• Take Big Money Out of Politics
I am starting this petition because Big Money has stolen our government. Big Money controls the political agenda infused with propaganda as legitimate dialog while disregarding the priorities of a nation desperately in need of honest debate and solutions to its many problems.

  • Eliminate criminal charges for women for acts of violence male partners committed
A woman was jailed for 30 years for an act of a man, who served only 2 years for the same act. This needs to stop. This is currently the law in too many (29) states and they are called "Failure to Protect" laws. In 7 states, LIFE IN PRISON can be a sentence for a woman for a man's violence.

  • No Room For Hate On Saturday Night Live: Tell NBC To Dump Donald Trump As Host
Saturday Night Live recently announced that Donald Trump would serve as host of the program on November 7, 2015, one year from the 2016 general election. The popular comedy show, which has been criticized for not adequately representing Latinos, is broadcasted by NBC - the same network that terminated its relationship with Donald Trump over his derogatory comments about Mexican immigrants. Now, just three months after cutting ties with Donald Trump, NBC is seeking to boost its ratings at the expense of Latinos and immigrants by allowing Trump to host one of its most popular shows. By inviting Donald Trump to host Saturday Night Live, NBC is demonstrating that it doesn’t care about its Latino and pro-immigrant viewers. It is providing a platform for Trump’s insulting attacks on immigrants and calling it entertainment -- something we do not find funny. It is shameful for NBC to allow Donald Trump to host Saturday Night Live, a comedy show when one of the main policies he has promised would rip apart millions of immigrant and Latino families. NBC cannot bill hateful rhetoric as comedy, much less entertainment. Tell NBC to drop Donald Trump as host of Saturday Night Live!

  • Bishop DiLorenzo: End Discrimination towards Gay Employees
I join Equality Virginia and other fair-minded Americans in writing you in regards to your treatment of John Murphy. This country has a long and important history of upholding religious freedom. That right, which has preserved everyone’s ability to worship and believe as they choose, should not be repurposed to allow individuals or institutions to impose harm on others. A life-long Catholic, Mr. Murphy was hired by a lay governing board as the Executive Director of the St. Francis Home. The Home is run by lay employees and admission is open to all qualifying people over 50 without preference or discrimination based on race, creed, religion, gender, or country of origin. Upon receiving his employee benefits paperwork, you ordered his dismissal because he has a same-sex spouse. Religious organizations have a protected right to make decisions about hiring and firing people who are ministers, and can teach or spread faith free from government interference. But for positions that do not involve ministerial duties, such as leading the St. Francis Home, our longstanding laws against discrimination apply to both religious and secular organizations. Most Americans, including a majority of Catholics, are shocked that you would fire Mr. Murphy solely because of who he loves. Employees should be judged on their qualifications, experience and the job they do – nothing more, and nothing less.

  • Tell Warren Buffett: Stop Your War On Rooftop Solar In Utah!
One of our best hopes in the fight against climate change is the massive explosion of rooftop solar, which has more than tripled since 2010! But multi-billionaire, Warren Buffett, has launched a full scale attack on the rooftop solar market in Utah. Buffett, through Rocky Mountain Power — a utility that his Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate owns — is urging the state’s Public Service Commission (PUC) to add a range of fees on homeowners who qualify for the state’s net metering program. The PUC rejected the proposal last year, but Rocky Mountain Power is now pushing for a reconsideration of Utah’s net metering program and claims that regulators should not consider environmental benefits of the program, despite the fact that Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s climate pledge states exactly the opposite. Public hearings just occurred and the Public Utilities Commission is deliberating now -- a final decision is currently pending. Rocky Mountain Power claims that net metering raises costs for other users, even though studies have shown exactly the opposite. But Buffett’s real reason is much more self-centered: rooftop solar cuts into the profits of his utility. If the changes Buffett seeks go through, they would destroy the solar market in Utah, costing thousands of jobs and slowing the fight against climate change.

  • Let Siblings Ride the Bus Together
I've started this petition because my younger daughter will be allowed to ride the school bus for K-2 (starting next year) but my 3rd grader has aged out. The bus stops on our corner with empty seats. I have since been hearing a ton of anecdotal evidence about parents in similar situations. Let's apply some common sense to bussing!

  • Remove UAB's Columbus Statue
The students of the American Indian Association at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) would like to call attention to the Christopher Columbus statue on the campus of UAB. In school, we are taught that he was the brave hero who discovered the Americas, but the legacy of Columbus is not one to be celebrated. In reality, the effects of Columbus's colonization severely harmed the Native American population and led to the genocide of millions. This led to historical discrimination and mistreatment of Indigenous Peoples that still remains today. Columbus is not a representative of diversity, but he is instead a representative of white-washed American history. The Columbus statue is located on the terrace of the UAB Smolian International House. UAB is one of the top ranking universities in the United States of America for diversity and this statue represents neither UAB nor our current diversity. We suggest that the UAB administrators, faculty, students, and staff remove this statue and replace it with a statue that better represents the diversity of our campus! Please sign your name and list your zip code on our petition, which we will present to the UAB administrators, faculty, students, and staff.

  • HOUSE BILL 1892
HOUSE BILL 1892 - MA Insurance Coverage for Natural Healthcare - Sponsored by Representative Garrett Bradley and Senator Jason Lewis THANK YOU! Dear Legislator, 3/12/15 I think it’s time for a change in Massachusetts. I believe in preventive healthcare, and since I am required to pay for “health insurance” I think insurance companies should be required to cover services provided by naturopathic and holistic practitioners. I am in your district and would like you to stand up for Natural Healthcare. House Bill 1892 which is in The Joint Committee of Public Health deserves your support. Respectfully,
