Teen Challenge Portland Men's Center is proposing a 10,590 square foot dormitory where they plan to treat 60 alcoholics and drug addicts. This facility is being proposed in the South End area of Oregon City, in a densely occupied preexisting neighborhood. This facility would create a great concern for safety within the community, home values lowering, and increased noise and congestion. We do not want Teen Challenge Portland Men's Center operating in such close proximity to our neighborhood.

A Republican candidate in Florida is invoking the words of Jesus to argue that President Obama should be hanged for treason. Joshua Black, a candidate for state representative, voiced his agreement that "it's time to arrest and hang him high," then went on to state, "This would be exactly what the President has done to others, and, as Jesus said, 'the measure ye mete, it shall be meted to you again.'" Black's rhetoric is unusually outrageous, but it's just the latest example in a pattern of conservative Republicans exploiting Christianity to advance a hateful agenda and vilify President Obama. A few Republicans in Florida have begun to criticize Joshua Black's comments, but if the Republican Party is serious about putting an end to this kind of offensive rhetoric, they need to publicly denounce Black's candidacy and assure voters that he won't receive any support from the party.

To give due recognition to Constance Baker Motley (1921-2005), Civil Rights Attorney, Law maker and Judge. Judge Constance Baker Motley argued and won many of the most important desegregation cases in our country's history. She was a lead lawyer in the Brown vs the Board of Education. She was the only woman on the leadership team of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund with Thurgood Marshall, 1946-1964. 1st African American Woman to serve in the NYS Senate, 1st African American woman to serve as Manhattan Borough President, 1st African American woman to serve as a Federal judge to the US District Court and Chief Federal Judge. A Congressional Gold Medal is a fitting award for a woman who broke barriers and was a pioneer throughout her career and highly instrumental in bringing about desegregation in our public schools, colleges, housing, transportation and other public accomodations

Sign the petition to the CEO of Safeway and ask him to label GMOs in store-brand products. GMOs aren’t without risk — some are designed for increased pesticides, which have been linked to serious health and environmental effects. And they usually don’t undergo safety testing before being brought to market. Some stores, like Whole Foods, have started labeling their GMO products, and we think Safeway should too.

We want to see a Starbucks/subway in our High School. We think it will create a calm and relaxing place for students to work in during school ours.

GMOs aren’t without risk— some are designed for increased pesticides, which have been linked to serious health and environmental effects. And they usually don’t undergo safety testing before being brought to market. Congress has not adopted a GMO labeling requirement, but in the meantime some stores, like Whole Foods, have responded to the strong concern of customers by labeling their GMO products, so we’re asking Jewel to start labeling store-brand products that contain GMOs.

- Local farmers would not survive if this bill were passed. Safe use of pesticides allow them to grow fresh, healthy, affordable, local produce available to everyone without the threat of insects and pests. - Local farmers provide sustainability for our island state. Without them, we'll have to import all of our fresh produce at high costs. - Farmers and Ranchers already disclose their pesticide use information as regulated by State and Federal law. The pesticides that are used have very strict rules and parameters that certified users must abide by and have been vigorously tested for health and safety purposes. - Approximately 3 trillion meals with GMO ingredients have been consumed without incident. - Benefits of biotech include a reduction in pesticide spraying which is the equivalent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as removing 10.2 million cars from the road for a year while saving crops such as the papaya. - Over 600 peer-reviewed studies (1/3 of which are independently funded) show that biotech (GMO) crops are safe and beneficial. We support Federal and State laws that regulate pesticides and GMOs to provide parity for farmers and ranches statewide. To our Elected Officials, As a resident of Hawaii, I urge you to please oppose additional County level regulations relating to the use of pesticides and GMO. We have a right to make healthy, responsible, and informed choices about the food we eat and our families eat. But food and biotech giants like Monsanto, Dupont, and Pepsi are spending millions to keep consumers in the dark and block GMO labeling. GMOs aren't without risk and some are designed for increased pesticides, which have been linked to serious health and environmental effects. We can't wait for Congress to pass a national GMO labeling law, so instead we need Safeway to take the lead and start labeling their store-brand products that contain GMOs.

The guest bathrooms should be available to all individuals living in Kappa Alpha Theta because all attendants pay their fees to use all of the facilities of this house. Even if these bathrooms were only used for guests, it would still be a considerable hassle to unlock the doors for every single guest visit. If there were considerable damage being done to the guest bathrooms, such an action might be reasonable. On another note, the door to the Conversation Room should be reinstalled. Without this room there is an incredible lack of privacy in the house. All residents of this house should be able to receive private calls, take interview calls, etc. in a quiet, secluded place. The Conversation Room has always been such a place, and the room, as it stands now, serves no intermittent purpose.

The end of cannabis prohibition in the Great State of Mississippi is both a compassionate and business savvy way of providing jobs and tax revenue for the benefit of all Mississippians. We all know someone, or would benefit ourselves, from legislation ending cannabis prohibition. Whether it's a child with an unmanageable seizure disorder, a veteran suffering through the nightmare of PTSD, or a small farmer on the brink of bankruptcy looking for a versatile , marketable , cash crop--all of us know someone who will benefit from this initiative.
