Stop Wake County Human Services from illegal acts of housing discrimination in violation of the F...TO STOP STRIPPING ONES OF LEGAL AUTONOMY BECAUSE ONES WOULD NOT SETTLE THEIR LAWSUITS OF DISCRIMINATION(I established a Prima Facie case after a cross examination on "WCHS" and they lost a motion to dismiss. IN VIOLATION OF THE "FHAA" OF 1988. AND TO STOP TAKING GUARDIANSHIP FROM GREAT PARENTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO HOUSING FOR THEIR LOVED ONE "AFTER" HE OR SHE WAS EXCLUDED FROM HOUSING BY WAKE COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES., ASSISTANT HOUSING DIRECTOR, WANDA TEEL WHO PERFORMED THESE ILLEGAL ACTS TOWARDS MY SON AND I. AND TO STOP PLACING OUR LOVED ONES IN BAD GROUP HOMES OF SERIOUS A1 NEGLECT CHARGES WITH STAFF MEMBERS WHO ARE EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE AND MORE TOWARDS THE RESIDENTS. NO DEADLINE. My son and I are victims of housing discrimination, in violation of the FHAA of 1988. The Wake County Human Services in Raleigh, NC Assistant Housing Direcor, Wanda Teel made housing unavailable for my son who has mental illness. This illegal act lead to my losing the Guardianship because I had no housing for him. I have always been commended as being over 200% supportive from all who have know us, including Doctors, Social Workers, Therapist, etc. She also denied 2 reasonable accommodation requests to add the son to the housing lease, although I signed rules to a new program that stated that a participant can request a change in family composition. "WCHS" wanted me to sign into a new program that would further keep him out of the housing. "WCHS" wanted me to sign the forms that would keep him out of the housing. She wantedme to sign without allowing me to see the new rules. This was stated in the cross examination, contributing to "WCHS" motioning to dismiss this case. I won my motion for preliminary injunction pending trial while "WCHS" lost their motion to dismiss. There never came to be a be a trial as Atty. Abraham Jones came in the picture to get the case settled against my will. He became a GAL only for the settling of the case as I am not and have never been adjudicated as being incompetent or incapacitated, thus I lost LEGAL AUTONOMY because I would not settle on the terms of "WCHS". I was harassed by my Attorney(Who cross examined "WCHS") for several months and then she arranged to have Atty. Jones(A former Wake County Judge of 18 years) to come into the case to settle it against my will. After housing was made unavailable, my Guardianship was taken from me because I had no place for him to live. The Public Guardian who had the son placed in 2 bad homes, had not been heard of for over one year and one half. It is the second time that he had my son placed in terrible homes of complaints that became substantiated by "DHHS My son is currentlyi in a bad group home which currently had a bed bug infestion in which these pests were found in every living space of the facility except the kitchen and it was infested with roaches and they were found in every living space except the kitchen and it was found to have German Roaches that were found in the kitchen, infesting areas where food and food supplies were stored. The Nigerian Staff Licensee told her Nigerian Staff NOT to give the son medications as authorized by a Medical Professional. In another report of substantiation, the Nigerian Staff DID NOT give my son medications as authorized by a medical professional and in another report, the staff gave meds that WERE NOT AUTHORIZED BY a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Denise Newton Fitzpatrick

We breath the same air!Ron Johnson uses the logic that "most of our air pollution comes from Chicago so why should Wisconsin businesses be penalized?" In other words if your neighbor throws his trash on his front lawn and it blows onto your property, the solution is that you start throwing your trash on your own front lawn as well? This is nuts!!! But unfortunately people buy into this crazy logic so we must be the keeper of sanity and denounce this as what it is: Greed at the expense of the air we all—even Republicans—breathe.72 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John

End Fascism, Now and ForeverCongress is passing laws restricting and holding back LGBT rights, as well as the simple rights of workers across America. Immigration is what founded our country, and we're restricting talented people into our country that we see everyday doing jobs that none of us would do. We don't need another 1939 Hitler regime in the supposedly free America.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christian Garza

Governor Abbott: Do something about the toxic levels of lead in Ranger, TXAs a Texan and a mother, I am personally affected every time someone drinks poisonous water in my state. As an American, I have been appalled by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. We are, all across the country, dealing with contamination issues with our drinking water due to the aging infrastructure our governments refuse to repair. Anti-anti-discrimination bills, bathroom policy debates, and the creation of MORE corporate wealth should be lower priorities than creating safe drinking water systems for all citizens. I am tired of Republicans wasting legislative time and tax payer dollars on distractions and want them to start making our Pipes Great Again. Deliver on SOMETHING positive that helps everyone for a change.162 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Scarlett Pope

