I want Arkansas superdelegates to vote for the candidate that gets the most pledged delegates at the Democratic National Convention in July. If you are concerned about the Democratic presidential process like I am, then sign my petition and let's keep the superdelegates on track!

It is of critical importance that we have a representative democracy, although it appears we get further and further away from that with each passing day. President Kennedy famously said, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

Democracy is a celebration of a country's citizenry that respects the people and enables them to take part in the decision-making process. Too much recent news has suggested that superdelegates may not listen to their constituents. What is democracy without passionate individuals seeking to have their voices, ideals, and insights heard? Colorado superdelegates, do the right thing!

So far, only one California superdelegate, Christine Pelosi, has pledged to let the voters decide. Every superdelegate should make the same pledge and then honor it at the Democratic National Convention.

Toxic coal ash waste -- a byproduct of burning coal that can contain arsenic, mercury, lead and other heavy metals -- is the last thing we need in our rivers. Yet, in January 2016, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and State Water Control Board approved two highly controversial permits that allow Dominion Virginia Power to dump a total of 550 million gallons of coal ash wastewater into the Potomac and James Rivers. Virginians rely on these waterways for drinking water, recreation, and their livelihoods. These permits have raised so many alarm bells that multiple riverkeeper groups, the Prince William County of Board of Supervisors, and even the Republican Governor of Maryland are planning legal challenges. But it gets worse. Just a few weeks later, news broke that Dominion has already dumped 33.7 million gallons of untreated wastewater -- equal to 51 Olympic-sized swimming pools -- into Quantico Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River. This happened in May of 2015, eight months before the Water Control Board issued the permits. For months, Dominion and the director of DEQ, David Paylor, had denied that any waste had already been dumped. Now they’re admitting it happened, but claiming it was all legal. In response, our friends at the Potomac Riverkeeper Network have called on the Environmental Protection Agency to launch a criminal investigation. It’s time for Governor McAuliffe to step in. He must demand that his DEQ Director, David Paylor, and Water Control Board Chair Robert Dunn rescind Dominion’s permits until a full investigation is complete.

The old practice of allowing superdelegates to vote any way they choose at the Democratic National Convention violates fairness. With the move toward expanding the vote, superdelegates must vote for the candidate with the most votes at the convention. It is time to wrest control of the Democratic party away from the elites. Power to the people!

This year, Senate Majority Leader Flanagan is stonewalling legislation that would clean up Albany. He has said many times that current laws are “effective.” A recent poll showed that 89% of New York voters view corruption as a serious problem. When asked about this huge sign of support for ethics reform, Senator Flanagan told reporters: “I have not seen the results of the poll.” He has also twice (!) gone on record in February stating that ethics reform will be a low priority for him because he hasn't been hearing concern from voters. Make sure Senator Flanagan get's the message!

Simply put, the superdelegate system is extremely undemocratic and probably should be abolished. Giving a group of Democratic party loyalists and politicians a "super vote" gives elites more power than the average voter.

Superdelegates shouldn't decide the Democratic nominee for president. I am starting this petition because I believe Tennessee's superdelegates should honor the vote of the people and commit to supporting the candidate who wins the most pledged delegates.

I am a small business owner and mother of three young adults, the youngest of whom will be voting for the first time this year. I have raised them to believe that our system works because our votes count. To actively stand against the will of the majority is, at the very least, unconstitutional! The worst part is, it undermines the very system we have created. If people lose faith in the system, they lose faith in those who represent it. Please help to keep America strong by standing with us, the people. Thank you.

I am a supporter of true democracy and, like many others, am very disappointed in the Democratic Party and the fact that Superdelegates don't have to vote with the will of the people. Let's realign our party with the will of the people and not the will of Washington insiders and Dem Party power-brokers.

To allow "super-delegates" to vote AGAINST our vote is to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters. "Super-delegates" put their interests and personal relationships above the needs of the citizenry. It is an indefensible corruption of the democratic voting process. There should not be "super-delegates" in place to protect those already entrenched in power in the first place, that is how oligarchy and corruption is perpetuated. But the least they can do is vote with the people until this corruption can be fixed through policy reform.
