Georgia Elected Officials Need to Stop Blocking Federal Assistance and PoliciesGeorgia is one of the states that lags behind other states in education, jobs, healthcare, and economic recovery in general. Governor Deal and other elected officials are preventing/refusing to implement all federal programs of assitance affiliated with President Obama's policies such as Obamacare, Medicare/Medicaid, Unemployment, Housing Subsidies,...and the list goes on. Stop blocking the help we need!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Larry Cornelius, Sr.

A Closer look at the MTAI think the governor and the Mayor need to take a closer look at the MTA operations. Instead of Governor Coumo going after LIPA for one incident his efforts will be better spent looking at the MTA. After 100 years of service it seems the MTA is still catching up instead of being a leader in the transportation industry. Constant delays, excessive construction projects going on at the same time, and some of these projects will not result in a better system but possibly another constraint on the already strained and ineffective system that is the MTA. 2/14/13 Update: On the news today (WNYC) there was more news on how ineffective and managed in the most wasteful way. the news program mention how the MTA had about 90 Million sitting in bank accounts with no purpose and not being used. It went one to imply that maybe the MTA didn't even know this money was there and available for use because those in charge of accountability are not doing their job! We all need to speak up and tell the Governor and Mayor to look at this organization more closely.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nicholas johnson

Georgeson Botanical Garden: Keep it Alive Another Year. The Georgeson Botanical Garden does not have funding to continue operations as usual. Although permanent funds are being sought, those would not be available until after 2014. Capital funds are needed in order to allow the gardens to continue operations. These funds will be used to provide two student summer interns and one winter intern, to continue to expand peony research plots and to continue to restructure the gardens to be lower maintenance in the future. The Garden provides not only valuable research and educational opportunities, but also is a highly valued public space for the residents of Fairbanks and visitors alike. The Gardens are a rich community resource that should be supported.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Georgeson Botanical Garden Society

Finalize I-5 bridge and light rail plans NOWMy petition seeks to get leaders in Washington State to finalize the approval and funding options for construction and financing of the I-5 replacement bridge over the Columbia River between Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. The finalization of construction plans has been stalled by local, backward thinking politics. This bridge and extension of light rail to Vancouver is essential for alleviating a major transportation bottleneck on the West Coast between Vancouver, BC and California. It is THE major thoroughfare for goods and movement of people. The need to move local traffic via light rail has been obvious for over a decade and is stalled by small town thinking. Time to move this on and get the state of Washington to enact legislation that approves this bridge and the expansion of public transportation options.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dina Roberts
