  • US Rep Lois Capps: Vote Against Social Security Cuts
It is rumored that President Obama feels he must descend to pandering to certain Tea-Party-inspired demands to make cuts in Social Security, and other programs deemed "entitlements." This is outrageous, and we beg honest and brave legislators to fight against the very idea. I, like many millions, live on the Social Security check I paid into all my life. My taxes pay the Legislators' salaries, and they sit around and block relief and progress. WHO are the entitled?? This sick perception of our democratic republic must be cured. Vote NO on Social Security cuts and/or dismemberment.

  • No chained CPI for Social Security or Veterans' benefits
Why the urgency to cut into Social Security and veterans' benefits when so many Americans' rely on these benefits alone? The chained CPI will harm many Americans and weigh down many able to survive economically. Where are the cries to cut the most bloated budget of all, the military and DOD? Do we have cost overruns every year, year after year with Social Security---no--it's projected to run short in 20 years. In this day and age when the rich and corporations are not even paying taxes or the lowest ever and hiding their money in overseas accounts why don't we deal with what's really underlying our deficit--those that don't pay their fair share.

  • Jonathan Jarvis reverse the decision by the National Park Service to close Milford Beach and trai...
We live in Milford PA and are concerned about the economy of our town when essential recreational and public land is being shut down by the National Park Service, and agency that is directly under the Minister of the Interior, as a result of sequestration. The amount of money that is cut is marginal compared to the loss cuts loss of revenue to the town and surrounding areas. We urge Jonathan Jarvis to open his eyes to the consequences and find another, less pernicious place to save $250,000.

  • We Need Bold Solutions to MA Education & Transportation
Massachusetts has an historic opportunity to make a real investment in our schools, roads, and public transit in order to create good jobs and strengthen our communities. Yet this week, the legislature is faced with voting on an inadequate proposal. We can’t continue to kick the can down the road. Now is the time to be bold and address our aging trains and schools, our crumbling roads and bridges.

  • Don't desert your supporters!
Do not alter any part of Social Security except perhaps means testing. Some people depend on it for their basic necessities. Lowering it will bump them down to the poverty level.

  • President Obama: No Chained CPI!
Social Security is not driving the deficit, and therefore it should not be part of reforms aimed at cutting the deficit. Cutting benefits is opposed by an overwhelming majority of Americans. If the American people really wanted a president who would start to dismantle our Social Security system or cut Medicare benefits, it’d be Mitt Romney in office, not Barack Obama. President Obama should honor the trust we put in him when we elected him for a second term and protect Social Security and Medicare, not cut their benefits.

  • Rep. Butterfield, Save Medicare and Social Security!
As a senior, I worked 36 years and paid into Social Security and Medicare all those years, I am now almost 73 year old. I really do not need a Social Security or Medicare cut. This is not fair. I and a lot of people are depending on Social Security and Medicare to survive. I am asking all to rethink what will happen to seniors. We are barely surviving now. Mr. President you promised you would not change Social Security

  • President Obama: Why are you abandoning your constituency?
You made promises during your campaign concerning Social Security and Medicare. Yet now you say you are going to reduce benefits that we have already paid for. Over the past 6 years my "fixed" income has been reduced, and in 2012 it was reduced 4%. With your proposed cuts, should I purchase food or medication.
