My friend Paul Nachbar has been in the mental health system for over 20 years and it has destroyed him. He was a very good poet very sensitive and thoughtful. That was his poetry from before he got overwhelmed by his treatment. Now it is very rough and full of anger. Sometimes his poetry comes near to its former self. I have been his friend for about 5 years and he has gone downhill in that time. I am very worried for him.

There have been at least two bills put forth that I know of, may be more I don't know I'm not a native of WV and I've been sick since 2011 and really began searching for alternative approaches to my diseases specifically natural and even medicinal cannabis and CBD oils since 2013 after I had to stop working and was taking oral chemo pills. And there are people in this state who have power and they keep stopping the bills to legalize medical cannabis from becoming legal. Some of our politicians claim to be Christians, and Genesis 1:29 plainly says we were given every plant and seed bearing plant as food. Many people in office claim to go by the book (Bible)... until it goes to turning the pages! I don't know if legal medical cannabis would harm their business interests or in someway effect their contributions from special interests. Science has proven over 700 uses for the plant medically and it was legal back in the late 1800's thru the 1930's, it's history of use goes back to 5000 yrs BC. WV also is very close to the top or in first place from opiate crack meth and heroin use and overdoses. THE WAR ON DRUGS HAS FAILED... MANY PEOPLE ARE BEING JAILED OVER A PLANT GIVEN TO US BY THE CREATOR HIMSELF!! Hemp farming would put many people to work, hemp was used for hundreds of years and now we can make bio-fuels and building products, all kinds of stuff! It's a no brainer...first follow the Science, Then look at what it's done for Colorado...the people of WV could financially and medically be healed. The Will of The People can change this and can and will vote out those who oppose it's legalization, it's just a matter of time. PROGRESSIVE WAS PAID TO HAVE MY BACK WHEN A DRIVER WITH NO INSURANCE IS INVOLVED. AFTER FIVE YEARS OF FIGHTING, I AM EXHAUSTED AND I HAVE NOTHING LEFT. IN JULY 2010 I WAS INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT, I NOTIFIED THE COMPANY IN THAT CASE PROGRESSIVE, AND THEY ASSURED ME THAT ALL WOULD BE WELL SINCE I PAID MY PREMIUMS ON TIME. SINCE THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE MY UM/UIM KICKED IN AUTOMATICALLY. ONCE THEY FIND THAT OUT, PROGRESSIVE HAS MADE A DECISION TO STALL THE PROCESS. THEY DENIED EVERYTHING, EVEN THOUGH THEIR ADJUSTERS AGREED THAT MY CLAIM IS VALID. PROGRESSIVE REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE. I HAD TO FILE SUIT AGAINST THE DRIVER AND I WAS AWARDED OVER A MILLION DOLLARS FOR MY INJURIES. SINCE I WAS IN ANOTHER PERSON’S CAR, THEIR INSURANCE PAID TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS WHICH WAS THEIR LIMIT. I HAD BOUGHT A POLICY FROM PROGRESSIVE FOR 100/300. PROGRESSIVE GOT MY LETTER ON TIME FOR THE UM/UIM POLICY TRIGGER. A PATTERN OF BAD FAITH STARTED TO EMERGE AND PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE DID NOT CARE. THEIR ADJUSTER TOLD ME TO FIRE MY ATTORNEY THEN THE CASE WOULD BE SETTLED, IT WAS A LIE. I RECEIVED A LETTER WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS STATING THAT THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS HAS RUN OUT AND THAT SHE WILL NOT BE PAYING THE CLAIM. THEY REFUSED ALL OUR DEMANDS, THEN THEY DECIDED TO NOT SHOW UP IN MEETINGS