• Stop the butchering of stray animals.
We ask that the Malaysian Government to stop the indiscriminate slaughter of stray animals in response to rabies concerns. Two people have tested positive for rabies. We ask that DBKL change their policy of euthanizing animals after 1 week after not being claimed. We ask that DBKL set up an adoption center where these animals can be treated humanely while waiting for new homes. We also ask that a reasonable time limit be negotiated in cooperation with the animal shelter/rescue operators if animals are not adopted. We ask that funding for the euthanasia be redirected to adoption and sterilization. We ask that TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) be instituted and that Rabies vaccinations be administered at the same time the animals are neutered/spayed. Tipping of right ear as identification. We strongly believe that managing instead of killing is the most humane to control the population and by vaccinating. We believe, as does the WHO, rabies will be contained and then eliminated.

  • Renew Assault Weapons Ban of 1994!
The National Rifle Association no longer represents its members. It now represents highly profitable gun manufacturers and manipulates fear and paranoia of the US. I am so tired of our own government profiting off our fears. The Assault Weapons Ban was effective for 10 years but was allowed to lapse in 2004 due to laziness, apathy and/or greed of our Congress. It is time to reinstitute the ban.

  • Oregonians Oppose Gun Violence: Enforce SB 941 and Enact Stronger Gun Control
I am an Oregon resident, and I live in Eugene, not too far from Roseburg, where the UCC shooting occurred. And I know, as we all do, that this was not an isolated incident, but the latest entry in a history of senseless violence. Thousands of Americans are killed every year by firearms. Not only in large, high profile shootings like Sandy Hook, Aurora, AME, or the recent Umpqua Community College tragedy-but in domestic abuse cases, mass shootings which do not receive national attention and, overwhelmingly, suicides. These deaths are preventable, because they are all directly attributable to the ease of legally obtaining a deadly firearm-an ease unique to our country among all comparable nations. I am, like millions of Americans and Oregonians, tired of the same weary resignation and meaningless platitudes that greet every new shooting and every new family ripped apart by gun violence. We cannot be silent, no matter the outcome, no matter the seeming impossibility of change. The fallen demand action.

  • Tell Lawmakers: I Vote For Gun Safety
With each new mass shooting, and on the heels of the horrendous shooting at Umpqua Community College, our collective anguish is drowned out by resignation that no action will be taken to stop the next shooting. Far too often we give candidates a pass – in the name of respect for cultural traditions, hunting and sport shooting, and the 2nd Amendment, we permit candidates to dodge the question of their support for common-sense gun safety legislation. But these killings must stop.

  • Govenor Brown support your workforce
I work in the San Francisco Bay area but can not live near my work. I have a 58-mile commute adding to global warming and climate change. I Agree with Governor Brown's calls to action to change our behaviors and save our planet. I believe the governor should do all he can to address this issue and compensating his employees so they can live where they work could go a long way in reaching his goals.

  • Please Sue BDS QC for Their Libelous Signs about Prime Minister Harper
BDS QC has posted legal election signs in French (see link below) that mention: "Israel Assassinates Palestinian Children. Harper Applauds." I highly doubt that Canada's Prime Minister has ever applauded the deaths of any children, and as such view the signs as libelous. This is an excellent opportunity for Prime Minister Harper to clear his name and at the same time help children, as I am confident he always does! http://ici.radio-canada.ca/sujet/elections-canada-2015/2015/09/28/022-elections-pancarte-controverse.shtml

  • Unfair Ruling: Free Stephan Galbreath
Stephen Galbreath has been incarcerated since 2003 for first degree assault and first degree burglary. He was given life plus 235 years for these crimes that he did not commit. Not only did Galbreath get an unfair trail, he was given about double what his supposed accomplice received for the SAME EXACT CHARGES. Stephan Galbreath was stolen away from his children and family whom he loves dearly because of this unjust ruling. Please sign this petition to help us bring Stephan's unfair sentencing to the Governor of Missouri's attention so that we can hopefully receive a trial for re-sentencing.

  • Congress: Create a national monument honoring the victims of senseless gun violence
Too many Americans have died in mass shootings, from Columbine to Aurora and from Sandy Hook to Umpqua. The President continues to call on Congress to act, and yet they do nothing to pass common sense gun laws -- laws, which are supported by a vast majority of responsible gun owners. Until Congress finally moves forward with legislation aimed at preventing further tragedies, we demand that they erect a monument to the hundreds of Americans who have died because they chose inaction. Join us in calling on a national monument honoring the lives we've lost, located in Washington, DC near Capitol Hill.

  • Urge Mark Lazarus to Stop the Killings
Every day our free-roaming cats face life-threatening situations, none more dangerous than cats and kittens being taken to the Horry County Animal Care Center. Please sign our petition; tell Horry County Council it’s time for a change. Implement the existing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) ordinance under Small Animal Management. A humane shelter gives animals a second chance at life.  Tragically, Myrtle Beach cats get death.  It’s time our shelter progressed to saving lives, not killing them. Felines in Horry County are under constant threat; 90% are killed each year. Now is your chance to help: Sign the petition and add your personal comments if you like.

  • Marylanders Need Debates!
Holding a full and open set of debates could not be more important. Our state and our country is in crisis, the top 1% keeps gaining more and more power -- and along with it influence over the levels of government, media, and industry -- while real families are struggling just trying to get by. If we allow those with money, those with power, to set the parameters of this debate, we know they will bend them towards the establishment. This is a time for us to stand up and make sure everyday Marylanders get the full debate they deserve, not the one the establishment chooses for them. Senator Barbara Mikulski is retiring. We owe it to her legacy to pursue a level of spirited discourse that raises expectations, and challenges each of us to stand before the voters and discuss our ideas. • .@nytimes: Don’t focus attention on Oregon shooter
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin told reporters he refuses to name the gunman behind the shooting rampage at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College that left 10 people dead and seven others injured. “I will not give him the credit he probably sought prior to this horrific act of cowardice,” Hanlin said. “You will never hear me mention his name.” [1] In addition to respect for the victims and their families, Sheriff Hanlin has a very good law enforcement, public health justification for his position: research indicating that mass shootings in the U.S. are “contagious,” and that mass media focus on the identity of the shooter is a key means of contagion. [2] On August 27, the New York Times published an op-ed calling on major media to change their behavior. [3] Yet the morning after the shooting, the most prominent position on the New York Times website was occupied by an article about the identity of the shooter. If we can curb media "looping" of acts of horrific violence and their perpetrators in domestic reporting, that will establish a precedent for foreign policy reporting about terrorism. That will help contain future war fevers. The New York Times by its actions sets standards for other “responsible media” in the United States. Urge the New York Times to rethink its editorial policy by signing our petition. • Insurance to purchase bullets requirement.
Bullets are not protected by the Second Amendment and guns are not as lethal without bullets. It would compensate the insurance lobby for the excess they lose in health care. The insurance lobby will show the NRA for what they are. Facts and risk will be made evident to all.
