Special Education Adult Students are Left BehindI have a Daughter that is Special Needs Adult. For MANY years we have watched cuts being made by our government. There are many parents who go through this. These are the people who truly need your support. People with a disability often never have a voice or never get to vote on issues that would impact them. You are their voices. It is time to make a stand. Be that voice. Parent90 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lori McNally

Save Lakeview from Proposed Brown Line FlyoverDozens of residents will lose their homes and several businesses will be shuttered in hopes of possibly shaving a few seconds of L riders' daily commutes. There are other less costly solutions for adding capacity without causing such long-term destruction to the neighborhood.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizen

Work While on Welfare to Buy Toilet Paper = Homeless in Oakland, CABecause depriving someone of the means of getting TOILET PAPER, and then punishing them for trying to do a little honest work WHILE DISABLED and then HONESTLY REPORTING IT by putting them through bureaucratic hell and then creating an imminent threat to their housing arrangements is JUST WRONG!90 of 100 SignaturesCreated by daredtoworkwhileonwelfare

Parents of Children with Disabilities- Early Supplemental Social SecurityBecause I have a disabled child, I am not able to work a full time job due to my child's weekly appts or meltdowns. Therefore my household is handicapped. I have put a lot of money into Social Security and feel that I should receive benefits early, based on my situation.97 of 100 SignaturesCreated by stephania roberts

Villa Serena Apartments, Continue to Accept my Section 8Please accept my reasonable accommodation due to my disability, in order for my family to remain in what's been our home for 5 years, to avoid homelessness. Landlords, who are evicting tenants due to not wanting to participate in the program anymore are making families like mine at high risk of homelessness in this county altogether. The other landlords in the county aren't wanting to accept the program either and the rents out there have skyrocketed, leaving no options for families like mine to keep a roof over our heads. I started this petition because my family was given a 90-day notice, to move on June 30, 2014, due to having a Section 8 voucher, that they no longer want to accept. Since that time and due to the housing crisis occurring in the Bay Area, we have a high liklihood of becoming homeless if our current landlord won't continue to accept my voucher. My adult daughter and I are trying very hard to further our education through our community college in order to obtain careers so we can stand on our own feet and not have to continue on the Section 8 program. However, if we are forced into homelessness, this will put us at a great disadvantage of completing our goals. I also have a 17 month old granddaughter living with me who doesn't deserve to spend her first years of life homeless due to a landlord who just wants to rid of families for their way of paying their rent. My landlord is not forcing out other families who pay less than new move-ins and increasing their rents little by little and I don't understand why they can't do the same for my family. 12 families here out of the over 100 townhouse/apartments, have been asked to leave for the same reason but I don't know if any of them are disabled like me. With no tenant protections in San Mateo, asking for a reasonable accommodation is the only way to get help and so far my landlord has denied my request. Please help my family keep a roof over our heads and I hope the best for the other families as well.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Doreen Joiner

The US Mail is Not For Sale! Our goal is to organize our employees, concerned citizens and organizations to rally together, letting the post office know that the Pee Dee region needs a strongmail service, like we’ve had for hundreds of years. We also want to let them know that putting up Postal Contract Units in stores with employees with no previous postal service training and no background checks—unlike our USPS employees—is unacceptable. This is about the security and the timely delivery of our mail.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Issac Nixon

The Safety of Irving Park Rd., Between Harlem Ave. & Cumberland Ave. in ChicagoPeople in the area, including my own family, have been detrimentally impacted by the lack of safety on Irving Park Rd. It is problematic and frankly dangerous to cross the busy street to walk to the nearby bus stop, stores, restaurants and to meet-up with friends. A handful of us tried to contact the local politicians with this plea with mixed results. We need this petition to add traction to our request for the improved safety in our community.243 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Janina

Mayor DeBlasio: End corruption and incompetence within DSS/HRAAs a single mom, my children and I were able to escape our abuser, their father; a situation which has left us without income or child support. Four (4) months after seeking emergency assistance from HRA/DSS, our civil rights have been violated in that our case has been grossly mishandled and left dormant. We have had to live without means to purchase food, clothing, toilet paper, etc. Innumerable phone calls to DSS went unanswered and/ or the phone numbers provided were non-working numbers. We are now in the process of going to a homeless shelter, despite HRA/DSS programs designed to prevent this and despite me fighting every single day, with the help of Senator Tony Avella (D, Queens), to prevent this. It should be noted that myself and Senator Avella are in possession of every single defective document and all telephone records and every erroneous email and communication between myself and HRA/DSS. As an unemployed lawyer in a dismal economy, I choose to fight this battle on behalf of all New Yorkers in need, in order to prevent harm and homelessness to other families.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Donna A.

changing child support standards and regulations.I'm starting this petition to get congress and child support to make some much needed child support regulations changes. Men go months without paying and nothing is being done. When they are finally punished and the punishment is over they continue to pay nothing. Women are working 2 different jobs to maintain a house for their kids while the man gets off scott free. I should not have to bring in my income to a review when I'm not being ordered to pay child support. Child support payments should not be based off of both the parents incomes only the father. It's time to stand up an actually make the system work the way it should.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alice

Councilman Bonin: Save the Free Storage Venice ProgramMeet the Free Storage Venice Program! Copy and paste this link into your browser for the video: http://vimeo.com/100468839 What would you do if you had no place to put your important paperwork (birth certificate, social security card, etc.), all of your clothing, bedding, personal items, and other essentials, and must carry these items with you throughout the day or leave them where they may be stolen or taken by city employees? That is what the unhoused people in Venice deal with everyday. A lack of storage space prevents them from accessing social services, employment, libraries, public transportation, and the ability to address personal needs without risking the loss of everything they own. Venice Community Housing, with the cooperation of the City of Los Angeles, has provided a successful solution, Free Storage Venice. By simply providing a secure place to store belongings, this program has improved the lives of 60 people. We desperately need to expand it. We have a waiting list of over 100 unhoused people. -The Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC) identified several locations as possible options for Free Storage Venice program (FSV). - At that time, Councilman Bonin promised to investigate and identify a permanent location for this program. - Free Storage Venice currently provides storage for 60 individuals, with a waiting list of 100, we are making a difference but we need the opportunity to grow and continue to provide this life changing service - we need a permanent home.99 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stephanie Tatro
