• Shame on the New York Jets for hiring Michael Vick
The scourge of dog fighting still plagues this country. Allowing scum like Vick to represent the New York Jets is appalling. Vick's sadistic and brutal abuse still haunts the dogs who managed to survive. It makes animal lovers everywhere sick to see Vick on the news. Stop rewarding his monstrous behavior by paying him millions.

  • The NFL bought itself a tax exemption — Let's repeal it.
You know the NFL as the National Football League. But the IRS knows them better as the Nonprofit Football League – that’s because the NFL has not paid any taxes since 1966 and average Americans are left paying higher taxes to make up for that lost revenue. Senator Coburn is trying to change that, and we support his endeavor. The NFL has spent $3.6 million lobbying in recent years, and contributed more than $1.6 million to members of Congress. It leads all professional sports leagues in lobbying expenditures. Lobbyists demonstrated their prowess by adding, “or professional football leagues” to the language regulating 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations back in 1966, and it has remained there ever since. No wonder Senator Coburn has yet to gain the support of his colleagues – we know how powerfully corrupting money in politics and the role of lobbyists has become. The only way Congress will act in the people’s interest is if the people begin demanding it and show them where we stand!

  • Fire Rejean Shero
You have the two best players in the game and continue year after year fail to surround them with 2 respectable players. Neal and Kunitz are fine, but Sid should not be stuck with Dupuis/Bennett/Stemp and Geno should not be stuck with Jokinen. Kunitz will only start to decline from here on out. Sadly, these are some of the better forwards that these two have played with. Sid and Geno are no longer 20 years old, it is time to properly utilize them. STOP signing guys like Orpik and Scuderi. They are not good players. Stop only drafting Dmen. You should probably play some young guys regularly to save cap space and to maximize their value. Shero's 2013 off-season: Re-signed: Dupuis and Adams Signed: Kobasew, Jeffrey, D'Agostini, Scuderi 3 of these idiots were waived Shero's #1 mistake - signing Bylsma to an extension Shero should be relived of his duties. His strategy of modeling the team after the Nashville Predators, yes, those Predators who have won 2 playoff series in their history.

  • Legalization of Marijuana
US Policy on Drugs was driven by the Drug War, the U.S. prison population is six to ten times as high as most Western European nations. The United States is a close second only to Russia in its rate of incarceration per 100,000 people. In 2010, more than 746,000 people were arrested in the USA for marijuana-related offenses alone. On the 6th of November 2012 marijuana was legalized for recreational use in Colorado and Washington state. People over the age of 21 can possess up to an ounce of marijuana for recreational use. At least these people can now carry weed without worrying about the police arresting them. 31st of May 2013 former Mexican president Vincente Fox states that he wants marijuana to be legalized in Mexico and the USA. 10th December 2013 Uruguay becmes the first country to legalize growing, selling and smoking marijuana. However tourists will not be able to legally purchase cannabis. On the 1st of January, 2014 marijuana was legally sold in Colorado. Anyone 21 years of age and over is welcome to visit their nearby cannabis club and purchase marijuana. This marks the start of the green revolution and Washington will soon follow suit. One thing is for sure, it seems that marijuana has become a brand long before it was legal. At least judging by queues upon queues of people waiting to witness this historical moment and actually buy some weed.Rules & Regulations Still, lets be fair. You can buy it but you’re not allowed to smoke it in public. The first day left a bitter taste for some as the price of weed has risen up to $400 per ounce. That’s almost a quadruple increase of the black market price but black markets don’t have taxes in the range of 25%. The government and police monitoring will be strong in this one as all eyes are on Colorado at the moment. Everybody wants to make sure no slip-ups happen that would turn the legalization movement into a PR nightmare. In the 24 shops that opened that day, Colorado hasn’t reported one single incident. Well, there was a guy who was caught smoking it outside but that was quickly taken care of by the police. So if Missouri can follow these states I think it would cut down on are prison population in the state of Missouri

  • Education is the key to saving Rhinos
Rhinos are estimated to be totally extinct in the wild worldwide within less than 15 years unless we educate the world about the issue and get everyone to understand that Rhino horn has no medicinal value. Together we can save the species for future generations to enjoy.

  • STOP THE SALE OF (PGW) PHILADLEPHIA GAS WORKS
Read the story below. She awoke early; and the house was cold as ice. She was eighty-two years old. She lived alone. The temperature was below zero. She could hardly move. It was so cold. Her old body felt stiff and her joints ached. Her feet felt numb. She had been without heat for two weeks. The gas had been shut off two weeks earlier because of unpaid bills. She had tried to forestall the shut off but to no avail. She had pleaded with the gas man not to turn off her gas but was unsuccessful. “Ma’am I don’t want to do this, but this is my job.” The weather report on the radio indicated that the temperature would be subzero for the next couple of days. The cold was penetrating. “A cup of hot tea would be great,” she thought. She forgot for the moment, she didn’t have any gas to cook with. Her old body felt stiff and it was difficult to move. The cold was biting and had seeped through the layers of clothing she wore. She looked for a way to stay warm. She huddled beneath the rug on the floor vainly trying to escape the cold. “This should help,” she thought. It seemed to temporarily provide some warmth. Within a short time she began to feel the cold again. She could feel almost nothing in her feet and her hands were icy cold. She began to feel tired and sleep seemed to be overtaking her. A little voice inside her told her, “Stay awake. Don’t sleep.” She jarred herself awake. But again the pull of sleep tugged at her. She couldn’t resist. It felt warm, comforting. She drifted off again. Two days later news headline read, “Woman 82 Found Frozen to Death in Unheated Home.” This is a true story. Her name was Sophia Easer and it happened in 1976. Ms Easer death led to revision of PGW policies on gas shut offs in extremely cold weather. This is the scenario we picture if we allow PGW to be privatized. The governing agencies regulating PGW will end, as well as policy on shut offs. We will see exorbitant gas bills, termination of the LIHEAP Program (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), a loss of jobs and a loss of $18 million a year in revenue to the city from PGW. Sign our petition. Urge the city not sell off PGW. SIGN HERE and tell City Council not to sell PGW.

  • Ban Violence and Sex on Billboards!
Living in Los Angeles, my small children are forced to view enormous graphics of serial murderers holding knives dripping with blood, dead bodies, vampires and other various forms of the "undead," barely clothed models in overtly sexual positions, and a whole other host of inappropriate and terrifying images and texts. I can choose what television programs, books, and magazines my children view. There is regulation in regards to content for children's television shows and commercials played during these shows. Yet, I have no control over the images or words my children see every day as they walk on the sidewalk, look out the car window, or travel on public transportation, and there seems to be little to no regulation for these advertisements. Also, as advertisements change often, I never know where the worst offenders will be; I have avoided certain intersections because of a particularly disturbing billboard, only to find a new equally disturbing image plastered up along my alternate route. Children (and adults) should not be subjected to violent and sexual images in public spaces. Please create more stringent regulation on billboard and other public advertisement. Thank you!

  • School lunches
I'm troubled with the options for school lunches. There are certainly better options currently to choose from. I say take it a step further and serve non GMO verified food products, whole organic fruit (not from bulk BPA laden cans) & non GMO frozen/fresh vegetables, no chocolate milk, organic milk, hormone/antibiotic free dairy and meats, etc...
