• Petition to remove Ms. Weiss from her position at Franklin Academy
Any use of violence by a teacher or staff member is inexcusable. Ms. Weiss threw a shoe at a student and is being permitted to continue teaching our children. Our children's safety and security should be our top priority and Ms. Weiss should be terminated.

  • Yahoo Mail: Stop charging a fee to actually close accounts
After my Yahoo email account was hacked for the second time last year, I deactivated my account. Imagine my surprise when I recently learned that contacts of mine are still receiving spam from my defunct account. As a therapist it is problematic that an email coming from my identity with the subject “How are you?” could potentially harm the computer of a friend, colleague or even client. When I contacted Yahoo tech support, they told me they would require a fee of $49.99 to delete the account. Their explanation was that a hacker from Canada was able to reactivate the account after I deactivated it online, but before Yahoo deleted it from their server. I could not access the account, nor could I stop the spam without paying this ransom. The consequences for me are serious, but could have been even worse. From cyber-bullying to official persecution, the way we manage our online identities can have real-world repercussions, and each of us must have the freedom to make our own choices online. Privacy and control of our online identities are concerns shared by most internet users. Please sign the petition to Yahoo to cease its extortionist practices, and share this story so all internet users are aware that creating an email account with this company means you may need to pay to close the account.

  • Mayor Bill De Blasio: Save the horse drawn carriage rides in New York City
Let the carriage horses be! As a professional animal trainer and manager, I know that my animals love the work we do together, and they love their fans and the carriage horses do too! Both carriage and police horses are beloved and cared for and are an important part of New York - AND SHOULD REMAIN SO. Don't sell out the stables for commercial development. Instead, give them turnout privileges in Sheep's Meadow, Central Park and one day of rest a week to enjoy it!

  • Roundy's Corporation: Label GMOs
We’re launching a campaign to show grocery chains, like Roundy's Corporation, that their customers want GMO labeling, and persuade them to follow the lead of other grocery stores like Whole Foods. We have a right to know what’s in the food we buy, so we can make healthy, responsible, and informed choices about what we’re eating. Sign this petition to Roundy's CEO Bob Mariano and ask him as a customer to label GMOs in store-brand products.

  • Clayton County "Heart stick" method to euthanize
The euthanization of innocent animals is already an epidemic in this country. However, Clayton County animal control uses two horrific methods for euthanizing the animals who have not been adopted. It is called the "Heart Stick" method and the "gas Chamber" both of which are an excruciatingly way for anyone to have to suffer. Please help stop these two horrendous methods .

We the undersigned ask Stephens Media to support freedom and diversity of speech in our community and allow Las Vegas CityLife to continue publication.

  • Petition Target: No unlicensed drug rehabilitation programs be allowed to operate in Oregon City/...
Teen Challenge Portland Men's Center is proposing a 10,590 square foot dormitory where they plan to treat 60 alcoholics and drug addicts. This facility is being proposed in the South End area of Oregon City, in a densely occupied preexisting neighborhood. This facility would create a great concern for safety within the community, home values lowering, and increased noise and congestion. We do not want Teen Challenge Portland Men's Center operating in such close proximity to our neighborhood.

  • Tell Gov. Rick Scott & Florida GOP: Denounce candidate who used Jesus' words to incite violence a...
A Republican candidate in Florida is invoking the words of Jesus to argue that President Obama should be hanged for treason. Joshua Black, a candidate for state representative, voiced his agreement that "it's time to arrest and hang him high," then went on to state, "This would be exactly what the President has done to others, and, as Jesus said, 'the measure ye mete, it shall be meted to you again.'" Black's rhetoric is unusually outrageous, but it's just the latest example in a pattern of conservative Republicans exploiting Christianity to advance a hateful agenda and vilify President Obama. A few Republicans in Florida have begun to criticize Joshua Black's comments, but if the Republican Party is serious about putting an end to this kind of offensive rhetoric, they need to publicly denounce Black's candidacy and assure voters that he won't receive any support from the party.
