• Stop adding fluoride to the Mohawk Valley water supply
Fluoridation of the public drinking water is unethical, ineffective and harmful. The Harvard School of Public Health and other recent studies have found fluoride to be linked to lower IQ in children. You cannot control the dose- Erin Brockovich explained it best- “Bottomline folks, the dose cannot be controlled. Once fluoride is put in the water it is impossible to control the dose each individual receives because people drink different amounts of water. Being able to control the dose a patient receives is critical." Water fluoridation doesn’t even work- both the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) have noted that there is no discernible difference in tooth decay between developed countries that fluoridate their water and those that do not. Many cities across the United States and countries abroad have voted to have this known neurotoxin removed from their drinking supply and have succeeded. Let’s be next!

  • Michigan Citizens Against Pavlov Senate Bill 103 Teacher Evaluations
My children attend Rochester Community Schools, which has already been forced to cut 80 teachers due to budget constraints and burdens from Lansing. Bill 103 only adds additional and unnecessary burdens to school districts throughout the State of Michigan, which will negatively impact our children. Our children's education should be our top priority, and this Bill should be stopped.

  • Mayor Baraka – Cities Across the Country Are Looking to Your Leadership to Stop the Foreclosure C...
Following the lead of Mayor Ras Baraka, over a dozen mayors from across the country co-sponsored a resolution at the U.S. Conference of Mayors that calls for banks to release delinquent mortgages to community based lenders. This is a major effort to stop our neighborhoods from being raided for profit over by Wall Street. Mayors and City Councils from coast-to-coast are anxiously awaiting your leadership against this crisis and are ready to stand with you in this fight against Wall Street! When Ras Baraka became Mayor a year ago, WE became Mayor! We believe in Newark and in the resilience of our communities. Unfortunately, families in Newark continue to lose homes to predatory lending and illegal foreclosures by banks. Meanwhile abandoned homes and vacant buildings created by the foreclosure crisis sit empty while private equity firms from Wall Street speculate and profit from our neighborhoods. Local elected leaders in cities hit hard by foreclosures, have looked to Newark as a model to get toxic and delinquent mortgages out of the hands of speculators and into the hands of financial organizations that will work to get large scale principle reduction for our communities. Aware of the commitments Mayor Baraka made during his campaign, a growing movement of local leaders stands ready to join the fight against the foreclosure crisis created by Wall Street. Homeowners in Newark are building a movement to push for housing justice in our city – and our work here will blaze a trail for activists and local elected leaders everywhere! We demand aggressive local action by the City of Newark to seize toxic “PLS” mortgages and to move distressed mortgages from banks into the hands of good actors, like community-based investors, who are concerned about the future of Newark families struggling to save their homes and neighborhoods from profiteering Wall Street banks and private equity firms. Mayor Baraka – your leadership on this issue has jumpstarted a national movement of municipalities demanding justice from Wall Street. It is time for Newark to lead the next phase of the battle. Please take the courageous steps that will reset these troubled mortgages and stabilize the housing market in our neighborhoods.

  • STOP NOAA from rubber-stamping US Military requests!
Using inhabited islands for live-fire (bombing) training is in itself a violation of human decency. To approve lip service only to protecting all forms of wildlife on or around those islands is grossly negligent and should be considered criminal - NOT acceptable. But what the US military wants NOAA approves. Our islands are special, all of our species of wildlife and coral are special, some are endangered now. ALL will be endangered by the US Military if they are allowed to proceed with such an outrageous plan. We only have until Aug 4, 2015 to make our opinions known.

  • Fire and Fine Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Bigoted Clerks
Church and State are separate. For the millions of religious groups or ignorant, bigoted preferences, State employees do not have the "Right to Refuse Service" do to their bigoted, political or religious choice, as they are paid employees to serve everyone in the State. They can no longer deny filing this union contract between two people including the .05% born with atypical genitalia, the surgical alteration by choice or health, or personal choice of sexual orientation is. Just as the "One Drop Rule" Texas retained their old "blood fraction" statutes de jure, but amended these fractions (one-sixteenth, one-thirty-second) to be equivalent to one-drop de facto-that would have denied Ted Cruz and Gov. Abbot's marriages due to anti-miscegenation statutes in the Dallas Records building, at the desk across from the "Whites Only" sign etched in marble above the water fountain where Ted and Abbott's wife could be arrested for being thirsty. As Texas can no longer deny the religious ideology, race, country of origin, Health premarital blood tests and pelvic examinations as it is no business of any clerk (still CT, DC, IN and MT do) or Adultery Status.

  • Congress: Require ALL U.S. Political Candidates to Provide Their Full Birth Record
Historically, precise birth data of world leaders has always been recorded and available to the public. In monarchies, the moment of birth of any heir to a throne is (to this very day) formally announced and published by the nation of his/her birth. The births of many early U.S. presidents were recorded in family bibles. But in recent years, knowing the value of precise birth times (to astrologers in particular), many candidates have guarded that information. We believe that this information should, going forward, ALWAYS be public. In 2008 -- continuing well into his presidency, and despite publishing his long form Hawaiian birth certificate -- President Obama has been continuously harassed by unfounded charges that he was not born in the USA. This, while Ted Cruz and John McCain were born in Canada and Panama respectively. Long form birth certificates routinely state the date, precise time and place of birth. We have never seen Hillary Clinton's birth record nor that of Ted Cruz or Bernie Sanders, so clearly this is a non-partisan issue. Let's insist that all candidates be treated equally and be required to provide this important document to the American public.

  • Leaders of the State of Texas: Do Your Job & Follow the Law
The United States Supreme Court has ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that marriage is a constitutionally protected right of all citizens of the United States of America, including members of the LGBT community. When you, and all officials of this State, decided to enter into public service you became servants of all of the citizens of Texas, not just the ones you agree with. The public servants of this State receive their paychecks from the State, counties and cities that they serve, not from their respective churches or religious institutions. We have no issue with you having your deeply held religious beliefs. But if they prevent you from executing your jobs, from which the citizens of this State employ you to perform, then you should find another job. You have a constitutional duty to enforce all laws, even the ones you do not agree with because of your deeply held religious beliefs. It is time for you to stop disrespecting the rule of law and begin to immediately require all public servants responsible for issuing marriage certificates to our LGBT Texans to do so, and to require any public servant who, under usual and ordinary circumstances, would perform a wedding ceremony to heterosexual couples to perform those same services to homosexual couples seeking to marry. Note that this requirement does not include any religious institution who have specific exclusions from the Supreme Court of the United States' ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.

  • Ban Handheld Cellphone Use While Driving in North Carolina!
In the United States of America, cellphone use while driving causes 1 in 4 car accidents. Today, while driving with my mom, a lady was on her cellphone and went through a stop sign without stopping or looking, and almost caused us to get into a car accident! Other states banned this for a great reason, to help keep drivers safer. Shouldn't North Carolina, too?