Hate has no place in the US ArmyThe United States Army is an amazing microcosm of our nation. Men and women of all faiths, sexual orientations, and races serve side-by-side with dignity and honor, protecting our nation. Unfortunately, Donald Trump’s new pick to be Secretary of the Army could change all that. Our country is stronger and safer when our military reflects our diversity, and when its leaders respect and support all of our soldiers and all Americans. Tennessee State Senator Mark Green, Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the Army, is no such leader. Mark Green has built a political career on hate directed at LGBTQ people, women, Muslims, immigrants and refugees. That's why we're fighting back. Sen. Green represents one of the hardest lines of Trump’s hardliners. He believes that being “transgender is a disease,” [1] as a physician, he argued that he has a right to deny women birth control because of his religious beliefs, [2] he filed state legislation that would threaten funding for sanctuary cities, [3] and he wants to block Syrian refugees from being welcomed in Tennessee. [4] We cannot allow this hateful vision to be the beating heart of our Army. President Obama appointed the first openly gay Army Secretary and now we must not let Donald Trump replace him with an anti-LGBTQ extremist. Sen. Mark Green’s nomination is an attack on our values as Americans, and our shared belief that all people are deserving of equality, dignity, respect, and tolerance. The ability to love whom you choose, worship how you choose, and live your life without fear of violence and discrimination are at the heart of what will make America great and safe. Confirming Mark Green would send the absolute wrong message to the men and women of the US Army, and to the rest of the world. Today’s protections for all Americans serving in uniform were won over time through amazing and committed activism in defense of civil rights. Today’s Army deserves a leader who will move us forward, not backward and who will unite us, not divide us. Mark Green has simply shown that he can’t do that. Join @SenToddYoung: Call on Saudi Arabia Not to Attack HodeidaOn Wednesday, April 19, Indiana Senator Todd Young welcomed [1] Defense Secretary Mattis' call [2] for a political solution to the conflict in Yemen without delay. Sen. Young called on Saudi Arabia to: - refrain from bombing the port of Hodeida, through which a majority of food, fuel, and medical supplies enters Yemen - a military attack that closed the port would likely result in a famine within a few months; - reform its inspection regime at Hodeida to eliminate unacceptable delays in the delivery of severely needed humanitarian supplies; - facilitate the delivery of U.S.-funded World Food Program cranes to the port of Hodeida that would dramatically increase the port’s humanitarian aid capacity. [3] Urge Members of Congress to join Senator Young's call on Saudi Arabia not to attack Hodeida by signing our petition. The ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017H.R. 620 and similar ADA notification bills are gaining more steam in Congress than ever before. As a person with a disability and one who advocates for the rights of others with disabilities, I see businesses conveniently ignoring their legal obligations to undertake readily achievable barrier removal at facilities existing before passage of the 1990 ADA. This bill and others similar will force a person with a disability to write a complaint letter to the business with detailed analyses of the issues, which section of the code is violated and the correct citations, wait 30 days for a response and give a business 60 days to correct an issue before a suit can be filed. A person with a disability can also be countersued for enforcing their civil rights if they don't follow the prescribed protocols. Businesses and public accommodations have had 27 years to come in to compliance with federal law. The ADA has provided for free public education and technical assistance through the U.S. Dept of Justice Office of Civil Rights and 10 federally funded regional ADA centers since its passage. There is nothing in the proposed legislation that recognizes what is currently available to help businesses. Nor is more funding being allocated for such outreach to be improved upon. As such, the "Education" part of this bill's title is totally bogus. Please counter the business lobby, which wants to make it much more difficult to attain accessibility when businesses such as stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. disregard their ADA responsibilities. Highlights of H.R. 620: Removes any incentive for voluntary compliance. Requires a person with a disability who encounters an access barrier to send a letter detailing the exact ADA provisions that are being violated. Rewards non-compliance by allowing businesses generous additional timelines, even though the ADA's reasonable requirements are already over 25 years old! Perpetuates the myth that the ADA benefits unscrupulous lawyers rather than the truth: that the ADA is the most important civil rights law for people with disabilities. Ignores the extensive, free educational resources already available today to any business on how to comply with the law. Tell your Congressional Representative to OPPOSE H.R. 620, and any other bill to weaken the ADA! Express the concerns listed above. See the Additional Resources for more information. Congress Members are on recess this week, but many of their staff are still in D.C. to get your messages. Let's all contact them this week, so when the Members return, their staff will tell them they've heard from hundreds of people! Also, the House Judiciary Committee could consider this bill as soon as the last week of April. If it passes, it may go very quickly to the full House for a vote—so the entire House needs to hear from us, starting immediately and for the next few weeks! What to do: Go to contactingcongress.org and insert your zip code to find many simple methods for contacting your House representative: via e-mail, phone, Facebook, Twitter, fax, etc. Call your House of Representatives Member using the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. They will help you find your Representative's name if you don't know it, and switch you to your Representative's office. If you know your Representative's name, here is the House of Representatives phone list. Extra urgent, if your Representative is on the Judiciary Committee: If your Congressional representative, or any Representative from your state, serves on the House Judiciary Committee, it is especially important to contact them ASAP, because this Committee will vote on the bill first. See a full list of Committee members. Town Halls this week: Members of Congress are in their home districts this week. Many will be at Town Halls or other public events where you can ask them to oppose H.R. 620, and say why. To find local events, try townhallproject.com. Or, check your Representative's website or call their local district office; see contactingcongress.org. Rep. Denham: Represent the Central Valley, not President TrumpPresident Trump issues his budget proposal earlier this year. The budget would be devastating to countless governmental programs and communities, including here in the Central Valley. The proposals would get funding for clean air and water and public television, eliminate programs like Meals on Wheels and the National Endowment for the Arts. We deserve a budget that represents us not just the rich. We need Rep. Denham to oppose the Trump budget now.49 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Stergalas

Rep. Denham: Oppose any repeal of the Affordable Care ActThe Republican health care bill that House Republicans and President Trump pushed earlier this year was dangerous for people, but now Republicans are talking about making it even worse. Instead of working together to make a better health care system and building upon the Affordable Care Act, they’re giving into demands of the extreme right to give insurance companies more power, and making health care costs even higher for working people.80 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Stergalas
