Gag orders on government agencies hamper the important work that needs to be done. It keeps these agencies from working together, from sharing information with the American public, and destroys transparency necessary in a true democracy. It is UnAmerican and goes against our first amendment right to free speech. The president is creating a fascist regime that must be stopped.

Stopping refugee resettlement, for any period of time for any group of people, would undermine our nation’s founding principles of being a beacon of freedom and hope. An announcement restricting access to resettlement from primarily Muslim countries is tantamount to the Muslim ban that President Trump threatened during his campaign. This is a clear case of discrimination based on religion and nationality and must be decried as such. This is a program that saves hundreds of lives every day, and strengthens our communities and our nation. Stopping refugee resettlement will have profound and detrimental consequences. Lives will be lost and our national interests and security will be at risk. The United States can – and must – continue to welcome refugees while continuing to ensure our own security. Our history has proven you don’t need to make a choice, and we should continue to do both. We urge President Trump to not stop refugee resettlement for any period of time, lower the amount of refugees we resettle, or stop resettlement based on religion or country of origin.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign executive orders to ban on refugees and a suspension of visas for refugees and immigrants from African countries including Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Sudan. To block entry from the designated countries, Trump is likely to instruct the US State Department to stop issuing visas to people from those African nations. Our brothers and sisters are escaping from civil wars and dictatorship, and yet the new administration is working hard to prevent them from seeking sanctuary in the United States. Please help us stop the President's inhumane action from happening!!

We call upon our Senator to question, vet and be prepare to reject those who are unfit to represent the American People as cabinet members. Repealing ACA without a sound and fair replacement is reprehensible. Congress and the House of Representatives must stop politicizing health care, too many lives are at stake. Hultgren must take a stand to save lives.

The current social and political climate is turbulent, to say the least. There are many questions, accusations, and attacks happening all over our great nation. Many people feel powerless, ignored, and betrayed. Others feel emboldened to continue ideologies of intolerance. I am posing this question with a deep respect for the constitution its powers, and our democracy.

The Supreme Court and the people of the United States have chosen to protect a woman's right to make reproductive choices about her own body, including obtaining safe and affordable abortion. It may not be an optimal choice, but it is her choice, and only hers to make. H.R.7 - No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017 deliberately prohibits a woman's ability to exercise her right safely and affdordably. This is a politically motivated bill which intentionally undermines safe access to abortion and health care by poor and middle class women, and is a clear example of gender discrimination. Women's rights are human rights and this bill violates both, and should not be passed.

Crescent Elementary should not be shut down. Crescent is NOT a failing school. Though Crescent is part of the Council Bluffs Community School District, it is an independent township and should be considered with exceptional treatment. Closure could hinder economic growth in our small town, as the school is a huge incentive for new families to move and stay in Crescent. It's been a part of our town's identity since 1901. The superintendent intends to have former Crescent students bused, as far as 7 miles, to influx Lewis and Clark Elementary's student body with 44% more students. The school board should consider finding other options to help improve enrollment to meet their acceptable attendance standards, as this is the reason they are voting to shutter the doors. The Iowa Department of Education's School Report Card rated Crescent as "Commendable". The school building had a complete renovation in 2007. Crescent IS an outstanding school, a National Blue Ribbon Award winner and should remain open.

Americans deserve, and largely have, elections systems that are safe & accurate. There’s always room for improvement -- and we’re working to ensure that all states implement reforms ensuring the fairness and accessibility of the franchise -- but it doesn’t help to spread lies that undermine confidence in our democracy and pave the way for voter suppression. That’s why it’s so alarming that, according to the New York Times, President Trump “asserted that between three million and five million unauthorized immigrants voted for Mrs. Clinton” at a meeting with Congressional leaders. The Times continues, “Voting officials across the country have said there is virtually no evidence of people voting illegally, and certainly not millions of them.” It’s more than just “alternative facts” -- there are no facts at all that support what President Trump is saying. As President, Trump should be working to improve our elections systems -- not telling lies that undermine confidence in them. And this lie should worry you more than most: because lawmakers have invoked the myths Trump is pushing to justify a wave of voter suppression laws in states across the nation. With Trump now threatening to use his presidency to crack down on this -- we could soon see nationwide voter suppression efforts. Between this and his nomination of lifelong voting rights foe Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, we must stand vigilant against any attempts by the Trump Administration to limit our right to vote. We expect and demand better from our leaders at the top. That’s why it’s so important to call out Donald Trump’s election lies for what they are. In a time when so many Americans are finding it more and more difficult just to make ends meet, the last thing we need in New Hampshire are right to work laws designed to silence our voices on the job, and make it harder to keep the lights on. But that’s exactly what extremist Republicans in our state along with corporate lobbyists and special interest groups are trying to do. This dangerous legislation will cut our wages and benefits and making our workplaces less safe.
