The short list includes: REPRESENTATIVE TOM PRICE, nominated for Secretary of Health and Human Services, who has made dismantling the Affordable Care Act a landmark goal of his political career; BETSY DEVOS, a leading proponent of schools vouchers, who, as Education Secretary, would be in a position to chip away at one of the most fundamental cornerstones of civil society: public education; SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS, nominated for U.S. Attorney General, who has record of racist rhetoric and was previously rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee over his embrace of policies that would undermine basic civil rights; ANDY PUZDER, nominated for Labor Secretary, who has consistently prioritized corporate profits over the local economy and welfare of workers; STEVE BANNON, selected to be incoming chief White House strategist, who is a propagandist for white supremacy, and would bring sexism, anti-semitism, homophobia, racism and transphobia with him to the Oval Office. Selecting cabinet leaders who have a history of being anti-healthcare, anti-public school, anti-civil rights, anti-worker, and pro-white supremacy is not the America that the majority of Americans voted for. Remind Senate leaders that Donald Trump does not have a mandate, and tell them to stop his appointments now!

We the people, feel that Rex Tillerson is too closely aligned with Russia for the position of Secretary of State. Our country and allies need someone who understands the complexity of the Middle East and Europe without conflicts of interests. In balancing the administration, we need some experienced candidates representing our country without potential conflicts of interest that will hinder the US agenda and our standing in the world.

It is critical that Donald Trump's presidency not be confirmed by the Electoral College until there has been further investigation into Russia's alleged role in the 2016 election and the results of that investigation have been made public. Only at the country's peril can the findings of its intelligence community be so easily set aside. Likewise, the connection of several key Trump advisers and supporters of Vladimir Putin and other powerful Russians, cannot be reasonably dismissed as coincidence. This includes the newly nominated Secretary of State and current head of Exxon/Mobil, a recipient of Putin's special "Friendship" award. The possible risks to the world of the Electoral College voting without more information, are too great.

There may be inappropriate ties that would greatly compromise American and global welfare in the event of a Trump presidency. This compromise would affect the US in particular, the world in general. If inappropriate ties are proven, Trump must not be inaugurated as President of the United States.

Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) recently investigated a large pig breeding farm in North America and discovered horrifying conditions. The investigators found dozens of dead and rotting piglets. Each of the mother pigs was confined to a crate so small she could not turn around or move her head. At pig breeding facilities, piglets are taken away from their mothers at just 17 days, well before they are weaned. Many become sick and injured and die slow, painful deaths. Sign the petition and ask Costco to cut ties with all animal-abusing companies.

Most states have adopted winner-take-all rules for their EC delegates. In recent days some have initiated draconian penalties for those who violate those rules. So far, a number of Democratic delegates have announced their willingness to back a reasonable Republican candidate if a sufficient number of Republicans can join them. Most who do so, from both parties, will place themselves at legal risk. We ask ACLU to pledge its assistance to this cross-party effort.

I am starting this petition because I think it has some chance of creating a climate for bipartisan discussion and a way for the situation in which the country finds itself to be resolved so that all are served.
