• Justice without death in Delaware
Citizens of conscience in Delaware believe the state should not have authority to kill. Many of us believe the Almighty holds that taking a life, except in self-defense, is objectively wrong. We also know from many studies of capital punishment that it does not deter murder. Rates of murder are not lower in states having the highest rates of capital punishment. Accordingly, if such taking of life is ineffective as a deterrent, what possible justification for it do we have? We think none.

  • Texas Senate: Reduce Pedro Ariel Lucio prison sentence
My brother has been incarcerated for 10 years in a Texas state prison, we as his family believe that the 10 years he has already served is sufficient punishment for his actions. He has a 11 year old son who really needs his father in his life, our mother hasn't been the same without him. Please take in consideration that their has been other cases similar to his case and have been sentenced to less time then what our brother has been sentenced to.

  • Transparency Into The Miriam Carey Shooting Death
My sister Miriam was shot and killed by unknown members of the U.S. Secret Service Police and U.S Capital Police in Washington, D.C.. While details of other police involved shooting deaths have been made public, the details and facts in my sister's case still remain withheld from the Carey family and U.S. public at large. We call for transparency in the shooting death of Miriam Carey.

  • LegalizeMarijuana in PA for Adults 21 and Older
The science is in on this issue, marijuana is safe, far safer than alcohol. Colorado has shown, this can be done. We can pull Pennsylvania out of the pension problem, fix the school funding, and cut property taxes, just with the tax revenue, while putting thousands to work here in PA

  • No Tolerance Law for Ohio
We need a No Tolerance law for Ohio, like Kentucky has, to charge dealers for murder, not manslaughter. Put the addicts in rehab, not jail.

  • Citizens Demand the Forced Removal of Trespass Cattle from the Gold Butte area
The residents of the Virgin Valley have had their access to Federal Lands restricted by the lawless actions of Bundy and have watched the Gold Butte area continually be degraded by the unlawful trespassing of Cliven Bundy for many years. It is past time for the BLM to do the job it is charged with and do WHATEVER IS NECESSARY to remove the trespass cattle and punish the unlawful actions of Bundy and his followers. Do your job. Backing down to criminals will never change their unlawful behavior and only serves to encourage others to follow his unlawful actions. DO YOUR JOB, or resign Lawlessness only breeds more lawlessness.

  • Legalize Marijuana in Kentucky
Kentucky led the United States in the installation of the Affordable Care Act. Our governor, Steve Beshear, has been highly instrumental in implementing this program here. Imagine what Governor Beshear could do with the legalization of marijuana. I have health care now, for the first time in many years. With the legalization of marijuana, I could also afford to treat two chronic medical conditions that have plagued me for years. I have no desire to take narcotics, even if I could afford them, and narcotics are dangerously addictive. Marijuana has been proven to help people like me. Thank you.

  • DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MARTESE JOHNSON
The Alcoholic Beverage Control agents involved in the brutal nighttime assault on honor student Martese Johnson had no regard for the upstanding University of Virginia student's safety when they viciously slammed the 20-year-old's head onto a brick walkway, causing blood to spray in several directions and pool in rivulets beneath his gaping forehead, while passersby looked on. It was later revealed that the young man had been arrested after his valid, state-issued identification was found to be "overly suspicious." Martese was ultimately arrested for "public intoxication, swearing, and obstruction of justice," of which many believe he is innocent. This type of policing is dangerous, divisive, and has no place in American society.

  • Please Vote 'No' on HR 143 and Support Gov. Wolf's Death Penalty Moratorium
The governor's decision to pause executions is the right decision for our state. In 2011, the Pennsylvania Senate passed Senate Resolution No. 6, “Directing the Joint State Government Commission to establish a bipartisan task force and an advisory committee to conduct a study of capital punishment in this Commonwealth and to report their findings and recommendations.” The results of the study will be presented to the legislature and the governor. It is only right to pause executions while awaiting this report. In a series of articles published in December 2014, the Reading Eagle found that Pennsylvania taxpayers have spent over $350 million on the death penalty over a period in which the state has carried out just three executions. All three executions involved inmates who had dropped their appeals. Our system is clearly costly and broken, the governor is right to take a closer look.
