• Blue ribbon and George Veditz on special license plate
We, Deaf West Virginians support Karen Kingrey's idea to create new decal on the special license plate. We prefer blue ribbon and George Veditz instead of symbol of ear with slash. We want to honor George Veditz, former President of NAD who preserved our sign language which is most noblest God-given gift and blue ribbon represents Deaf culture, language, community, and history.

  • no mbta fare hikes/dervice cuts
The MBTA wants to raise fares. It's been a time of record unemployment, people have been forced out of homes, many have gone bankrupt. Few outside the MBTA Union workers have received 3.5% cost of living increases and pay little toward their health insurance + minor co-pays for health services. The MBTA Board has to go back to the drawing Board for a better solution. Getting more off the backs of seniors + disabled peopkle isn't right.

  • "Governor Fallin: Let your people of this great state be heard on issues we value."
The Oklahoma legislature is facing an agenda packed with urgent issues. Governor Mary Fallin has the opportunity to stand behind the people of Oklahoma on these issues by letting our voices be heard as well. As an Oklahoman, I am calling on our Governor to support our ideas, needs, and wants as if, she herself, was an average citizen.

  • no Fare hikes or cut backs for mass transit,
MBTA union employees were getting a 3.5% while Social Security recipients got none. We had about a four hundred dollar increase this year. MBTA unions pay little towards their health insurance co-pay + other medical costs. Seems unfare to raise fares on our backs.

  • Magnesium Presidential coins
to eliminate constant pork barrel spending. Jack Reed chaired a bill to manufacture magnesium presidential coins because he felt they would be gathered up by the pub as investments. Not only were these coins rejected overwhelmingly, they are being minted 24/7, and a new building has been built to store millions of bags of these worthless coins. The senate has slowed down the process by 20%, but intend to return to 100% minting after the first quarter. This is absurd! And Reed is from RI to make matters worse!

  • Children First
Rather than protecting banks or corporations first, children and the people and institutions that raise, support and protect them, need fostering first. No policies (housing, employment, educa- tional, medical, military, immigration, etc.) that endanger this huge, politically unrepresented population shall be advocated, enacted or enforced. If necessary, a constitutional amend- ment to this effect should be enacted. Not only morally is this correct, but in every way including economic, the nation's future does.

  • Call for the immediate firing of the Stark County Animal Warden for Inhumane treatment of Animals.
Deputy Phil let a dog bleed to death after darting it in the artery. His position will be decided this Tuesday at a county meeting. Let the Council hear your disgust at the maltreatment of the dog and his obvious lack of mercy for the animals in his care. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY FIRST ACCOUNTS OF THIS DEPUTY'S ABUSE!

  • Florida Muscovy Ducks Should be Protected
Florida, unlike Texas, does not recognize Muscovy Ducks as Native and therefore, they are not protected against abuse.. These ducks have been in Florida for 1,500 years from when the Spanish Explorers were on the Okeechobee Trail and that qualifies them as being here over 250 years for the Florida Fish and Wildlife's requirements (See Okeechobee Trail and Spanish Explorer History). However, Florida only states that they have been here since the late 1960's (I have photos of my Grandma feeding Muscovy Ducks in the 1930's). This statement from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is untrue about the Muscovy's only being here since the late 1960's. Please ask Gov. Rick Scott to accept them into the Florida Fish and Wild Life's list as Protected against abuse.
