As a registered nurse, I know the negative impact on health of refined sugar and saturated fat. These food additives can cause a range of health problems. 1. refined sugar contributes to diabetes with it's neurological and kidney complications; 2. saturated fat contributes to breast cancer and heart disease. Health care costs and mortality rates will increase.

CNN is allowing a right-wing, anti-immigrant extremist group to run racist ads that scare Americans about family-based immigration. NumbersUSA, a group founded by white nationalist John Tanton, is airing a controversial ad that promotes Donald Trump’s racist agenda against immigrants. In their ad, NumbersUSA attacks family values by going after immigrants in the US who sponsor close relatives for green cards. Our laws allow some relatives of American citizens and legal residents to immigrate to the United States, because US policies support family unity. But NumbersUSA, which is against all kinds of immigration, wants to demonize this system. In their view, it leads to “too many” people of color in America. Throughout the years, NumbersUSA has helped derail bipartisan immigration reform legislation in Congress, while working to carry out John Tanton’s vision of limiting immigration of non-white immigrants to the United States. Even worse, NumbersUSA’s leader, Roy Beck, has been known to edit race-baiting articles from a racist journal known as the Social Contract Press. Right now, CNN is airing a six-figure ad buy from NumbersUSA in Washington DC. If CNN wants to truly be “fair and balanced,” it should not air advertising from hate groups like NumbersUSA. This group is not a legitimate commentator on immigration; it's a right-wing extremist group trying to push Donald Trump’s xenophobic agenda and it must be stopped immediately! Donald Trump's White House is attempting to undermine the accuracy of the 2020 Census, limit representation for communities of color, and politicize it for its own partisan gain. The Trump administration just announced that they will add a question about citizenship, which will skew the results of the 2020 Census, and intimidate any American -- citizen or not -- out of speaking up to be counted. They've already dramatically underfunded this crucial survey, and are now trying to put a professor working to defend North Carolina's racial gerrymandering in charge of it. Now, they're stepping up their efforts. We must speak out NOW to stop them from rigging the Census. The Census is supposed to count everyone who lives in the United States regardless of citizenship status -- and this unnecessary question could discourage people from completing the survey and skew the final count. And if that happens, it'd turbo-charge gerrymandering and make our district lines even more unfair than they already are. The 2020 Census will shape our nation's democracy, public policy and economy for a decade -- and getting it right is absolutely crucial. We already know that people of color, particularly Black and Latino communities in both urban and rural areas, are at an especially high risk of being undercounted by the Census. This change would only exacerbate that worrying trend. That's why we must speak out NOW to demand that Congress prevent this deliberate attempt to rig the Census to undercount communities of color. Tell your members of Congress to oppose any legislation and/or moves by the Census Bureau to add a question on citizenship or immigration status.

After seeing this horrendous video get six million views online and having people accept his apology for putting a person's hanging body online as well, it was a disrespectful thing to do. There have been a lot of mishaps with him and his brother, Jake Paul, but this is a new low and it needs to end.

He severely disrespected an entire country, disrespected the dead and has failed to be punished for said crime.

Living in Morgan County for a few months has brought to my attention the lack of responsibility by pet owners. The County is considered a farming community and allows less restrictive laws about keeping animals out in harsh weathered environments. By county law, the animal only needs a water source and 3 walls- even if the water is frozen solid and the "shelter" allows any rain/snow/hail/etc. in and traps the animal from getting the proper shelter or even traps them from getting out. Animals bring families together, make owners a livelihood, and bring comfort, if we are not taking care of them like they care for us, the community will crumble. Just think of how that can impact communities across the nation.

As someone who's familiar with the events at Waco and ithe tragedy's subsequent politicization by the Republican party and the NRA, I'm deeply disturbed to see an accredited news organization citing a conspiracy-monger as an authority. As someone who cares about the rights of children, I'm incensed to see ABC giving a voice to someone who's defended a sexual abuser.

This petition is to give the basic adult rights to adults of all age groups, instead of certain rights starting at certain ages. I have had the dream of running for president for many years now, but since the minimum age to run is 35 I have had to push it off to 2040, but if the minimum age was the age was the age of an adult (18) than I would be able to run in the 2020 election.

Our petition is about banning animal testing in the United States. We have an 8th grade community service project in which we hope to raise awareness about animal testing.

Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) recently investigated a pig farm in Ontario and found mother pigs confined so tightly they could not turn around and were forced to lay in their own waste. They also found female pigs with horrific prolapses and baby piglets who were dead and dying. Many piglets were discarded like garbage. While investigating the farm, the activists rescued Noel, a piglet who was in need of medical care. They rushed him to the vet and to sanctuary where he was nursed back to health and now lives safe, happy and free. While Noel is now safe, the activists had to leave thousands of pigs behind. A complaint was submitted to the Ontario SPCA, citing extreme animal cruelty, but no action was taken. Sign the petition and ask the OSPCA to act now!
