Social Security and Medicare did not break the budget; careless handling by the government is what depleted the Social Security Trust Fund. Now the government is attempting to further impoverish beneficiaries to correct the deficit instead. They should just plain put the money back into the trust fund that the government borrowed. We are aware that President George Bush did borrow against the Social Security Trust Fund surplus to pay for the tax cut to the rich and fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the bonds are due to be paid back in year 2020. Rocky Mountain Power is trying to dramatically increase the cost of electricity for Utahns who want to power their homes with solar energy. It has proposed new charges on consumers who choose to install solar that: - Would be bad for business and will kill thousands of solar jobs in Utah. - Unfairly punishes consumers who are trying to save money by using less power - Would allow Rocky Mountain Power to take advantage of its monopoly by eliminating consumer choice, energy independence and a consumer’s ability to do what they wish on their roof tops. The proposal by Rocky Mountain Power is the most aggressive, anti-consumer, anti-competitive and anti-solar proposal ever made by a utility in the United States.

The president elect is rapidly putting together a team of people whose views and positions stand in stark contrast to the majority of the country. It has a news section called “Black Crime.” After the massacre of African American churchgoers in Charleston, it promoted flying the Confederate flag as a symbol of “glorious heritage.” The outburst of hate speech and attacks on women, immigrants, African Americans, Muslims, and so many others, is a direct consequence of a Trump campaign that embraced Steve Bannon's extreme and hateful worldview. It has been nearly four months since the murder of my cousin Jay Anderson Jr. We have yet to receive any REAL answers from our elected D.A. John Chisholm or the Wauwatosa Police Department. The Wauwatosa Police Department claims the family of Jay Anderson Jr. does not wish to release the video from the officers camera, but that is untrue. The Anderson family objects to releasing the limited 20 seconds of video from the shooting as it gives no true sense of what happened. It is confirmed that the State DOJ was able to enhance the 20 seconds of video but now Wauwatosa refuses to release that footage after multiple request from the family. The District Attorney has no objection to releasing this newly enhanced footage as their investigation is complete. Besides being in a PUBLIC park after closing time, Jay committed no crime. This officer has stated that he feared for his life because HE SAW a weapon. The only thing this officer has been able to say is HE SAW a weapon; not that Jay reached for the weapon, not that Jay physically had the weapon, but HE SAW the weapon. This officer claims he was having issues with his body camera so nothing was captured from the encounter, but he managed to get it working for 20 seconds while he was MURDERING a father, Jay and Linda's son, a fiancée, Tasha and Tray's brother, Flora and James grandson, A nephew, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend to many. It is a known that this officer attempted to leave the force for PTSD before his encounter with Jay Anderson Jr. due to another fatal shooting he was involved in less than a year prior. SO many QUESTIONS with no answers. Please support the family of Jay Anderson Jr. and contact District Attorney John Chisholm and the Wauwatosa Police Department DEMANDING answers. Whole communities are living in fear of the racist fervor that was stoked by the rhetoric of the Trump campaign. To appoint someone who has run a publication which promoted nationalist ideas, as any part of the transitioning team, will confirm for us that the campaign is not about jobs but about race. I fear the ramifications from that confirmation.

For the second time in the past 16 years, a candidate who received less popular votes has been handed the presidency. In 2000, Al Gore received almost 600,000 more votes than George W. Bush, yet Bush received more electoral votes and was handed the presidency. In 2016, Hillary Clinton received almost 500,000 more votes than Donald Trump, yet Trump received more Electoral votes and was handed the presidency. There will be no real democracy in the United States until the Electoral College is abolished and presidents are elected by popular vote. The Electoral College is obsolete. It's time to end the Electoral College and make each & every vote count. It's time we have REAL democracy in the United States of American and elect our President by POPULAR VOTE. Americans made their voices heard on election night, and more voters chose Hillary Clinton than any other candidate – Clinton is now on track to win more votes than any other presidential candidate in history except President Obama. Even though Clinton is expected to win approximately 2 MILLION more popular votes (and counting!), the Electoral College allowed Trump to win. This is the fifth time in American history, and only 16 years since voters chose Al Gore but got George W. Bush instead, that the Electoral College overruled the will of the American people. It’s an affront to our democracy and a sign that the system is broken. We believe every vote should count equally, regardless of where you live in the United States – EVERY vote in EVERY state should matter in EVERY presidential election. But thanks to the Electoral College, our presidential elections are based on state winner-take-all laws that award all of a state's electoral votes to the candidate receiving the most popular votes inside each separate state. This winner-take-all system means presidential candidates have no reason to pay attention to voters in states where they are safely ahead or hopelessly behind. Instead, candidates focus on “swing states” while largely ignoring the rest of the country. But there’s a realistic path to restoring our democracy and overruling the Electoral College by 2020, and we don’t have to go through the Trump-led, Republican-controlled Congress. If we can get enough states to sign onto the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, our presidents will be elected by the national popular vote, not the outdated Electoral College. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would require states to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the national popular vote. And we already have momentum to getting this enacted nationally: Right now, ten states and the District of Columbia have joined the compact, possessing 165 electoral votes altogether. If states and territories totaling at least 270 electoral votes pass laws joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, then the people’s choice won’t be overruled by the Electoral College in the next presidential election. That means we're only 105 electoral votes away from making sure we don’t have another 2016 in 2020! Tell State Legislators: Please join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, and end the Electoral College's power to overturn the will of the voters. Thanks for standing with us.

Once again, Donald Trump has made it clear that his administration will embrace policies that pose serious threats to millions of Americans. We need to help make sure Congress holds the line. Trump's appointment of Bannon has been heralded by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, as well as the chairman of the American Nazi Party and other ultra right-wing pundits who believe Bannon will be able to fulfill Trump's most bigoted campaign promises. Trump has said recently that he would attempt to be a president for all Americans. Yet by choosing Bannon as a top advisor in one of his first big post-election moves, Trump continues to demonstrate that he's far more interested in peddling a dangerous and divisive agenda than in working toward real solutions to our country's challenges. We need to build the collective force necessary to put members of Congress on notice that we expect them to vehemently oppose Bannon's appointment, using all the tools at their disposal, including holds on all further Trump appointments.