THAT WE AGREED TO. MY LAWYER AND I AGREED THAT WE HAVE TO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST PROGRESSIVE FOR THE POLICY THAT I AM OWED AND FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT AND BAD FAITH. THIS COMPANY HAS IN-HOUSE COUNSEL TO DEFEND THEIR INTERESTS. THEY HAVE THROWN EVERYTHING AT ME. FIRST, A MOTION TO STRIKE, SECOND AN ANSWER WITH SPECIAL DEFENSES AND THIRD A MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGEMENT. REMEMBER WHAT I SAID ABOUT STALL TACTICS, NOW THEY ARE USING THAT SAME TACTIC TO GET RID MY CASE, CLAIMING THAT MY CASE WAS NOT FILED ON TIME, THEREFORE THE JUDGE SHOULD THROW IT OUT. THEIR LAWYER ADMITTED THAT THE CASE IS STRONG AGAINST PROGRESSIVE BUT STILL FILE A MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF HIS MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGEMENT. ASKING THE JUDGE TO RULES ON THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS SOLELY, HOPING IT HAS RUN OUT, THEN I WOULD HAVE NO CASE TO PURSUE. MY ATTORNEYS SAID THAT IT WAS FILED ON TIME, WHILE THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, THEY HAVE BEEN VERY DECEPTIVE, AND THEY’VE BREACHED THE CONTRACT WHICH MAKES IT BAD FAITH. EVERYTHING THEY HAVE DONE IN THIS CASE IS MISLEADING; BASICALLY THEY WERE SETTING TRAPS FOR MY CLIENT IN ORDER TO AVOID RESPONSIBILITY. THEIR WILFUL AND WANTON CONDUCT HAS CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGES AND PAIN. THE LAWS ARE COMPLICATED BUT THE LAWYERS CLAIMED IT WAS FILED ON TIME AND THEIR OWN POLICY SAYS SO AND THE LAW ALSO. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN IN THESE CASES. I HAVE HAD 4 SURGERIES IN MY SHOULDER AND LAST YEAR I HAD TO TOTALLY REPLACE THE SHOULDER. THIS PAST MAY I HAD TO HAVE KNEE SURGERIES. MY BILLS ARE IN EXCESS OF 120 000 DOLLARS. SUDDENLY THEY ASKED FOR MEDIATION, IT WAS A BAD IDEA. I WAS OFFERED 5000 DOLLARS AND I WAS TOLD THAT WOULD BE ONLY OFFER. I WAS HURT BY THIS BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT NO ONE CARED ABOUT AND I STARTED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT ME SINCE I BELONG IN THE MINORITY CLASS, I WAS TOLD BY THE MEDIATOR WE << WE ARE TRYING TO PUT SOME MONEY IN YOUR POCKET>> NO ONE TALKS ABOUT POLICY , PAST AND FUTURE MEDICAL BILLS. I HEARD EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG FOR ME AND BECAUSE OF THOSE THINGS I SHOULD TAKE WHATEVER PROGRESSIVE GIVES ME. I HEARD NOTHING ABOUT MY PAIN AND SUFFERING AND BELIEVE ME I SUFFER EVERYDAY. I HAVE TO TAKE PAIN MEDICATIONS, THEY HELP ME FUNCTION BUT OVERALL MY LIFE SUCKS. NOW I FACE THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING HOMELESS , SINCE I HAVE LIMITED INCOME, IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO HELP MY CHILDREN AND I , THE ONE PERSON WHO WAS HELPING ME HAS FOUND OUT SHE HAS CANCER , MY MOTHER HAS MULTIPLE MYELOMA , SHE HAD TO STAY IN HOSPITAL . SHE IS THE ONE WHO WAS ABLE TO HELP ME WITH A PLACE TO STAY SINCE SHE OWNS THE HOUSE. WE HAVE NOTHING LEFT, MY GOAL WAS TO HELP HER IN ANYWAY I COULD, IF PROGRESSIVE DECIDES TO FOLLOW THE RULES. BUT I REALIZED THAT PROGRESSIVE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE, THE COMPANY CARES ABOUT MAXIMIZING THEIR PROFITS NO MATTER THE COST. DON’T BUY INSURANCE FROM PROGRESSIVE; YOU ARE PAYING THE PEOPLE WHO WILL STAND AGAINST YOU. I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY MOTHER WHO IS EVERYTHING TO ME. CANCER DRUGS COST A LOT OF MONEY AND THERE IS NO WAY I WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THEM TO HER SO I WILL HAVE TO CHERISH THE MOMENT.

