This petition was started because repeated requests to HUD to relocate the family have been ignored coupled with the landlord's refusal to stop victimizing the family.

Los Angeles faces a severe deficit of public park space and natural habitats - that is space and place for nature to unfold, and for people to take in the sun and moon, and for children to play. We also face a health crises of obesity and stress, much of which can be traced to lack of time in nature & access to parks. In the next few years the Silver Lake Reservoir will go off line and be turned from the DWP's control to the city. This is the moment when Silver Lake will need a refined, overarching, publicly vetted plan for how to receive and interpret the reservoir space. There are old plans which were worked out many years ago about which very few know anything at all. These plans may not include Watershed, natural habitats, fish/bird/wildlife sanctuary, swimming, sailing or hiking. Without a modern, publicly vetted plan in place, we risk a least common denominator solution like sale for development, or continued closure to the public.

Social security taxes are currently applied to only the first $113,000 of earnings. That means that anyone who earns more than that pays a lower tax rate than the rest of us. Why should millionaires like Warren Buffet pay no social security tax on the billions of dollars he makes above the first $113,000, giving him an effective social security tax rate of practically zero? Lifting the income cap on social security taxes would instantly improve the financial health of the system, without cutting benefits for those who have been paying into the system their whole lives, and depend upon it to avoid poverty in their old age.

We, the people of the state of Wisconsin wish to hold Rep. Paul Ryan responsible for his unconscionable vote against Superstorm Sandy disaster relief and flood insurance even though he wanted Gov. Doyle to seek federal disaster relief funds for the flooding in 2008. He was elected to represent the people of Wisconsin, he does not represent me.

President Obama promised the victems of huricane Sandy relief funds. He also promised the victems would not have to jummp through any "red tape". Niether promise has been upheld. They need their funding and they need it now. Please sign this petition.

By allowing us to invest in education, innovation and infrastructure, The Act to Invest in Our Communities proposal builds on our state's strengths, making life better for our families today and into the future. By asking more from high income households and investors who received large windfalls from the Bush tax cuts, while raising the personal exemption as a way to hold down the tax increase for middle-class families, the bill raises needed revenue primarily from those who can best afford to pay. With that revenue, we can keep the quality schools and services that make our state a good place to live and do business.
