It is sad to see people of color put to rest time and time again in the hands of an officer who blatantly displays a lack of following proper procedure. An officer who kills another human being without reason is simply another murderer, and should be tried as one. One should not be allowed paid administrative leave; that is a slap in the face to everyone who has been forced to mourn over an undeserving death. I like to believe that racism no longer exists, just that people do. But when Isee various cases between people of color vs whites against officers, I cannot help but to compare the two. Stop biased laws. Stop allowing settlements. Stop administrative leave. Put these officers behind bars, take their freedom as you would do a black civilian.

Stop the senseless killings... I ask that you all stand with me to prevent another senseless act of violence... Removing the Shoot to Kill Law is a very necessary change that must take place. This change is in order to protect our citizens, families and anyone else who may fall under this scope. Many Law Enforcement Officers were taught Shoot to Kill during their training and are still being taught this harsh and Unjustified means of Murder. I ask that this senseless law be Taken Under Consideration and changed to a Shoot to Wound. Amendment: (1) I ask that more thorough background investigations be conducted Semi Annually for each officer that is involved in a shooting. (2) I ask that all officers participate in a Mandatory Diverse Communications Training to be able to articulate and handle individuals from different Socio-economic backgrounds. (3) Officers need to be more open and easier to approach when conducting community policing. This will help build better relationships with the public. (4) I ask that the academy training be changed to Ninety Days in which each officer participates in a Thirty Day Ride Along in addition to the usual On The Job Training. (5) I also ask that any officer found to be bias or guilty of not adhering to the laws be immediately terminated and dismissed. You took an Oath to uphold and obey the law at all times. This Oath needs to be protected and Honored. Each and every life counts. What if this were your son, daughter, husband, wife, sister or brother? Would you still think it was justified because your loved one didn't STOP and fall to the ground immediately? You are by law required to identify yourselves as police officers at the scene of any arrest just as we are required by law to carry identification. I ask the People to know and learn their rights as citizens. It's time to stop the violence...

Daily cop killings of U.S. Citizens with no accountability. If they get arrested until proven innocent and have no means to provide for their family while under arrest, this will most likely make them think twice before pulling the trigger.

Rape is Rape and No means No! Our children's safety should be a priority. She is 14 yrs old and was raped by an 18 year old and no charges were pressed. In fact after the Governors Ombudsman requested the detectives press charges they chose to close the case. Please help us get this reopened and get the justice my daughter deserves.

I'm starting this petition because we as Americans have given up way too many of our freedoms and rights in the quest for security. We have excepted the lie that certain policies and procedures are put in place to give us protection for to help defend against terrorism. But in all actuality he that is so far from the truth these freedoms and rights are taken from us to close down the gap on what we can do what we can do to make us More of a police state type of country for example some small on the municipalities in even some of the large ones now have equipment on their cruisers that run hundreds of license plates a second. This gives these smaller municipalities away to drive revenue that is borderline unconstitutional I don't care what the ruling say they shouldn't just be able to run license plates. I was affected because basically I was driving a hoop Dee in Dublin and I got followed and pulled over in the reasoning that the officer gave was he couldn't tell if my license plate was valid or not long story short my car got towed and impounded then I had to wait to be picked up by family and I spent over $500 closer to $600 on that whole ordeal getting my vehicle back. This needs to stop! This now get his police the ability to do racial profiling whenever they like for whatever reason they like and I will not stand for this I want how many others out there won't stand for it either.

As a black woman, I feel that we as people, a group, are being targeted! In the new 38-second recording, Sterling is already on the ground, on his back. One officer is kneeling to Sterling's left. The other officer appears to be straddling Sterling's legs. Sterling can be seen from the chest up and his lower legs are also visible. His left arms and hands are not visible; his right arm is by his side. After gunshots are heard, the camera pans to the right then back to Sterling, who has a large blood stain on his chest. The officer who was on his legs now lies on the pavement above Sterling's head, his gun pointed. The officer radios for an ambulance. As Sterling moves his left arm toward his face and then his chest, the other officer appears to remove something from one of Sterling's right pockets. Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. said Sterling was armed at the time he was killed and one witness said the officer removed a gun from Sterling's pocket. Sterling, a 37-year-old man who sold CDs and DVDs outside the store, died of his wounds. The officers involved in Tuesday's shooting -- Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II -- have been placed on administrative leave. A source close to the investigation told CNN the officers were interviewed Tuesday night. These officers deserve to be charged and convicted of FIRST degree murder! Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old Black man and father, was killed last night while selling CDs outside Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was shot several times by white police officers while pinned to the ground. The U.S. Department of Justice just announced that they'll be leading an independent civil rights investigation into this horrible murder. But that isn't enough. The Baton Rouge Police Department has a shameful history of racial profiling. In 2014, the arrest rate for Black residents was more than twice that of white residents. And the department also has a history of failing to hold cops accountable for using force—out of 35 use-of-force complaints investigated in recent years, not one resulted in charges getting filed against the police officer. This is unacceptable. The Baton Rouge Police Department must take action to address the ongoing violence against Black residents at the hands of police. The two officers involved in Alton's death should be fired and charged for their role in this murder, and Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. must step down for failing to address a culture of racism within the Baton Rouge Police Department.

I was sexually assaulted by three different people when I was young and I am now 46 years of age. I have been reading about other victims stories in the Daily News but Sen. Flanagan, the new Assembly Speaker, and Gov. Cuomo have failed to enact the anti-predator Child Safety Law, which lets victims prosecute their assaulters up to age 50. Orthodox Jews and the Catholic Church are against the legislation, which would favor the survivors/victims in adding further insult to injury.
