no way to achieve full justice for survivors and victims of CIA torture and detention. Worse, there is also no way to make sure it will never happen again. Will you urge your members of Congress to release the unredacted CIA Torture Report to the public now?

  • Donald Trump Jr. shouldn't get a pass for killing protected species
Donald Trump Jr. recently went to Mongolia with taxpayer-funded support after purchasing a hunting trip at a charity auction to benefit the National Rifle Association (NRA). While in Mongolia, Trump Jr. shot and killed an argali sheep that is listed and protected as "Threatened" in Mongolia under the Endangered Species Act. Trump Jr. did not reportedly have a permit to kill the imperiled argali sheep at the time of his hunt, and was granted one retroactively after he had left the country. The argali sheep is threatened by agriculture and energy production and is listed as "Decreasing" globally by the IUCN Red List. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service considers whether local, national, and multi-national laws and regulations are followed and whether the killing of animals is beneficial to conservation as a part of the importation process. As Mr. Trump only received permit for his trophy hunting after he had killed the imperiled species and was likely only able to do so because of his father's position, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service should investigate to determine if it should reject any forthcoming import request from Mr. Trump and ascertain whether he has already imported the carcass in violation of U.S. law. • Speaker Pelosi: Please Start A Discharge Petition For H.R. 4363, For A Vote
Americans living overseas are subject to a separate and substantially more punitive tax code than stateside Americans. This is grossly unfair. Furthermore, the United States government has demonstrated little to no concern about the well-being of its overseas diaspora. As a result, many false narratives from many sources have surfaced that mischaracterize the real situation on the ground. H.R. 4363 should layout what is really going on and set the record straight. It is vitally important Congress act on this legislation to safeguard the lives of millions of Americans abroad from financial ruin.

  • Food Justice for CSU
We need to focus on providing more accessible food relief for Colorado State University students experiencing food insecurity. According to a CSU survey conducted in the Fall of 2013, approximately 10% of students at Colorado State University experience food insecurity. According to a 2019 petition by social work students, 3 out of 10 students face food insecurity at CSU. Rams take care of Rams. Our community is committed to solving food insecurity. This year's Giving Tuesday, Colorado State University raised more than $100,000 for Rams Against Hunger, providing 13,352 meals for students. Our ASCSU administration is also committed to solving this crisis. We have pocket pantries that provide free food across campus. We have the mobile food pantry that comes to campus once a month for two hours where students can get up to 20 pounds of food. But the average person consumes an estimated 4 pounds of food a day. This is not enough. At this rate, students who are relying solely on the mobile food pantry do not have enough food to last a week, let alone a month. It takes more than an hour for a student to travel from the CSU campus to the Larimer County Food Bank using the city bus system. Oftentimes, students do not have the during the weekday to take an over two-hour journey for free healthy food. RamRide only runs in the late evenings Thursday-Saturday when the food bank is closed. RamRide does not have enough funding or volunteers to extend its hours so that they may bring students to the food bank. Our students without a car also struggle with carrying the weight of groceries long distances. Imagine having to carry over 20 pounds of food while walking back to your home, riding your bike, or taking the city busses. Our students need better transportation for food. Our commitment to solving this problem can continue. We need to call on the University to extend their support of our food-insecure students by funding RamRide so that everyone has increased access to healthy food. We must further show that Rams do take care of Rams.

  • Bring my father home & keep our family together
Please grant my father’s application for a pardon to protect him from the reach of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and help him stay in the U.S. with us, his family. My father was brought to the U.S. lawfully as a child by my grandmother, who wanted a better life for her family. In 1997, when I was three, my father went to prison. He was just 19 when he shot and tragically took the life of another young man. In 2011, while my father was in prison, my brother (my father’s youngest son) was killed in an act of violence, deepening my father’s understanding of the traumatic impact he had on his victim’s family and gun violence has on our community, more generally. My father spent 25 years in prison atoning for the harm he caused (http://www.voicesfromwithin.org/tyrone-abraham.html). After much soul searching, he turned his life around and committed to bettering himself (he earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees) and helping others. He helped at-risk youth understand the impact of gun violence and develop strategies for non-violent conflict resolution. He educated his peers about HIV/AIDS and making healthy lifestyle decisions. He led his prison’s United Asian American Organization as President when no one else stepped up to ensure its representation. For all his work, my father earned the respect of peers, advocates, clergy members, academics, correctional officials, legislators, and, earlier this year, the state parole board, which granted him parole. However, my father was not freed on his release date, he was transferred to ICE custody and set for deportation to a country he has not seen since he was just 11 years old and where he has no family left. Time is running out; my father’s deportation is imminent as he sits in an ICE detention center. My father served his time, every day of his sentence; and so did our entire family. I need my father, my aging grandmother needs her son, my mother needs her husband, my uncle needs his brother, my cousins need their uncle, and my father needs us. Keeping my father away from our family and sending him to a land he does not know and where he has no support system is cruel and defies logic. Moreover, deporting my father would be a terrible loss for our community. New York taxpayers invested tremendous resources in my father’s transformation, and with the help of dedicated professionals, he succeeded remarkably. My father will continue his community work as a credible messenger after his incarceration. But without your pardon, we will all lose what we stand to benefit from my father’s return. The precious life of my father’s victim can never be replaced. As someone who lost her own brother in much the same way, I understand. But I am so proud of the man my father has become. He has taught me the importance of humility, hard work, and community service. Please help my father continue to live and work here in the U.S. If you give him this opportunity, I know he can help heal our broken world. Sincerely, Shayquana (daughter of Tyrone Abraham)

  • Bring Bakhodir Home!
Bakhodir Madjitov, a Connecticut father of 3 young boys, had been living in the US for 11 years when ICE raided his home in the early morning hours of December 22, 2017. He’s been in custody ever since. His children are suffering – and we’re concerned that he may be deported soon. Bakhodir’s wife Madina was 39 weeks pregnant with a complicated pregnancy when ICE entered their home without a warrant 2 years ago. Bakhodir and Madina’s third child was born a week after ICE detained his father. Prior to being detained, Bakhodir supported his family as a home health aide working with a government issued ID. In the last 2 years, ICE has moved Bakhodir around the country in detention centers in Massachusetts, Alabama, New Jersey, and Louisiana. Madina and her lawyers are concerned that ICE might be planning to deport Bakhodir- even though he has an active case pending. Connecticut values families. We want Madina and Bakhodir and the boys together. Join us in telling ICE that Bakhodir should be home with his wife and sons!

  • End LA Homelessness in 2020
A Nov. 10, 2019 Los Angeles Times op-ed on the idea of a homeless "village" that would create temporary, emergency shelter for all of the City's homeless received a huge, positive response. Clearly, Angelenos are eager for a big, bold and immediate solution to the homelessness that destroys lives and ruins our city.
