    I'm getting $60 more per month taken from my paycheck now that the relief expired on Jan 1 2013 and in this economy, with prices rising and salaries stagnant, the extra should be made up by those who are more able to take the hit.

    San Francisco has an unofficial, unwritten policy to allow church members to double park all over the city. This occurs not just on Sunday but on Wednesday night and in some cases on Saturday. The same rights are not granted to non-religious gatherings.

    I have watched as both parties in Congress, and our president, use the money taken from the paychecks of all working Americans as a bargaining chip in political battles. This needs to stop. This fund was instituted to provide a needed cushion to senior citizens and disabled citizens. It should be immune to being plundered by politicians for other causes. These funds belong to the American people, not the politicians for their political maneuvering.

    During this past Summer, Metro implemented a 'new rush' schedule which eliminated most of the Blue Line service and increased the Orange Line service. The public needs more Blue Line service in order to reach such destinations as Foggy Bottom/GW University/GW Hospital, Farragut West, Arlington Cemetery, Ronald Reagan Airport, The Pentagon and Pengaton City Mall all of which are on the Blue Line, some are popular tourist attractions. We need this service returned.

    Social Security and Medicare are not ENTITLEMENTS. Workers have paid into the funds all of their working lives, and the money goes into a separate fund. Medicaid is for people who have fallen on hard times and need the basics to survive.

  • Do not raise the Medicare eligibility age-it's BAD Arithmetic!
    Want to start a real generational war? Then keep bringing up the solution to Medicare funding that does not add up. The Kaiser Family Foundation did the math, raising the medicare eligibility age to 67 will save the government 5.7 billion but would end up costing every citizen and state and federal government 11.4 billion! Raising the Medicare eligibility age instead of focusing on the speculative COST of health care is bad for everyone's health!

    Working in social services for over 22 years, I have watched programs for the poor and mentally ill lose funding and support. It is devastating to watch the poor and mentally ill lose the ability to be served. I have also watched how some people's desire for individual freedoms appear to trump the freedoms of the masses. Gun ownership is one of these individual freedoms that has many times impacted the freedoms of the masses. We witness this everyday in the violence we see and hear about. When we take care of those who cannot take care of themselves, we celebrate the freedoms of everyone.
