Repeal GPO and WEP in OhioRepealing the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP). I have worked 27 years in the Social Security System and am approaching 20 years in the OPERS System. Upon retiring I find that I will be penalized in the Social Security System and not allowed to draw my full benefit that I worked and pain into. Furthermore I will be penalized by 2/3 if I choose to draw on my deceased Husband 's benefit, who worked and paid into the system for over 40 years. Because I have been the supportive spouse and worked for a low wage, just worked so we could provide a college education for our children, my pension will be cut substantially and I hope not at poverty level. For years now there have been Senate and House bills introduced to repeal this law but they never make it to the floor to be voted on, simply because of the battle over Social Security. This law is unfair and should be repealed. Ohio is one of eight states with that law. Many others will be affected and don't realize it. To name a few, Teachers who have spouses that work in Social Security, Public Servant workers with spoused in the Social Security. This law should be brought to the floor of both the House and Senate and repealed.515 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Pauline Chapman

Azusa Downtown Redevelopment PlanDear Azusa City Council: We cordially sign this petition to ask the Azusa City Council to create an Azusa Downtown plan with the following goals and then look for private investors to finance it in phases. 1. We want the Azusa Downtown to be a fun place to go to where people from all over the valley come to have fun that they cannot easily find in the cities around us. When people think of the city of Azusa, we want their first thoughts to be that it is a beautiful city and a fun place to go. 2. We don’t want our downtown to look like everyone else’s downtown. 3. We want the architecture to be beautiful, not ordinary. When you look at many of the old cities in Europe, they were beautiful when they were first built, they are beautiful today, and they will be beautiful in the future. If a plan is not beautiful, don’t build it. We don’t want an ugly suburbia look. We want a creative, vibrant and beautiful city. 4. We would like to see inexpensive live entertainment with many small venues that can offer small live theater, singing, comedians, etc. Giving people many live entertainment options will make the downtown a go to place to have fun. One thought to consider would be to put the entertainment in basements or on upper floors to help keep the costs down. Restaurants could be built on the main level, and artist loft apartments and/or professional offices could be built above everything else. The restaurants would work together with these venues to market together. We think that the Azusa Downtown will be a great place for this, especially when the Gold Line Extension has been completed. It is something that other cities in the area don’t really specialize in and we feel that we can provide that niche. 5. We would like to have at least one restaurant that offers dancing. And at least one restaurant that offers outdoor seating. Thank you for considering our request.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Azusa Downtown

Extend the Las Vegas monorail systemThe Las Vegas monorail was a great idea that because of political pressures wasn't implemented to its full potential. In its current form the system doesn't service visitors effectively, because it doesn't go to the airport or downtown. Expanding the system would create jobs for a state with the highest unemployment rate in the country and transform the current system into a viable, effective system that would serve the needs of transporting Las Vegas visitors and provide a hub for future expansion to the rest of the Las Vegas valley.211 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Safbom

Pension Fix Must Not Harm RetireesAs a retired State Employee, I'm very concerned with the proposals being kicked around by the State Legislature concerning the "pension problem" in Illinois... The State is not even considering adding additional revenue to help solve this mess that was created by years of revenue shortfalls ... State workers and retirees should not be made to suffer for the mistakes of the past made by our elected officials...10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bill Sarto
