• House Representative Bohener: Release Sandy Relief Funds Now
I have volunteered in Far Rockaway and Coney Island after hurricane Sandy destroyed many homes in these areas, over two months ago. I saw the devastation first hand. It has been over 2 months and 11,000 people still don't have food, water, electricity and heat. They are living in houses infested with mold. Temperatures have dropped to subfreezing. Why is the money for Sandy relief still being withheld?

  • Cut Defense NOT Social Security and Social Programs
Do not make seniors, future retirees, middle class and less fortunate citizens pay the national debt while defense contracting corporations and their paid members of government get richer. The "Military Industrial Complex" must be secondary to ordinary citizens. Unfunded wars must end. World wide military bases must be closed. The US should stop being the worlds biggest supplier of killing war materials. Bring our boys and money home. Put the 99% of Americans first.

  • Medicar:paid for not an entitlement
Congress wants to cut Medicare "entitlements." I have paid into Medicare since it started in 1965. When I reached age 65 in 2012, I had $99.10 per month deducted from my Social Security check for Medicare. This year it went up to $104.90 per month. We paid for Medicare while working, and continue to pay, it is not a gift. Medicare cuts should be stopped.

  • Save Social Security by raising the cap.
Social Security is a successful program that needs to be preserved. Those with an income of over $110,000 are paying a smaller percentage of their income into Social Security than the rest of us. If we raise the cap so that everyone pays a more equal share, we can preserve this much needed system for now and future generations.

  • Drug Test Mandatory for Welfare
We as employeed citizens must be drug tested for most employment opportunties; therefore all of those receiving aid from the government should be drug tested as well to ensure their money is used wisely.

  • Pennsylvania Pensions for retired school employees
My husband and I are both former school employees and were promised a decent pension after retirement. At this point, we have not received a COLA for ten years. Medical expenses and many other items have increased in price so we cannot purchase what we used to. In the meantime the legislature have seemed to enjoy their COLA but have done nothing to help their former teachers, etc. How about looking into this to see what can be done.

  • Mayor Pontieri: We need a new crosswalk in Patchogue!
Patchogue is a safe walking village, with crosswalks at all the proper locations. But ever since the new Tritec construction site went up, there is no longer a safe way to cross from the east side of South Ocean Avenue (Del Fiore's Deli) to the start of Lake Street (at Reese's Pub). My wife and I have tried this in the early evening with our baby in a stroller, and I literally had to stop traffic to let them cross safely.

I have been affected in 2004 and 2007 with cancer. I went through chemo. I have a list of other health issues. I think it is unfair to be taken off ssi disability. Especially after working and paying taxes prior to my cancer. I have no job, cant work, and no way to pay bills. This is unfair especially when you have or have had cancer and have other health issues as well.

  • Don't let Congress scrap Hurricane Sandy Relief
Last night, House Republican leadership scrapped $60 billion in relief for Hurricane Sandy's victims. At the last minute. With no explanation. This bill will help repair thousands of homes in New York and across the region. It will rebuild damaged roads and bridges. And it will help displaced families get their lives back together. Disaster relief is the federal government's responsibility, whether the disaster happens in New York or New Orleans. It's time Congress acted responsibly.

  • Airports and Transportation
Please ask the officials of the Greater Los Angles County and Los Angeles representatives to excel and speed up building new rail system directly To/From major Los Angles County airports, especially LAX. Also provide ONE new car rental location for all car rental companies, which is similar in other U.S major cities. Los Angeles is so behind in this type of infrastructure. Both infrastructures will reduce pollution, congestions, and provide more local jobs.

  • Restructure The Criminal system?
Our currently criminal system is BROKEN!!! It costs us upto $50,000 to keep a criminal incarsirated while the maximum Social Security payment is $30,156. Congress is attacking Social Security to people who payed into the system all their lives expecting to get back what they deserve while criminals who have broken laws are getting almost twice as much.
