• Save the Federal TRiO Programs (for low income Americans)
With the pending cuts to discretionary funding, the federal TRiO Programs (born out of the civil rights movement of the 1960s) is extremely vulnerable. Thousands of low income students of all ages, veterans, and citizens across the country stand to lose these vital academic support services, and already over 40,000 Americans have lost these services. Please sign to protect the TRIO programs from further cuts and possible elimination.

  • HPNAP FUNDING AT RISK
On January 22 Govenor Cuomo proposed a decrease in funding and a major restructuring of NYS Heath and Anti-hunger programs. Cuomo has proposed a $13 million overall cut, which would remove the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP). This would result in a decrease to ALL emergency food cupboards/agencies. HPNAP Is a crucial source of food and funds for thousands of food pantries, soup kitchens and SHELTERS across the state. Most Emergency Food Pantries won't be able to sustain enough food and NYS produce to provide for their communities if this proposal isn't stopped. Maybe your community is doing well financially and this isn't as urgent for them, but please take the time and sign for the communities and families that need these programs to survive.

  • Wait List Priority for Seniors/People with Disabilites who live in Mentally and/or Physically Abu...
Due to not enough housing available for the older adult population, I have been on wait lists for the past 2 years for affordable housing. I have been recently been declared disabled and live in a mentally abusive, possibly physically abusive situation. I have tried contacting every agency available in Linn/Benton county to advocate for me to get into housing sooner on wait lists due to my living situation. There are no agencies or laws to intervene in this matter. Even after letters from health care professionals and personal mental therapists relaying how unhealthy my living situation is - these have been cast aside and have no weight in this matter. I'm am STILL living in fear of not knowing what will happen next? I am sure there are others, like myself, in this type of situation. There should be exceptions on housing wait lists for those of us who are living with the same adversities.

  • Take care of our Elderly
Many of Our Elderly are Existing in Poverty and our Government don't care. They want our Elderly to just die. _________________________________________________ Take care of our Elderly. They took care of you when you could not take care of yourself. Now it is your time to take care of them. They are "The Least Among Us". Increase their Social Security checks, so they can live out the rest of their life's with dignity. No one can live of $900 - $1200 per month. 60 - 70 percent of our elderly exist in poverty. The cost of a room in an assisted living facility starts at about $3500 + ++ per month. Our Elderly can't afford that and thousands of them don't have Medicaid to pay for it, so they exist in poverty and die alone. ALL of our elderly should qualify for Medicaid or Medicare should cover the cost for our Elderly.
