Family Resource Networks are organizations that understand and are responsive to the needs and opportunities in WV communities. Partnering with citizens and local organization, the FRNs develop, coordinate and administer innovative projects and provide needed resources. FRNs have leverage 6.7 million in funds to local communities 1.3 million in funds for other organizations Over 2 million in-kind 117 people employed through FRNs FRN's believe that the most valuable and lasting improvements arise locally, from determined and well-equipped local leaders who can mobilize their communities with a common vision. We believe that investing in these leaders is one of the most critical catalysts for community-wide change. Most of all we believe that the children and families of WV are valuable. A state that is equally proud of its worth and resources will be a state that continues to work for a better future.

A year later, I am still paying for a dental crown, even with some, but inadequate insurance. A hospitalization or surgery can bankrupt a family. We can't afford as a culture to neglect the working poor. As a former teacher, I have seen the effects of healthcare neglected in little children who just can't learn due to chronic coughs, lack of meds, etc. We as a culture must do better!

California is so dry, we have fires starting very easily. They also are talking about how critical our water shortage is. There is a desperate need of water and a huge ocean out there!

Awareness and Prevention of this increasing issue that requires imminent action equal the serious urgency of the children in desperate need of protection and deep concern regarding their safety in the home. Children's advocacy is not biological obligation but an adult, parental and moral responsibility that requires communal support and involvement.

The day before My son R.Garrett Viccaro turns 25 and his friend Justin Mitchell were killed while fishing to celebrate their birthdays, (Not out drinking) because a man was distracted by his phone and there was nothing to alert him he was crossing a bike lane, and hitting the bridge. We live in Florida a tourist state known for fishing, MAKE IT SAFE for the locals, and tourist. Save Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The United Shared Savings Network is an idea that was created to primarily accomplish the goal of reducing poverty and inequality. Implementation of this idea with government participation could potentially eliminate the need for the Food Stamp Program, reduce the costs of other social net programs such as Section 8 and cover the costs of Health Insurance Premiums for uninsured Americans who cannot afford coverage. Perhaps more interesting is that implementation of this idea will (a) not cost taxpayers any money, (b) it will benefit everyone in society and(c) it will effectively reduce spending without the negative economic impact on poor people which is a consequence of all other proposals put forward with regard to budget cuts on social net programs. A member of congress has already expressed great interest in the concept and suggested I move forward with further development and presentations. I have been told that without knowing the right people or spending a great deal of money on lobbyist, our leaders in Washington will not help, seriously consider, properly evaluate or support a great idea coming from an average citizen no matter what solutions it may provide. The many significant benefits the United Shared Savings Network will provide to the people of this country are too great to ignore or let slip through the cracks of our political system, because of who it was created by or who is proposing it.

I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker. Our professional, National recognition is poor: how often do you hear Social Workers praised by the media or politicians, compared to Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Nurses, or Teachers? We are not just case managers. Many Social Workers have graduate school education and training, plus State Licensing, that permits us to engage Children, Adolescents, Families and Adults in Therapy. We work hard, are often exposed to secondary traumas and physical harm, and like many other professionals, we have increasing productivity targets and top-down pressures to perform, BUT for low-incomes, compared to Teachers, Nurses, Fire Fighters and Police personnel. Altruism and Compassion are necessary moral foundations for Social Work. But together, they do not our pay rent, utility bills, student loans, nor increase according to actual cost-of-living expenses. Social Workers deserve better National recognition, respect, and higher pay.

Universal breakfast and universal lunch are needed in U.S. schools. Currently 1 in 5 children in the United States faces hunger. The undersigned demand that child nutrition programs in U.S. schools be expanded to provide universal breakfast and universal lunch for all school children. Every child in every school should eat every day--no questions, no stigma, no accounts, and no separate meal lines for children from low-income households. --In response to recent news that the Salt Lake City school district in Utah publicly dumped children's meals into the trash in front of them because they did not have money in their lunch accounts--the district having made a decision to humiliate children with money problems, and publicly throw untouched food away rather than allow the children to be fed with it; --in response to our congress voting to cut 9 billion in food aid to needy families, while families across the nation are still reeling from a financial crisis they did not create; --in response to the story of a Georgia bus driver, Johnny Cook, losing his job over publicly expressing outrage at a child going hungry in school, while the Georgia Congressional representative Jack Kingston publicly proposed child labor for impoverished children in Georgia schools; --in response to stories like Massachusetts' Coelho Middle School cafeteria workers, who made children dump out the food from their trays without eating, because they had no money on their lunch accounts, and many similar stories springing up across the country recently-- The undersigned are disgusted and outraged. We see an alarming public trend of brutal contempt toward child hunger. We demand swift action by our representatives to condemn and counter such trends from overtaking institutions like public schools where our children are cared for and taught common values. Most of us do not know a single American family, rich or poor, who would take food from a hungry child to throw it in the trash. Many of us are old enough to have been told that wasting food was shameful and ungrateful when there were starving children in the world. Those who sign here will not allow our children or our neighbors' children to be treated with such abuse and contempt. We will not allow one-fifth of the nation's children to go hungry. Those who sign here refuse to accept the United States as a nation of children facing starvation. We will not accept that our common taxes support the profits of agricultural corporations, yet neglect the needs of the generation we are trying to raise.

I am the Veterans Services Coordinator at North Shore Community College. We currently have 14 Veterans enrolled in school under the VRAP program for the spring semester which ends 5/12/2014. Many of these veterans count on the VRAP to subsidize their living expenses while in school. If the VRAP payments stop mid-semester, it would put many of these veterans into an extreme financial hardship.

There are still disparities in access to safe Bicycle and Pedestrian infrastructure for low-income and people of color communities like mine across the country. For example, bicycling and walking make up 12% of all trips, but over 16% of all fatalities. The fatality rate for Hispanic bicyclists is 23% higher than for white bicyclists and 30% higher for African American bicyclists. 71% of people of color agree that safer bicycling would make their community better.

When I was 8 years old, because my father was convicted of a sex crime with 1 victim for events allegedly occurring 25 years earlier, for which my father served 22 months, and for which he was awarded a Certificate of Rehabilitation 10 years earlier than 2007, 1 year before I was even born in 1998, the government for the first time began widely publicly identifying my father as a sex offender through pamphlet mailings. This action destroyed my childhood, as the government was fully aware it would, and from the age of 8 thru 14 when I fled the country with my family, I suffered severe emotional abuse from such government actions. Huge numbers of other children of sex offenders are still going through the extreme emotional abuse I was put through, destroying their childhoods. This is not even counting the ~22,000 minors convicted every year of sex offenses, some of whom are as young as 7 years old, some convicted for offenses like playing doctor. Some logical and rational reasoning needs to be applied to this.
