Congress has narrowly passed the decision to repeal Obamacare, and now the Senate will pass or deny that decision. As a member of the Senate, I am urging Lisa Murkowski to stop this repeal. I am a user of the healthcare system, and do not wish to lose coverage, as such a loss would be detrimental to my long-term health and livelihood if I were to be injured. If Congress wants to show that this healthcare plan is better, than they can lead by example by using it themselves.

Trumpcare, the AHCA, threatens the healthcare of millions of people with Pre-Existing Conditions and will eliminate healthcare coverage for over 24 Million people. The Affordable Care Act can be made stronger by bipartisan Congressional action to improve the Individual Marketplaces.

As a small business owner and someone past middle age, I won't be able to insure myself and my daughter when the premiums increase. A nation of sick people who can't work is not cost effective.

Dear Senator: Coverage for people with pre-existing conditions: Is this not a reason to keep the law in place?" Pregnancy is a pre-existing conditon. What about impotence? Women seem to be a major target in repealing the ACA (Obamacare). It is not perfect, and insurance and pharmeceutical companies got a larger piece of the pie than necessary. However, the House's repeal means less coverage and potentially more foreclosures, among other problems. Senators and Representatives have healthcare for life. Why can't we repeal that? We urge you to vote no on the HB repeal.

I recently got major surgery which my doctor told me was necessary to prevent cancer. I have insurance only because of the Affordable Care Act. Due to a pre-existing condition, I have never been able to get insurance coverage before, so the Affordable Care Act effectively prevented me from becoming a cancer patient.

Trump and all but 20 Republicans just pushed through an awful bill that would strip healthcare coverage from 10s of millions of Americans, scrap protections for the most vulnerable, and cost Americans thousands more per year while sopping more money on the wealthy. The election of Donald Trump has in part been seen as a failure of the news media. There has never been a more critical time for Americans to learn the truth about his blatant conflicts of interest, his dangerous foreign policy, his willful ignorance about government, and the truth about his campaign's role in the Russian hacking of our election. I cannot fulfill my role as an informed citizen participating in making our government serve the people rather than the rich and the corporations without being informed about domestic and foreign policy. MSNBC is my primary source of being so informed.

Tacoma City Council, 1. Adopt a Sanctuary City Resolution: Codify into Tacoma City ordinance that police officers will not act as defacto immigration agents, that City employees refrain from performing duties from the Department of Homeland Security, and that the City will not cooperate or assist with any unconstitutional or illegal registration or surveillance programs targeted at any immigrants in Tacoma. 2. Continue to block any expansion of the Northwest Detention Center or any private correctional facilities across the City of Tacoma. If necessary, legislate changes to the City code to ensure this is enforced. With Trump’s expansion to the deportation machine, our City needs to be proactive to prevent the detention of undocumented immigrants. 3. Create a legal defense fund for undocumented immigrants who currently do not have a right to legal representation in immigration proceedings even though the federal government is legally represented throughout the process. Legal representation will ensure that immigrants are 10.5 times more likely to remain in their community. 4. Initiate the Immigrant and Refugee Task Force to address issues facing undocumented immigrants living and working in our City. This task force should include include diverse representation of immigrants, undocumented immigrants, refugees, and LGBTQ, labor, educators, faith, and ally community leaders.

The company behind Keystone XL wants to build a fracked-gas pipeline through Western Maryland. If built, the Eastern Panhandle Expansion project would transport fracked gas from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, crossing through Maryland and under the Potomac River and the C&O Canal along the way. More than 6 million people get their drinking water from the Potomac River, and this pipeline project would jeopardize the quality of the water they depend on. Governor Hogan recently signed the statewide ban on fracking into law, and now he has the chance to protect the drinking water for millions of Marylanders again by denying the Clean Water Act certification that is required for this pipeline to move forward. Urge him to deny the Eastern Panhandle Expansion project's 401 Water Quality Certificate.
