Rep. Watt: Sign the Grayson-Takano LetterRepresentatives Alan Grayson and Mark Takano released a letter to President Obama promising to "vote against any and every cut to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits." Within 2 days, the letter had more than a dozen cosigners, but to date, Rep. Mel Watt has not signed on. We want to know definitively that Rep. Watt will stand up against Republican efforts to cut the social safety net.49 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Janie Dough

Repeal Senate Bill 899 (SB899)Senate Bill 899 is not fair to injured workers. It gives the enployer the OPTION of approving or rejecting medical treatment for injured workers. This responsibility should be mandated back to the insurance company. It took 3 years for me to get treatment for an on the job injury. THE DOCTORS DON'T LIKE IT, THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION ATTORNEYS DON'T LIKE IT AND INJURED WORKERS DON'T LIKE IT EITHER, SO.HOW DID THIS BILL GET APPROVED?2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alzata Barnes

Dumb Sequester DealIt looks like Obama's really dropped the ball this time. The sequester agreement that would've gone into effect on Jan.1st protected SS, Medicaid and Medicare from cuts. In the 11th hour, he signed a temporary fix with another sequester agreement going into effect on Mar.1st that does not(!?!) It's time to raise holy hell with him, Congress and the Senate. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/13/sequester-entitlement-cuts_n_2677439.html15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by M.B. Hardy

Stop the War on Single MothersNo one questions the benefits of a happy, healthy marriage. However, the government should not be in the business of promoting something that should remain a personal choice of the individuals involved. Not only that, the government should not be in the position of choosing which man a mother will marry, which is exactly what these bills, initiatives, and resolutions propose to do. These women are encouraged to marry the fathers of their children over and above any other men who may be more appropriate and suitable for them. That fatherhood programs have dealt insufficiently with parenting, poverty, employment, and economic issues. Proper attention is not given to the fathers' personal histories, including addictions, history of incarceration for serious crimes, character defects, domestic violence and child abuse. These programs discriminate against mothers, especially poor mothers. They denigrate family forms outside that of the traditional, two-parent married household. In particular, single and divorced mother homes are debased by the dissemination of specious "fatherlessness" statistics84 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kimberly Wigglesworth
