Fairest, Fastest Social Security FixFairest Social Security "Fix" The fairest Social Security Fix is to remove the annual income cap on contributions from wages & salaries. Washington analysts state there is more Congressional support for raising the retirement age and changing to the CPI than for making all Americans contribute to Social Security 12 months of the year.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cheryl Hahne

Protect Homeless FamiliesEvery day homeless families flood the offices of advocacy organizations, trying to find shelter. Last year a change in regulations has led to more than 70% of the homeless families who apply for shelter being turned away. We cannot allow families to to suffer!1,143 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by michaelann bewsee

New Hampshire could save money if they used common senseThe elderly and disabled should only reapply for food stamps once a year. Look at the waste of time and paper work in a years time that would be saved by the state. Due to hospital appoinments I have to start applying all over again, because I do not have transportation and live about 15 miles from town. (I am going on 64 years old.)2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Burt

Upgrade Our Nation's Electrical Grid System to Avert Possible Long Term OutagesI would like to initiate a petition to have the federal government design and implement a plan to upgrade our nation’s electrical grid system to be safeguarded from possible solar storms or electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attacks. In such a scenario large portions of the country's electrical grid could be knocked out for an extended period of time and unprotected electronic devices would be destroyed. A federal commission was put together in 2001 to assess the possible damage in the case of such an event and the overview of their 2004 executive report was titled “EMP is capable of causing catastrophe for the nation.” As the media are currently propagating such a threat through the news and other programming I suggest we begin safeguarding our nation from such a catastrophe as soon as possible.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kenneth Lizano

Get Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors the SSD Benefits they DeserveAs it is now breast cancer patients have to wait upwards of three years for a hearing to get the SSD benefits they s Deserve. My mother is losing her home because SSD denied her benefits for the 12 months she was undergoing chemo treatment and her mastectomy. If we don't do something more women with breast cancer or survivors of breast cancer will lose money to pay bills in the time they are unable to work and eventually they will lose their homes. I would like to get at least 40,000 signatures or more by next year. Let's get the word out and let's make a change to the system for the better. Take care everyone!352 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Jesse Azzopardi

Stop a Busway That Will Cripple Rail ServiceFaster, affordable, convenient rail service is within our reach in the Northeast. The Amtrak rail line from New Haven to Hartford, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Canada is being improved for high speed commuter rail and faster intercity trains. But in Connecticut, an insanely stupid busway project, the New Britain-Hartford Busway, is being built on the rail line, paving over the rail right of way that is needed for better rail service. The busway will cripple this improved rail service. Two transportation projects costing hundreds of millions of dollars -- and one of them harms the other. The busway MUST be stopped.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Molly McKay

Reduce Speed Limit to 25mph on N. Ellis St. in Salisbury, NCCity Council is urged to reduce N. Ellis Street's speed limit from 35mph to 25mph from W. Cemetery Street to Lake Drive. Lowering the speed limit would make it the same as that on the remainder of the street stretching south from Shober Bridge to Salisbury High School. Neighbors are concerned for the safety of children who regularly play in and around the street and also desire to reduce speeding in general throughout our neighborhood.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Doug Robinson

No giving, no gettingWe have seen many people are take the advantage from the US social security system. Too many people who or whose spouse never paid a single penny to the social security, but they are get big chuck of social security, plus food stamps, plus medicare, plus housing. No wonder our social security is broken. Social security and other benefits should be only paid to those who or whose spouse has contributed to this society.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by james

Legislation for traumatic homeless veterans and childrenPeople should be concerned about the issue of homeless veterans and children. We need our legislators to amend H.R. 1560, Public Safety Second Amend Rights Protection act of 2013. Example: My father served in Korea and Vietnam War. My mother was pregnant during that time, and inheritance rights were denied, even though I was his only child and he was inducted and died while on active duty. Today, deceased veterans' children cannot qualify for VA housing eligibility. Our legislators still have not served this underserved population in spite of our trauma and the need for housing and care deserved. There are too many homeless veterans and children, many still in developmental stages. Death of a family member is traumatic, and vulnerable people need protection.74 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rashidah Ali

I Support Medicaid Expansion For Texas!Lt. Governor David Dewhurst recently declared that in his opinion expanding Medicaid is "off the table." That is unacceptable. Expanding Medicaid would help over 1 million Texans gain insurance, allow hospital districts and counties to experience new financial and social benefits, and bring billions of dollars into Texas communities. Texas researchers projected that expanding Medicaid would be an economic windfall for our state, bringing 6 billion dollars into Texas between 2014 and 2017. This is enough money to pay for nearly 90,000 nurses or more than 33,200 family doctors, serving as a huge economic stimulus for our state. Texans must come together to declare their support of Medicaid expansion—an opportunity to cover all of our state’s uninsured citizens who earn up to 138% of the federal poverty level. Tell your Texas legislator right now that Texas and its residents need this solution and call on their public support to expand Medicaid today.8,647 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Glazer