Some Republican Senators like presidential candidate Lindsey Graham [1] and Senate Armed Services chair John McCain are calling for the deployment of U.S. ground troops into Syria's sectarian civil war. So far, the Obama Administration is opposed. [2] But pressure on the Obama Administration for “action” is increasing with the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe, reports that military officials “spun” intelligence reports to suggest that the anti-ISIS war was going well, and reports that only a handful of U.S.-trained “anti-ISIS rebels” are operating in Syria. The alternative to U.S. military escalation of Syria's civil war is diplomacy without preconditions, for which there may now be a new opening. Russia has proposed new talks with the U.S. about Syria, and the Obama Administration has agreed to the Russian proposal for talks. I am starting this petition because my family has been negativly effected by measure 11. My children will not have there father in their lives for the next 6 years. We are having a difficult time coping without him and it will be even harder to cope after all the time we lose. Our case had special circumstances, one of those being self defense which I witnessed with my own eyes. Now he will be locked up for six years for protecting himself physically and his family's well-being. His being taken away from us for just acting out of fear is unjustified, maybe time is owed but not six years. Something needs to be done about the strict laws in Oregon. A man should have the right to protect himself and his family. Unfortunately, in court, our story was downplayed and not taken seriously. Any support is greatly appreciated we need to give our judges back their power and defendants' right to a fair trial.

The highest incarceration rate in the world and police violence against Black communities are some of the most pressing issues facing American society today. During Pope Francis's 2015 US tour, we urge him to meet with the victims of criminalization and police violence in the Black community, as organized by the US Human Rights Network and other organizations to hear their stories and amplify their voices. We implore Pope Francis to lend his moral authority to this critical issue by speaking out against police violence in low-income Black communities across the US.

The ACA is here to stay! That's a good thing because the law has delivered long-awaited patient protections, such as: - Making it illegal for insurance companies to deny people with pre-existing conditions; - Making it possible for people to find affordable coverage if they can’t get it through a job; and - Making sure women aren’t unfairly charged more than men, and have access to important preventive benefits like cancer screenings and birth control. Still, there is more we can do to make our health care system work better for everyone. We can do more to bring down premiums and lower what Americans pay out-of-pocket. We can give people more power against big insurance and drug companies. But we can’t do that until Congress stops wasting time and taxpayer dollars on repealing the health care law.

The U.S. Justice Department has awarded the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the official trade association of the firearms industry, $2.4 million for its “Project ChildSafe” program, which it says protects children by supplying gunlocks to households. Gunlocks are important, but there are other giveaway programs the DOJ could support. Just as important is advancing gun safety policies, against which the NSSF has been one of the strongest opponents. For example, at a time when more than 20,000 children go to the emergency room every year with gun injuries, the NSSF has been among the most aggressive advocates for loosening gun laws and getting firearms into as many hands as possible to expand gun sales. It has strongly opposed universal background checks, and works to “rebrand” military-bred assault rifles like the AR-15 and AK-47 as “modern sporting rifles.” Most recently, it joined the NRA in suing Seattle over a sales tax on guns and ammunition designed to help offset the costs of gun violence in the city. Giving the NSSF gun safety grants is like entrusting the tobacco industry with taxpayer dollars to protect the public against lung cancer. By doing so, the DOJ only helps the gun industry project an image of being committed to gun safety, when in reality its top commitment is to expanding gun sales. In a nation where 33,000 Americans die each year from guns, our tax dollars should be spent supporting those working to reduce gun violence, not helping facilitate it.
